The pre-sale of the card packs of the new Chaos Legion collection is an event awaited by many Splinterlands players including myself.
I have summarized in tabular form some information of the Chaos Legion presale (image below).
Some friends like @robibasa and @mad-runner have asked me for advice while other friends like @poliwalt10 have asked me to participate in buying pools.
To answer all the people who asked me for information and advice about the upcoming Chaos Legion presale I decided to write this post in which I share some considerations, calculations and assumptions with the aim of giving as much information as possible to those who asked me for help to facilitate their decision to participate or not in the presale that will start on Monday, October 18, 2021.
The advantages of the presale
The convenience of whether or not to participate in the presale depends primarily on the advantages of participating in the presale.
The benefits offered by the presale are not the same for all presale participants and depend on the number of card packs purchased during the presale.
Benefits based on the number of packs of cards purchased
Those who buy more packs of cards will have more advantages and below I list the various advantages according to the possible cases of purchase:
- from 1 to 49 packs purchased: 2% chance per pack to receive via airdrop at the end of the presale one limited-edition promo card.
For example, someone who buys 30 packs of cards during the presale will have a 60% chance of receiving 1 limited-edition promo card.
- From 50 to 99 packs purchased:
- 2% chance per pack to receive limited edition promotional card.
- guaranteed to receive a limited edition promo card for every 50 packs purchased.
In this case one promo card is guaranteed and those who purchase 99 packs of cards will have a 98% chance of also receiving a second promo card.
- from 100 to 499 packs purchased:
- 2% chance per pack of cards to receive one limited edition promo card.
- guarantee to receive 1 limited edition promo card for every 50 packs purchased**.
In this case, 2 promo cards are guaranteed (100 packs of cards) and those who purchase 499 cards will have 9 guaranteed promo cards and a 98% chance of receiving 10 promo cards total. - 10% bonus on the number of card packs purchased.
Those who buy 100 packs will receive 10 packs as a bonus = 110 packs of cards.
- From 500 to 999 packs purchased:
- 2% chance for each pack of cards purchased to receive the limited edition promo card.
- guarantee to receive 1 limited edition promo card for every 50 packs purchased.
- 15% bonus on the number of card packs purchased.
Those who buy 500 packs will receive 75 packs as a bonus = 575 packs of cards.
- From 1000 to 1999 packs purchased:
- 2% chance per pack to receive limited edition promotional card.
- guarantee to receive 1 limited edition promo card for every 50 packs purchased.
- 15% bonus on the number of card packs purchased.
- guarantee to receive 1 limited edition Gold promo card for every 1000 packs of cards purchased**.
For example, if you purchase 1000 packs of cards, you will receive at least:- 19 limited edition promo cards
- 1 limited edition promo card in Gold version
- acquisition of the title "The Legionnaire" (it will probably have value in the calculation of points of the airdrop of SPS tokens)
- from 2000 card packs purchased:
Whoever buys 2000+ packs of cards will have all the advantages of the previous case and in addition will have a bonus of 20% on the number of packs purchased.
For example, who buys 2000 packs of cards will receive: - a total of 2400 packs of cards
- a minimum of 18 limited edition promo cards + 2 limited edition promo cards in gold version.
The obstacle of token Vouchers
The above advantages would make the choice to participate in the presale obvious because advantageous and without contraindications.
But it is not so because there is an obstacle to overcome for those who want to buy packs of cards during the presale: the Vouchers tokens.
No Voucher = No Party! (No Pack!)
During the presale 1 million Chaos Legion card packs will be made available for purchase and 1 million Voucher tokens will be distributed at the same time.
The requirement to buy a pack of cards is to have and use a Voucher token.
The Voucher token distribution mechanism
Starting on the first day of the presale of the Chaos Legion collection card packs and every day for the duration of 30 days, an amount of 33333 Vouchers will be distributed to players who have staked their SPS tokens according to the following formula:
33333 / total SPS staked * SPS staked by player
Calculate the number of tokens you can receive in relation to the amount of SPS tokens staked is easy thanks to the calculator of the site https://www.splintercards.com/tool-vouchers.html
According to the results of the calculator of the site Splintercards who like me has 9000 SPS tokens in staked will receive 2.44 token Voucher per day for a total of 73 token Voucher after 30 days.
Obviously the above calculation is an estimated calculation because if the total amount of SPS tokens staked will increase during the presale the amount of Voucher tokens I will receive will decrease.
In fact at the time I am writing this post there are more than 100000 liquid SPS tokens that could be staked during the presale.
Buy or Skip?
If there hadn't been VOUCHER tokens, participating in the presale would have been an opportunity not to be missed more than a possible choice.
Voucher tokens instead change everything and the convenience to participate to the presale will depend on their future value.
Voucher tokens will be distributed on the first day of the presale so today it's not possible to buy them but on Hive Engine there are already some offers to buy them.
