No im not having a stroke nor am i kidnapped by ISIS. Dont worry. This is an actual title im using.
Looking at the title photo you can guess its a TV show im referring to. An "Apple" original show. I thought all Apple did was run Iphone sweatshops in Asia. Had no idea they had Tv Shows too!
Exciting!
While ive been browsing the internet for something to watch when i have breakfast i ran into "Ted Lasso".
Its a fairly shitty name for a show imo. Sounds like a name Ted Bundy would pick for himself if he was from Texas.
Anyways.. The show is about a American football coach that got a job as a Premiere league, real football, coach in England. The whole show is based on Jason Sudeikis ads for NBC in 2013 that somehow got made into a TV show.
The premise is ridiculous and it requires a fair amount of suspension of disbelief, especially if youre a football fan, but with everything that could go wrong, it did so much right.
If you dont read anything else, this show is my favorite of 2020.
I am a huge football fan but i never actually played football. I was a semi-pro basketball player, played in Croatian second league.
Im good with my hands (theres a joke in there somewhere. :D ) but shit with my feet since i grew really fast (another joke there lol). Have fun with that.
So, every time i see a sports movie or a series thats serious about the skill of its players and they end up looking like shit im not happy.
My ex once made me watch "Tree Hill" where they played basketball and i laughed my ass off.
Here, you can kind of digest it. Im bsing you.. Not really. Sure the footballer actors know a few tricks but you can see they arent convincing as pros.
But its a feel good TV show for Mericans that dont even watch football. Just forget its the Premiere league. Maybe for League 3 it could pass of as, barely.
The Gist
I have a hate hate relationships with US tv comedy. I think its garbage. The Original British "Office" was FAAAAAAAR funnier than Steve Carrels take on it.
But Brit comedy is stuck up, arrogant and too "cheeky" for wider audiences so you need some of that American watering down to make it approachable to mainstream.
Ted Lasso is the best of both worlds.
What i love most about it is that the actors can act and every character is interesting, except Beard maybe.
You have a 30 year old supermodel chick that loves to bone 20 year old footballers, you have a @belemo thats happy hes in premiere league, you got a cocky english prick that turns around in the end, a scorned woman in the football owner, a peppy manager that dont know a offside from a throw in, a towel boy with tactics skills, a grumpy "young" man...
The show has it all and its not boring 1 sec of the way.
Conclusion:
If you dont watch this show youre a wanker and a bellend.
