did you know, that you have potentially free money laying around you were even not aware of?
BLURT, a new (but rather poorly communicated) Steem fork, did recently an airdrop to all Steem users as of a cutoff date some weeks ago, which means that even people who powered down 100% of their Steem (like me) got some free BLURT. In my case it was app. 20500 BLURT, staked to BLURT Power.
All you need to do is first power down to liquidify that BP (which I had started some days ago).
At https://blurtwallet.com/ you can check how many BLURTs you have been airdropped and also start your power down (it will take at least 13 weeks).
Next step is to find an exchange where you can sell the BLURTs.
I found Ionomy, in fact @ionomy even recently announced here their listing of BLURT. It is not the best exchange with quite a low volume, but for smaller trades it is not that bad.
In ionomy, go to wallets, and when you found the BLURT wallet, click on this "deposit" symbol:
A window with the deposit information pops up. As always, when you transfer Coins to an exchange account, don´t forget to use the provided memo for the BLURT transfer.
After you copied the memo, go back to https://blurtwallet.com/ and enter the memo in the memo field and use also the correct receiver (in this case "ionomy", the @ is already provided)
You have to confirm the transfer with your active STEEM key!
Once the BLURT are on the exchange, you can sell them by entering the amount and the price
If you want to sell them right away, pick as price the highest bid price (in this case 0,00000308 BTC, app.0,028$), if you think you can get more for your BLURT or you don´t need them fast, then take a higher one and wait until the order gets filled.
In total I could sell my first power down batch of 1588 BLURT for 0,00489 BTC, app. 45$.
Finally, send the BTC to a safe wallet or - even better - buy some Hive for it!
I just did it on Ionomy (the Hive price is not that different compared to a big exchange (app. 1$ per 300 Hive bought), so for that little volume it was not worth to send the BTC around).
In summary, for 1588 BLURT I could get 209 Hive which I sent to my Hive wallet and powered up!