As you can see in the image above, user @trifenix for example is willing to buy one VOUCHER token at the price of 20 HIVE while user @shauner is willing to buy 5 VOUCHER tokens at the price of 10 HIVE each for a total of 50 HIVE.
20 HIVE = $17.16.
10 HIVE = $8.58.
Based on current purchase requests a token Voucher would cost more than twice as much as a pack of Chaos Legion cards.
Let's assume that the average cost of a VOUCHER token will be during the presale of 10 HIVE.
Is it worth paying $12.58 for a pack of cards during the presale when after the presale it can be bought for $4?
The answer to this question will depend solely on the value of the card that will be distributed to presale participants.
Today we do not know which card will be distributed to the participants of the pre-sale as we do not know the battle characteristics of the card and therefore at the moment we can only make some considerations and evaluations.
50 packs purchased will guarantee 1 limited edition promo card.
1000 packs purchased will guarantee 1 limited edition promo card in Gold version.
On 1 million packs of cards sold during the presale at least 20000 promo cards will be distributed (1000000/50).
Of these 20000 cards 1000 cards will be Gold version (1000000/1000).
In the hypothetical case in which 1 VOUCHER will cost 10 HIVE = 8,58$, to be sure to receive at least one Promo card I will have to buy 50 packs of cards whose total cost will be given by the sum of the following values:
- 200$ (4$ * 50 packs of cards)
- $429 ($8.58 * 50 packs of cards)**.
If I spend 629$ to buy 50 packs of cards I will have a profit and therefore it will have been profitable to participate in the presale if the card I will receive from the airdrop will have a value higher than 429$ otherwise I will have obtained only a loss.
By the way if I look at the values of the cards currently on the market I find only a few cards (Regular version) whose value exceeds $ 429.
In the following image you can see the level 1 cards that have a selling price on the market higher than 429$.
From the cards in the image above it is better to exclude the cards that have a very limited circulation because their value is also given by the scarcity of copies present.
If the card distributed to the participants of the airdrop will be really strong and useful in battle as for example the summoner card Yodin Zaku then it could be convenient to buy 50 packs of cards during the pre-sale and spend 12.58$ per pack because I would spend 429$ to receive a card with a market value of 688$ (level 1).
In addition, in evaluating the possible market value of the card received from the first airdrop should also be considered that the Yodin Zaku cards in circulation are only 1970.
The limited edition promo cards will be at least 20000 even if the combination operation to get stronger cards should make this value go down.
For this reason in the case of a voucher worth 10 HIVE the promo card should be even more useful than Yodin Zaku to have a comparable value.
Conclusion
My participation in the Chaos Legion presale will then depend on two important elements to consider:
- voucher token sales value.
- battle statistics and potential value of the limited edition promo card.
The answers to the following questions will be crucial to my decision whether or not to participate in the presale.
If the limited edition promo card will not be announced before the end of the presale I will most likely not participate in the presale because I do not have the basis to calculate a possible estimated profit so I will sell all my Voucher tokens and when the sale of the cards will be open to all I will try to buy at least 1000 packs of Chaos Legion cards.
If the cost of the Voucher tokens will be more than half of the cost of a pack of cards (2$) I will participate in the pre-sale only if the airdrop card will be really useful in battle otherwise as in the first case I will sell all my VOUCHER tokens and postpone the purchase of the CHAOS LEGION packs.
There are also other elements to consider when deciding whether or not to buy during the presale:
- Card packs bought during the presale will be immediately counted in the calculation of the SPS token airdrop score?
- Will the title received by someone who buys 1000 packs of cards be immediately counted in the calculation of the SPS token airdrop score?
I think we will have the answers to these questions soon because the pre-sale of Chaos Legion card packs is now close.

Mancano poco più di tre giorni all'inizio della prevendita dei pacchi di carte della nuova collezione di carte di Splinterlands: la collezione Chaos Legion.
La prevendita dei pacchi di carte della nuova collezione Chaos Legion è un evento atteso da tanti giocatori di Splinterlands me compreso.
Ho riassunto in forma tabellare alcuni dettagli della prevendita Chaos Legion (immagine seguente).
Alcuni amici come @robibasa e @mad-runner mi hanno chiesto consigli mentre altri amici come @poliwalt10 mi hanno chiesto di partecipare a pools di acquisto.
Per rispondere a tutte le persone che mi hanno chiesto informazioni e consigli sull'imminente prevendita Chaos Legion ho pensato di scrivere questo post in cui condivido alcune considerazioni, calcoli e ipotesi con lo scopo di schiarire le idee a chi mi ha chiesto aiuto per facilitare la decisione di partecipare o meno alla prevendita che partirà lunedi 18 ottobre 2021.
