Ethereum is lagging behind Bitcoin as the much-awaited Shapella upgrade approaches. Analysts were hopeful that ETH would soar above $2,000, but it's currently trading at $1,867 just hours before the upgrade. After Bitcoin surged above $30,400 on Tuesday, it experienced a pullback, which triggered a sell-off in ETH price as well. The Shapella upgrade will enable the withdrawal of staked ether on the blockchain, but many analysts think it can increase selling pressure. Despite increased investor interest, the hype of the major upgrade hasn't been enough to push ETH above its August 2022 high of $2,030. In the coming days, the price may remain sideways as BTC attempts to defend the key psychological level of $30,000.
