Music as believed is the pleasant combination of sounds which is agelong since the inception of humanity and have found different expressions in different tribes, culture and nations of the world. Though evolved over time, music has been of a vantage to humanity in it been used for relaxative, educative, informative and therapeutic purpose. However, music can have influence on the two sides of life as either positive (good) or negative (bad) depending on several conditions and how it is been used.
• Good music: Meaning, influence and examples
Good music to me is any musical piece that is pleasant to hearing, has positive influence, of good content, unique and achieves its intended function. A good music is pleasant to the hearing i.e. melodious and fascinating which differentiates it from noise. In addition, a good music maximizes the elements of music like harmony, melody, good rhythm and so on. A good music exerts a positive influence to the public which can be inform of entertainment, educational/enlightenment, informative, promotes peace/unity, therapeutic/relaxative and so on.
A good music must be of a good content e.g. lyrically which is devoid of sentiments, vulgar, provocative or been negatively incisive. Good music be unique and original in form and should be reproducible. A good music should also achieve its intended purpose (here positively) because if otherwise, it isn't a good music any longer. The influence of a good music are the positive resultant effects from such music which makes its memory lasting and unforgettable (in positive sense) to many having a general recognition and acceptance.
Examples of good music includes that of cultural troupe display at events or ceremonies either of national, private or individuals which entertains and also promotes the rich cultural heritage aswell as national peace and unity. Recently here in Nigeria, we lost a music icon whose music is well accepted and of national/continental significance with her unique voice, instrumentation and style. Onyeka Onwenu's "ONE LOVE" song produced in 1991 still have significance and relevance uptill today even after her demise in fostering and promoting love and peace among everyone here in Nigeria. Therefore, good music in voice, style, instrumentation, arrangement, content and purpose has a lasting positive impact.

• Bad music: Meaning, influence and examples
Bad music to me is the direct opposite of all what i have said about as regards good music. Bad music is any music piece that is not pleasant to the hearing, has negative influence, of bad content, non-unique and achieves its intended function (negatively). A bad music is most times of a distorted sound quality which is not set at any frequency and hence, not pleasant to hearing i.e. dismelodius e.g. noise. The influence of a bad music is negative as it can stir up frictions, disharmony and similar thing in the general public.
The content of bad music can be vulgar, provocative, negatively incisive, causes disharmony and other similar thing. Bad music to me can be a stolen idea or concept from another musician or performing a certain musical piece below the standard of the original song. Also, a bad music can be one which didn't follow the standard guidelines of music production in a particular company and hence, risk been banned or been banned as a result of guideline breach. For example, here in Nigeria, the National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) banned some songs produced by some popular nigerian music artiste for failing some set guidelines. Reference
Music is all encompassing and what determines it been good or bad based on personal view are what i have mentioned above. The impact of music is great and the more the reason why it ought to be maximized effectively.