I vantaggi della prevendita
La convenienza nel partecipare o meno alla prevendita dipende principalmente dai vantaggi che offre la partecipazione alla prevendita.
I vantaggi offerti dalla prevendita non sono uguali per tutti i partecipanti alla prevendita e dipendono dal numero dei pacchi di carte acquistati durante la prevendita.
I Vantaggi in base al numero di pacchi di carte acquistati
Chi acquista più pacchi di carte avrà più vantaggi e di seguito elenco i vari vantaggi in base ai possibili casi di acquisto:
- da 1 a 49 pacchi acquistati: 2% chance per ogni pacco di ricevere tramite airdrop alla fine della prevendita una carta promo limited-edition.
Ad esempio chi acquista 30 pacchi di carte durante la prevendita avrà il 60% di probabilità di ricevere 1 carta promo in edizione limitata.
- da 50 a 99 pacchi acquistati:
- 2% di chance per ogni pacco di ricevere la carta promo in edizione limitata
- garanzia di ricevere una carta promo in edizione limitata ogni 50 pacchi acquistati.
In questo caso una carta promo è garantita e chi acquista 99 pacchi di carte avrà la possibilità del 98% di ricevere anche una seconda carta promo.
da 100 a 499 pacchi acquistati:
- 2% di chance per ogni pacco di carte di ricevere una carta promo in edizione limitata
- garanzia di ricevere 1 carta promo in edizione limitata ogni 50 pacchi acquistati.
In questo caso 2 carte promo sono garantite (100 pacchi di carte) e chi acquista 499 carte avrà 9 carte promo garantite e la probabilità del 98% di ricevere 10 carte promo in totale. - Bonus del 10% sul numero dei pacchi di carte acquistati.
Chi compra 100 pacchi riceverà 10 pacchi come bonus = 110 pacchi di carte.
da 500 a 999 pacchi acquistati:
- 2% di chance per ogni pacco di carte acquistato di ricevere la carta promo in edizione limitata
- garanzia di ricevere 1 carta promo in edizione limitata ogni 50 pacchi acquistati.
- Bonus del 15% sul numero dei pacchi di carte acquistati.
Chi compra 500 pacchi riceverà 75 pacchi come bonus = 575 pacchi di carte.
- da 1000 a 1999 pacchi acquistati:
- 2% di chance per ogni pacco di ricevere la carta promo in edizione limitata
- garanzia di ricevere 1 carta promo in edizione limitata ogni 50 pacchi acquistati.
- Bonus del 15% sul numero dei pacchi di carte acquistati.
- garanzia di ricevere 1 carta promo in edizione limitata in versione Gold ogni 1000 pacchi di carte acquistati.
Ad esempio chi acquista 1000 pacchi di carte riceverà come minimo:- 19 carte promo in edizione limitata
- 1 carta promo in edizione limitata in versione Gold
- acquisizione titolo "The Legionnaire" (probabilmente avrà valore nel calcolo dei punti dell'airdrop dei token SPS)
- da 2000 pacchi di carte acquistati:
Chi compra 2000+ pacchi di carte avrà tutti i vantaggi del caso precedente e in più avrà un bonus del 20% sul numero dei pacchi acquistati.
Ad esempio chi compra 2000 pacchi di carte riceverà: - un totale di 2400 pacchi di carte
- un minimo di 18 carte promo in edizione limitata + 2 carte promo in edizione limitata in versione gold.
L'ostacolo dei token Vouchers
I vantaggi sopra esposti renderebbero la scelta di partecipare alla prevendita ovvia e scontata perchè vantaggiosa e senza controindicazioni.
Ma non è così perchè c'è un ostacolo da superare per chi vuole comprare i pacchi di carte durante la prevendita: i token Vouchers.
No Voucher = No Party! (No Pack!)
Durante la prevendita saranno resi disponibili per l'acquisto 1 milione di pacchi di carte Chaos Legion e allo stesso tempo saranno distribuiti 1 milione di token Vouchers.
Il requisito per comprare un pacco di carte è avere e utilizzare un token Voucher.
Il meccanismo di distribuzione dei token Voucher
A partire dal primo giorno della prevendita dei pacchi di carte della collezione Chaos Legion e ogni giorno, per la durata di 30 giorni, un quantitativo di 33333 Voucher saranno distribuiti ai giocatori che hanno messo in staking i propri token SPS secondo la seguente formula:
33333 / totale SPS staked * SPS staked by player
Calcolare il numero dei token Voucher ricevibili in rapporto al quantitativo di token SPS messi in stake è facile grazie al calcolatore del sito https://www.splintercards.com/tool-vouchers.html
In base ai calcoli del calcolatore del sito Splintercards chi come me ha 9000 token SPS in staked riceverà 2.44 token Voucher al giorno per un totale di 73 token Voucher dopo 30 giorni.
