Kazakhstan has decided to invest in the generation of green hydrogen. Green hydrogen is generated by electrolysis of water. The electricity for electrolysis has to come from renewable sources such as solar or wind.

By 2032, Kazakhstan should be producing 2 million tons of green hydrogen. There is the issue of transportation to the main market which would be Europe. Current natural gas pipelines could be used and hydrogen could travel mixed with natural gas. Transport by train and sea is also being considered.

In my opinion, hydrogen, as energy storage, is less pollutant than a lithium battery. Some time and money will be needed to create the proper pipeline infrastucture.
