Weekend visit to the local market

Hello everyone and hello to all weekend lovers.

When the sun wakes you up on Saturday morning, you can’t stay home. So I decided to go to the market early to buy fresh fruits and vegetables. There are a lot of markets, but I have a favorite, which is located in Zemun, the old part of my city, by the Danube river. I love the market by the river because I can always buy fresh fish there and that place has a special charm that makes me feel relaxed.

Going to the market is one of my favorite weekend rituals for several reasons.

Walking through the old part of the city makes my life slow down a bit and I get away from the city hustle and bustle for a while.

It is always colorful and all those colors brighten my day.

I am a salad lover and choosing vegetables for salad is always a special moment for me.

When I photographed the market stall in the picture below, the lady who sells said to me: "Since you are photographing, now you have to buy something." 🙂

So I bought onions and garlic, celery, radishes, beets, and spinach.

I love flowers and I always stop by the market stalls where flowers are sold. Spring is starting and I am looking forward to flowering.

Another reason I love the market is the fish. Fresh fish from local fishermen can always be bought at the Zemun market.

Some markets are too noisy and then I can't wait to finish shopping and leave, but Zemun Market is different. Everything there is calm and slow.

And of course, there are apples. Lots of apples of different kinds.

Here you can buy domestic apples. Their appearance is therefore not perfect, they are not too big and the same shape, but they are very sweet and tasty, and one kilogram costs only about 0.50 $. There are even for 0.30 $.

You can also buy various types of tea here... As well as a dried fruit. I am especially impressed by the dried ginger because of its special taste.

On my way back from the market I photographed some interesting spots that caught my attention.

The door of an old building. Through this door we can peek into the way of life here, relaxing and calm.

A lone crow on an old wall. At the moment, I wanted to be in its place, to enjoy some shade and fly whenever I wanted. 🙂

The architectural style of old buildings, facades, colorful doors, and windows...

The view of the Danube. It is always soothing, especially in the morning when there is no crowd and you can hear the silence by the river.
