Today I want to show you something very useful if you have cryptocurrency assets on other blockchains. Many people think that they need a centralized exchange to be able to send crypto assets to the Hive Blockchain. For several (though not all) cryptocurrencies, this is not the case, for they can actually be sent directly to your wallet on Hive Engine via their respective SWAP addresses.
With the increasing 'regulations' in various countries, it is becoming more difficult to transfer assets using a centralized exchange, as people in the US are experiencing now. On that topic I'll just say that the reason that crypto regulations are being implemented globally is because crypto gives the power and ownership of money back to the people, and a slave system can't have that. This is precisely why Hive is so important, it is the only decentralized, community-owned, developed, operated, and governed blockchain in the world. It can't be shut down or stopped, as there is no single individual, group, or company that owns it. There is no place to send a summons and nobody to sue. Do you grok just how incredible that is? We have something very special indeed here on Hive.
Now on to showing you how to receive and send various crypto assets on Hive Engine. I'll be doing so today using the Hive Keychain Android app on my Motorola G Power Android phone, though the process is the same if you want to do it via a web browser on your computer.
First head over to Hive Engine and sign in if you aren't already. Once you've done that, click on the hamburger menu in the upper left.
Clicking on it will open a pull-down menu with various options. Click on Wallet at the bottom.
To receive crypto assets from other chains, click on Deposit. A window will open with useful information on receiving assets from other chains. Below that you'll see a token menu where you can type in or scroll to find your desired asset.
A quick note. Some assets require MetaMask or a Web3 wallet to interface with Hive Engine to be able to transfer assets. If this is not detected, then you'll receive a red pop-up error message in the upper right. This is only needed for certain assets such as BNB or ETH.
Type in or scroll to find your desired asset. I chose BCH here. Once an asset is selected, its deposit address will be shown. Click on Copy to copy the address to your clipboard. You can also manually highlight and copy the address as well, but be absolutely certain to highlight the entire address when you copy it, as you can lose assets sent to an incomplete address. Each time you go to deposit assets, you'll receive a new deposit address. This allows you to easily track from where assets are coming when they arrive in Hive Engine.
if you want to deposit BTC, no worries, you're covered.
If you want to deposit LTC, you're also good to go.
Do you have lots of DOGE? All good, you can deposit that too.
If, for whatever reason, you want to send crypto assets from Hive Engine to an external address, that can also be done easily. It should be noted that each asset will have a minimum withdraw amount. As you can see here, for BTC, it is .01, which is actually quite a lot.
To give you an example of how deposits will appear in your Ecency app notifications, here is a screenshot that I took a few months ago for BCH.
Here's how it appears in PeakD. PeakD gives more information, as you can see, including the address on which the asset was received. This allows you track what comes from where, as each will have a unique deposit address.
Here is a list of crypto assets from other chains which can be received or sent on Hive Engine. This list is not complete, so you'll have to check if your desired asset exists in Hive Engine. I got most, though not all of them.
