The plight of getting an apartment in Lagos

I have a friend who wants to relocate to Lagos State from Oyo State. He made up his mind to relocate to Epe with his family. He had called me about two weeks ago. He wanted a place closer to Ibadan and not too far from notable places in Lagos. Talking about where life is happening. There are some specific locations in Lagos where you can enjoy yourself with ambience and a serene environment. However, such a location is not a place to choose as a residential apartment because of the amount of money that would go into the rent. Imagine spending millions of naira just to get a place as a residence. However, some people are willing to pay without considering the said amount. When it comes to luxury some people can pay what it takes even if they have to pay through their nose.

I have advised my friend not to get an apartment that will be difficult to renew when paying the subsequent rent. It is better one cut one's clothes according to the available materials. I'm glad he is someone who reasons that such an exorbitant amount is too much to pay just for rent. He had come down to Lagos last night so that we could both go for the house hurting.

We left home early this morning so that we could get to see as many houses as possible, then we could select the one of our choice. I have called a friend who resides in Epe ahead of time to acquaint us with some locations that will be suitable for residents and also have a good road, though, we all know that getting a good road is just one of the things we have to deal with here in Nigeria. I specifically mentioned we want a well-furnished apartment and a motorable road.

Luckily for us, the first house we see is super good. The environment and the road leading to the house are Wow! We are ready to pay instantly. We called the attorney in charge of the apartment and he directed us to his office. On getting to his office, we met another thing. As we were about the pay, the attorney quickly put a call through to the owner of the house but unfortunately, he said someone else had paid for the apartment. We left there in disappointment. When we were going, we stopped over at the filling station to buy fuel. My friend suggested that we should ask around if we could see an agent who could introduce another apartment to us. We were lucky to get an agent close by. We picked me up and he directed us to the location where he felt would be suitable for a family of four.

We went to six different houses before we could see the one of our choice. I didn't know that looking for a place to stay could be that difficult and tiring. I'm happy that our effort was not in vain.
