News and Opinion: September 9, 2022. US Household Net Worth Decreases by 6.1 Trillion US$

The US household net worth decreased by 6.1 trillion US$ in the second quarter of 2022. This represents a 4.1%. this was driven by the decline in the stock market mainly, as it lost 7.7 trillion US$ in the same period. The decline was somewhat contained by an increase in the value of real estate held by households as it rose by 1.4 trillion US$.

There is a concern that if the real estate value starts to decline, that the US household net worth will suffer more.
