MG HS Review with a Brew

Review with a brew time, our shorter reviews are proving popular on the channel, retention rate has increased across the board and people are generally watching over 50% so yes this new format it is working.

Anyway enough stats and analytics, the MG HS the SUV that replaces the GS.

Now the HS if truth be known is far more like the ZS than the GS. The GS was SAIC owned first MG SUV and there are mixed feelings about the car.

We had it on review be around 3 years ago we drove i to Wembley from the Lake District and it didn't skip, with it's 1.5 turbo petrol engine economy wasn't the greatest, but in all honesty we didn't know what to expect, it was a decent vehicle nice to drive and far quicker than you'd give it credit for.

Now the brand new HS, well this is a completely different kettle of fish, first it starts at just around £18,000 tops out for the Exclusive and around £23,000, you can get a five speed manual or a DCT and it's powered by 1.5 Turbo pertrol engine, no diesel and hybrid / ev are on the horizon.
and yes the engine is similar to the GS.

However that is likley only one of the few similarities, this vehicle is far more refined, premium finishes, a panoramic sunroof even get a power tailgate is available and safety wise, well this has come on in leaps and bounds with everything bicycle detection to blind spot monitor.

MG's first vehicles were NCAP 3, now all are designed to satisfy four but achieve five.

The model we have is exclusive with a manual gearbox, it's an engaging vehicle, not too much body roll, comfortable and with the top trim you end up with LED lights and lots more

There's a range of alloy wheels and even soft touch plastics in the back, it's comfortable, roomy and great value for the money, economy wiseanything from 30 to 42 I was pretty much getting between 32 and 35.

The HSE is certainly the direction MG wants to be heading quite randomly today we saw there is a ZS facelift on the horizon, as well a a new estate which will be the 5.
