I realized the other day while reading about the proposed Atomic Swaps between Steem and Tron, that I had read an article about five months ago, written by @aggroed about cross blockchain trading using another method, a software construct called Cryptoconverter. It seems that the developer @privex had figured out how to trade Tokens on the EOS blockchain and the Steem blockchain side Chain Steem Engine. At that time a token called the Crypto-Peso was traded on the EOS blockchain and utilizing a software construct by @privex we are able to trade the CryptoPeso here on the Steem blockchain via Steem Engine. This is pretty amazing software developer milestone, which had quietly been reached here at Steem with little or no fanfare. The team at Steem-Engine; ( @harpagon, @yabapmatt, @aggroed) have given us this marvelous new Steem blockchain sidechain Steem-Engine which is marvelous stuff by itself, but the Crypto-Peso is a Token for sale on ANOTHER blockchains TOKEN MARKET! I think that’s pretty impressive, but wait...there’s more.
Decentralized Finance is the current Big News in cryptocurrency and blockchain, because it brings finance and technology together to facilitate commerce; translation “make money”. The Global Financial System is currently unable to unlock equity in many types of assets like Real Estate, Art and other valuables due to high price and small number of potential buyers. Fractional ownership solves the problem by proving large numbers of buyers, but it’s highly regulated and frequently involves deals across countries, which doesn’t work well. Enter this picture financial technology people. They figure out how to represent real assets with nonfungible tokens, then sell hundreds, thousands or millions of tokens representing fractional ownership. This unlocks the equity in these high priced assets by providing buyers of a piece of the asset. This allows people to sell up to 49% of an asset, have spendable cash or fiat and still control their asset. This also allows people to raise cash for investments or to earn money by providing loans, using the capitalunlocked by nonfungible tokens and a decentralized finance system like the MakerDao on the Ethereum blockchain. Your probably thinking this is an academic exercise. But actually it’s going on now on the Ethereum blockchain.The ERC tokens have nonfungible types. There are standard smart contracts which facilitate the Tokenization of assets. The assets are locked up and never move, but the digital tokens can be sold to buyers all over the world. The MakerDao had a market capitalization of 90 million USD before this Coronavirus broke out, up from 14 million one year ago. So this makes money. Real money. We have nonfungible tokens here, the equivalent of special ERC tokens needed to drive this money making machine. Plus the current backbone of this rapidly growing new financial market called the Ethereum blockchain. But it costs both Ether and Gas on that blockchain, which means it’s expensive. Our transactions here are not only faster but also free. Plus we have our own stable coin the SBD! We could do this, either through cross chain trading or attracting people to our chain to trade here with smaller fees! There are so many marvelous things on this blockchain, which could make holders of Steem wealthy with some publicity and development.
