Random Boat Incidents 1

I do stuff with boats and boaters. Sometimes they cruise, and sometimes they fish. When weird stuff happens, I am expected to write a report.

Ames Rucker

Incident report for June 10th 2023.
Ames Rucker And Casper started the day on the wrong boat due to an other member’s confusion with early checkout process along with the Thresher’s boat keys being interchangeable. Ames Rucker was very patient, polite, and forgiving.

Unfortunately, when Ames returned, Raven noticed a broken VHF antenna. Ames said it broke when their fish net snagged it.

Due to the boat’s ongoing fuel tank issues, Ames was unable to replenish all of the fuel he used. He said the fuel regurgitated several times, and almost sprayed in his face.
Ames also said it seems like they burned an excessive amount of gas. For a Thresher boat going to Catalina, 45 gallons sounds about right in my opinion.

Upon further inspection, we noticed an odor of fuel, and we could see some type of boat fluid in the water in the aft bilge area.

After dealing with returning boats and other situations, unrelated, I returned to the boat to complete the check in process. At this time I attempted to trim the engine up for normal overnight storage. The trim function sounded strange, and it looked like there wasn’t enough functionality to completely raise the engine.
