A very pleasant day to all of my hive family, my greatest supporters. How was your day? I understand that each of us is fighting our own battles, but always remember that God is always there for us. For today's blog, I'm going to share with you my weekend experience.
Every Saturday, we travel to the barangay Jaguimit to teach children. Before we set off, we prepare the things we need to bring, such as food for the children, since our visit also includes a feeding program. We also prepare our own food for lunch as we will be eating there as well. For the children, we prepared spaghetti and we brought rice for ourselves. After preparing the food, we set off at 9:30 am since our class there starts at 10:00 AM. On our way there, we saw the beautiful views of the mountain.
After several hours of traveling to Jaguimit, we finally arrived. Upon our arrival, we had to wait for the children as we were quite early. We arrived at 9 AM and our class will actually start at 10 AM, so the children were not there yet. When the clock struck 10, the children finally arrived. But before they took their seats, they performed the 'mano', a Filipino custom where they take your hand and place it on their forehead as a sign of respect. After that, we had them sit down so we could start our class. But before we began, we took a moment to pray together, as is our custom before starting any class.
After the prayer, we sang an action song for the Lord. The children really enjoyed it whenever we sang. We used a ukulele or a small guitar for our music, which was easy to carry to the mountains, and a song chart so the children could follow along while singing. I wish I had a video of the children singing, but I just don't know how to upload a video. Hahaha.
After we finished our energizer, we started teaching the children. Our lesson was about how good the Lord is. It is very important for the children to develop a relationship with God, and we were delighted to see them actively listening to the story and enthusiastically participating.
After our lesson, we gave them answer sheets. They had to answer the questions in the notebook, which also included drawings and coloring activities related to the story about God. Before they started answering, I provided them with instructions on how to approach the questions. The children had a lot of fun while answering and coloring in their answer sheets.
After our class, we gathered together and prayed before distributing the snacks we had prepared for them. The children looked so happy as they received their snacks, and each of them said "thank you". Hearing them express their gratitude made us happy because even though it was a simple snack, they appreciated it by saying thank you. After receiving their snacks, they began to eat them happily, so I took the opportunity to capture their beautiful smiles that brought me joy.
After the kids finished eating, we prepared our lunch. Since it was already 12 noon, we decided to have our lunch. Our pastor bought us some cold coke because it was really hot outside. While we were eating, we also talked about our plans for the kids' class. After we finished eating, we cleaned the chairs we used in the class and took them back to the barangay. We thanked God for the success. Finally, we were all set to go home and thanked God for the victory.
Memorable lesson
My day ended with another memorable moment in my life that I will cherish for the rest of my life. It made me realize the importance of stepping out of our comfort zones and using our lives to bless others. I am doing this not only for God but also to help other people and bring them closer to God, especially the children. Nowadays, children are often busy with their cellphones and can be spoiled. That is why it is crucial to teach them good values and introduce them to God.
Our purpose in conducting a feeding program and teaching the children about God is to introduce them to who God is, how good He is, and what He has done to save us. Despite feeling physically tired, seeing the beautiful smiles of the children and hearing them shout my name from afar makes all my tiredness fade away. So let us continue to help others and make a positive change in their lives, for we never know how long we will live in this world. Let us use our lives to bless others and make a difference.
That concludes today's blog post. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog. I hope you will show your support by reblogging, commenting, and upvoting. Thank you, and may God bless you all.
