Kicking Off the Weekend - Saturday Kickball Play!

My kids always look forward to Saturday mornings. We head to a local school where a group of expat kids meet up to play kickball.

This activity is organized by one of the moms and she does a great job of teaching and encouraging the kids! They always start off with stretching, which is led by a different kid each week to give all of them the chance to lead. This is one activity my kids always hope to miss, but, even if we're late, they don't start until we get there. Ha!

We are, by far, the largest family that participates. There are usually around 20 kids or so. It's always a fun time! The kids prefer to play a game, but they also have practice time where they learn different techniques about the game.

The kids are split into two teams. They try to make them even, but sometimes it's obvious that one is dominating the other. My oldest son says he's always on the losing team, but I guess it builds his character! They are taught how to kick, run, catch, and play like a team.

Usually, the kids have a great time and enjoy the time with friends on Saturdays. Sometimes it's cloudy and sometimes it's sunny, but it has only rained on the game once!

The younger kids who go are called VIP and are allowed to kick the ball and run the bases without being tagged out. They don't score a point, but they learn how to play and get to practice running around!

My little girlie just loves getting to kick the ball and run! She thinks it's so fun to make it back to home plate without being tagged. I've even noticed over the last few weeks that she is running faster!

I'm glad there is an organized sport for the kids to play on the weekend with their friends. I love that they have fun, and even the kids that aren't super athletic can still have a great time and try.

After the game, the coach has popsicles and drinks for sale. As we drive home, the kids talk about it all. They recount each play and talk about who did what right or wrong.

These kickball games on Saturday morning are something they look forward to each week, so I'm glad that they have this time to play with their friends!
