Visiting my grandparents in their village house. It’s pumpkin season so the kids were excited!

After our Saturday morning coffee we were really struggling with making the plan for our weekend. We didn’t have any particular plans and we thought it would be great if we visit my grandparents in their village house, located half an hour away from the city. Furthermore the weather forecast was promising a very warm and sunny day - a perfect time to be outside with the children.

Although my grandparents are very old, they still manage to keep their garden good looking and clean. And the kids… they always find going around the place and dealing with things that they will not be able to do in the city.

The first mission? Feed the chicken with some grass and grains!

I think here the hens were happy but the kids were more excited from this unusual task. I was surprised to see the little boy get close to the door and feeding the animals on his own. Last time we visited our village he was very afraid and felt more comfortable when I fed the hens. He grows very fast!

Second task… pick some bell peppers from the garden!

Although we have some peppers in our city yard too, they are super hot peppers so I don’t allow my kids to pick them. This can very easily become a huge mess with a lot of tears and pain for the little fellas. The peppers in my grandparents’ house are safe! And the kids enjoyed the act of picking them so much!

Of course there are some hot peppers, but they are in a separate location and are a lot milder than the ones I tend to grow.

The kids really loved the wide yard and the vast amount of free space to run around. I think they enjoyed the day so far, but really there was another task that was left to be done. Pumpkin picking!

Ripe pumpkins are really showing that the Halloween is closing and autumn is here!

Last year we bought some pumpkins from a friend of our grandparents and we really wanted to take some more this year. They were so sweet and flavorful! And we can be sure that they are free of fertilizers, pesticides and any harmful chemicals.

The old man who is growing the pumpkins is very friendly and nice person and every time we go to pick some pumpkins he is so happy and talks with a huge smile. He picked the most ripe pumpkins and both our little guys were trying to help with a lot of excitement!

We picked about 6 big pumpkins and the old man wanted to give presents to the boys. He picked 3 more little ones and gave them as presents to us. We were very thankful and really wanted to pay them as well, but the old man refused to take more money.

The pumpkins really helped for a very autumn colored images. These warm tones will soon be replaced by the coolness of the winter, but until the leaves of the trees fall to the ground completely, we have at least some more weeks to enjoy the views and collect some warmth for the freezing months.

After all, it was maybe the best decision to visit our grandparents and enjoy some time together. They are always happy to see their grand-grand children. They already don’t have much of a diversity in their lives and every visit makes them so joyful and enthusiastic.

Wish you a good and healthy start of the week!
See ya!
