Dorothy our C124 / W124 Coupe 230CE returns after 12 weeks of restoration

It's been a long time coming however last Saturday the wait came to an end Annabelle received the call off Christian, our W124 Coupe or C124 was finished and Lady Dorothy had passed the MOT the previous day with flying colours and no advisories.

I was in mid trampoline at the time and by the time disembarkation, the Mercedes was well on its way, now with covid 19 and social distancing this makes everything a bit different.

Therefore Mum and I went to the top of the lane, and when we heard the first clunk, sounded like a ramp being dropped, we peeped out and we could see the car be offloaded.

It was amazing to see, she had been away over 12 weeks, the whole job took around 58 hours included welding, removing and replacing parts, refurbing the wheels and of course getting it through its MOT.

Christian warned us not to expect the greatest wheels and we were pleasantly surprised as you can see from the picture

He drove the car down the lane and we went and grabbed our disinfecting gear and started cleaning, I then drove the car round to the garage forecourt, it literally stayed there for about five minutes and then we went for our first drive.

The last time I drove the car it was a very different experience, it was likely that both subframes had given way, and everything was being held on by the propshaft and sheer luck, because it felt like a drift car for all the wrong reasons.

I didn't quite know what to expect, and my word the difference is phenomenal, before it seemed to have a really strange stance, not anymore. However not surprising with all new parts including springs, shocks, new bushes, brake lines, Mercedes battery and of course new subframe mounts, it drove like a new car.

There we have it Lady Dorothy has returned, she's been away from Silverdale just under two years and is now back where she rightfully belongs, we need to find out when the next event is on when lockdown will ease - of course when it's only safe. Then it's time to find an event to showcase at and of course get our fix of classic cars.

Welcome back Dorothy.
