A little boy and a little dog

The text from our son arrived on Thursday with the most tantalising invitation, it read - Are you coming to the soccer game on Saturday morning to watch our 6 year old play? After a week of daily hospital treatments for my hubby how could we not. So we did! It only meant one extra night in Brisbane before driving home to the Sunshine Coast.

As it panned out I did not get to watch much of the game as I put my hand up to look after the 4 year who was wearing his yellow rain coat. He takes absolutely no interest with soccer games much preferring to climb trees and wander. Fair enough, it is what 4 year old boys do.

Hand in hand walking and talking passed the trees and the smelly toilets the 4 year old and I rounded the corner toward the coffee van the barbecue stand to come face to face with a smiley Timmy, the 17 year old miniature terrier. Doesn't he look a fantastically youthful for a 17 year old dog?

Timmy's owner standing in the coffee van encouraged us to gently pat Timmy's back, not his ears or head.

The 4 year old loves dogs, he has grown up with Willow the Weimaraner. Although gentle he is only 4 so completely understandable for him to get a little over exuberant with his patting. The owner explained that Timmy was a rescue dog from the pound. He had been badly treated and did not like men which is assumed a man hurt him when he was a puppy.

But cute Timmy really liked me and the 4 year old. He was very happy with then pats and the attention.

Such a fun time with Timmy included a photo shoot. The 4 year old did a bang up job snapping some very funny pics. Timmy's owner was in the background telling the 4 year old to lift up the camera a bit.

The 4 year old listened fairly well and took a much better second shot. I think the finger over the lens adds to the special pizazz of the photos.

After lots of pats we said goodbye to Timmy and his owner to go and buy the 4 year old a sausage in a piece of bread at the Barbecue Stand.

Not surprisingly the 4 year old wanted to visit Timmy again which of course we did. I think this last photo would have to one of the cutest ones.

Going to the soccer on Saturday was more than a lot of fun and when I see the 4 year old tomorrow in Brisbane, I know he will really like looking at the photos of Timmy. Rain is predicted in Brisbane this week so it looks like the 4 year old will get to wear his rain coat when it is actually raining.

Every weekend is different always a good feel and always to be enjoyed as much as possible. I have to say it is made all the more enjoyable re-living my fun time when I write about them under The Weekend tag. It is also the time I like to quietly thank the energetically creative @galenkp for creating this tag for Hive.

I am finishing my post sharing a photo of a gum tree flower. There are lots of different kinds of gum trees in Australia and it is not often that I actually get up close and personal with a flowering gum. A branch was growing over the fence of a front yard in a Brisbane home last week with a very pretty deep pink flower in full bloom. It was a marvellous photo opportunity.
