In this story I will show you photos from our session with two great athletes as well as information about this type of sport.
If you follow my blog you know that I like to photograph athletes in urban environments. Today I present to you Zivko and Vera, who are acro yoga instructors in the city of Sofia, Bulgaria. When I contacted them and told them about my idea for photos, they immediately agreed, because they regularly make movements in an urban environment. I was surprised because rarely do athletes train in the city. For everyone else it is something unknown.
Vera told me that she loves to do acro yoga on the weekends. So they get rid of the stress during the working week and spend time with Zhivko and the athletes.
WHAT IS ACRO YOGA?
It was founded in the USA in 2003 by Jenny Sauer-Klein and Jason Nemer. This sport is a mixture of yoga and acrobatics. It teaches mutual trust in partners, building a strong bond between them. Confidence is key and the acro elements keep things fun.
Acro Yoga has three elements:
- Base - This is the person who is closest to the ground. Its role is as the foundation of a building. It should keep the flyer stable in the air.
- Flyer - Simply put, this role is played by the man in the air. Zhivko explained too complicatedly and I only remembered that.
- Spectator - He takes care of the safety of the flier.
In addition to acro yoga, Zhivko does Juggling. In two minutes he stretched a rope between two trees and started swinging clubs. Make it so easy, it's like I'm eating two hamburgers. In conclusion, I can say that this type of sport can be safely practiced in the fresh air in nature.
