Elon Musk Suggests A Pause In Advance AI Tech (Concerned About Its Risk To Society)

Coincidentally, I saw the news of Elon Musk and other tech giants suggesting a pause in advanced AI tech and just a couple hours after I watched the CEO of OpenAI being interviewed about AI and its effect and possible impacts on society. Elon and these other big tech giants are citing the reason for their suggestion of a pause is to assess the risk these advance AI would pose on society.

I find it interesting that the CEO of OpenAI says he knows AI would have some kinds of impacts on society that may not be good for example many jobs that would be taken away and the fact that AI could be misused for example asked to give a complete guidance on how to make things like bombs and using AI for hacking. He however stated that he expects more jobs to be created from the use of AI and people would be having access to more information and getting educated so easily.

As much as I'm still on the fence on AI matters, I'm not sure taking a pause is exactly what we need now and this is why. A pause is only going to delay what we know about this tech and what it could do, and so perhaps a better approach to understanding the risks involved in its development should go on while laws and regulations are in place that these AI models should and must follow. A pause is only a delay, but then, this might also be for the better good of society because the rate at which many AI models are being developed is so crazy and people really don't know how massive their risks are just yet.

Elon is a big investor in AI development and seeing him also suggesting a pause kinda shows he is very concerned about what could happen if these advanced AI models aren't well studied and scrutinised before being deployed.
