Good day my fellows Weekend-ers! As usual, It’s time for my weekend engagement post by galenkp@galenkp

After thinking for quite sometime and weighing my options I finally picked a topic to write on. It was quite a tough choice because I had an idea of what to write for each of them but I’m guessing this particular one hit a little bit close to home 🙂.

Drum rolls please!. Alas I went with topic No. 4!

”Are you a person others can depend upon or are you dependant upon others. Explain your answer and how either effects your life.”
Weekrnd Engagement

I would like to think I’m the last person to depend on others for anything at all. I try my best to sort things out myself whether it’s financially, emotionally, academically e.t.c. It’s very rare for me to ask someone for help unless that’s probably my last option and I’ve exhausted all means necessary. Sadly, this is not a good thing, I mean what’s the point of having friends If I can’t talk to them when I feel sad or I can’t go to them for help. Most times I like to think I wasn’t born this way. I used to be more free when I younger but then as I grew up, I encountered people with lots of different characters. My interactions or experience with them probably influenced my decision.

I had people I thought I could call friends do things that I wouldn’t think of doing to them or anyone.
Emotionally- I confided in someone and during an argument sometime in the future the person used it against me. I mean I confided In you with something really confidential, something that hurt me and you threw it back in my face because we had a little argument. Nahhh that’s messed up.

Financially- I had to buy drugs in school because I wasn’t feeling fine but I didn’t have cash on me. I had begged this particular boy that lived near by for a little cash stating that I’d pay back two days later (I’m really not the type of friend that owes another friend so I always pay back as soon as possible). Anyways, the boy (we were quite close so he wasn’t a total stranger) replies straight to my face saying that he doesn’t give girls money because they never pay back. This was coming from a supposed friend that saw I was sick.

All this and many more so really I don’t blame people for being closed off.

Can Others Depend on me?

Yes they can. I’m usually that “go-to-friend”. I’m always there for my friends when they need a listening ear or financial help. Literally, if it’s within my capability I’ll do it. It’s just sad how most people come to me for advice or help because I’m not even judgemental but I can’t say the same for myself. Opening up is just hard for me that’s all.

But at last, I’m happy people find me worthy enough to confide in me with whatever is troubling them😇.

Thanks for reading!
