Mercedes Benz C124 Update OVP Relay replaced

Dorothy in the last year or so has been getting more and more challenging to start up, for example it would 4 to 8 turns of the key to get her to fire up.

This usually points to plug, coil packs, coil, injectors, CSV, dizzy etc dependant on the car, well with the W124 models it isn't any one of these, it's more likely to be the OVP Relay, which is the Over Voltage Protection relay which sits near the battery and on Dorothy attached to the ECU housing - there are a number tell tale signs, erratic idling, lumpy acceleration, and biggest one a constant ABS light.

I wanted an MB part, Autodoc etc sold parts but where possibe i'll use OEM parts, therefore we contacted our local Mercedes dealership and enquired about the relay, they told us there was 14 in the UK, sorted.

I got the part yesterday and fitted it, I noticed the part no. was slightly different, but it was the same format and had 9 pins instead of 7 and two fuses on the top, of what I read this didn't affect it.

I went to fire up Dorothy and she started first tim, also no more ABS light, and the car is now smoother and faster, and more than likely more economical.