Ovviamente il calcolo sopra esposto è un calcolo stimato perchè se il totale dei token SPS messi in staking aumenterà durante la prevendita diminuirà il quantitativo di token Voucher che riceverò.
Infatti nel momento in cui sto scrivendo questo post ci sono più di 100000 token SPS liquidi che potrebbero essere messi in staking durante la prevendita.
Buy or Skip?
Se non ci fossero stati i token VOUCHER partecipare alla presale sarebbe stata un'occasione da non perdere più che una possibile scelta.
I token Voucher invece cambiano tutto e la convenienza a partecipare alla presale dipenderà tutta dal loro valore.
I token Voucher saranno distribuiti il primo giorno della prevendita e quindi oggi non è possibile comprarli ma su Hive Engine ci sono già delle offerte di acquisto.
Come puoi vedere nell'immagine in alto, l'utente @trifenix ad esempio è disposto a comprare un token VOUCHER al prezzo di 20 HIVE mentre l'utente @shauner è disposto a comprare 5 token VOUCHER al prezzo di 10 HIVE l'uno per un totale di 50 HIVE.
20 HIVE = 17.16$
10 HIVE = 8.58$
In base alle richieste di acquisto attuali un token Voucher costerebbe più del doppio di un pacco di carte Chaos Legion.
Ipotizziamo che il costo medio di un token VOUCHER sarà durante la prevendita di 10 HIVE.
Conviene pagare un pacco di carte 12.58$ durante la prevendita quando dopo la prevendita può essere comprato a 4$?
La risposta a questa domanda dipenderà esclusivamente dal valore della carta che verrà distribuita ai partecipanti delle prevendita.
Ad oggi non si sa quale sarà la carta distribuita ai partecipanti alla prevendita come non si conoscono le caratteristiche di battaglia della carta e quindi al momento è possibile fare solo alcune considerazioni.
50 pacchi acquistati garantiranno 1 carta promo in edizione limitata.
1000 pacchi acquistati garantiranno 1 carta promo in edizione limitata in versione Gold.
Su 1 milione di pacchi di carte venduti durante la prevendita saranno distribuite almeno 20000 carte promo (1000000/50).
Di queste 20000 carte 1000 carte saranno in versione Gold (1000000/1000).
Nel caso ipotetico in cui 1 VOUCHER costerà 10 HIVE = 8,58$, per avere la certezza di ricevere almeno una carta Promo dovrò comprare 50 pacchi di carte il cui costo comnplessivo sarà dato dalla somma dei seguenti valori:
- 200$ (4$ * 50 pacchi di carte)
- 429$ (8.58$ * 50 pacchi di carte)
Avrò un profitto e di conseguenza sarà stato vantaggioso partecipare alla prevendita se la carta che riceverò dall'airdrop avrà un valore superiore a 429$ altrimenti avrò ottenuto solo una perdita.
Tra l'altro se guardo i valori delle carte presenti attualmente sul mercato trovo solo poche carte (Regular version) il cui valore supera i 429$.
Nell'immagine seguente puoi vedere le carte di livello 1 che hanno un prezzo di vendita sul mercato superiore a 429$.
Dalle carte dell'immagine sopra conviene escludere le carte che hanno una tiratura molto limitata perchè il loro valore è dato anche dalla scarsità di esemplari presenti.
Se la carta distribuita ai partecipanti dell'airdrop sarà davvero forte e utile in battaglia come ad esempio la carta evocatore Yodin Zaku allora potrebbe essere conveniente comprare 50 pacchi di carte durante la prevendita e spendere 12.58$ per pacco perchè spenderei 429$ per ricevere una carta del valore di mercato di 688$ (livello 1).
Inoltre nel valutare il possibile valore di mercato della carta ricevuta dal primo airdrop bisognerebbe anche considerare che le carte Yodin Zaku in circolazione sono solo 1970.
Le carte promo in edizione limitata saranno almeno 20000 anche se poi l'operazione di combinazione per ottenere carte più forti dovrebbe far scendere questo valore.
Per questo motivo nel caso di un voucher del valore di 10 HIVE la carta promo dovrebbe essere ancora più utile di Yodin Zaku per avere un valore paragonabile.
Conclusione
La mia partecipazione alla prevendita Chaos Legion dipenderà quindi da due elementi importanti da considerare:
- valore di vendita dei token Voucher
- statistiche di battaglia e valore potenziale della carta promo in edizione limitata.
Le risposte alle seguenti domande saranno determinanti per la mia decisione se partecipare alla prevendita oppure no.
Se la carta promo in edizione limitata non sarà annunciata prima della fine della prevendita con molta probabilità non parteciperò alla prevendita perchè non ho le basi per calcolare un possibile profitto stimato e quindi venderò tutti i miei token Voucher e quando la vendita delle carte sarà aperta a tutti cercherò di comprare almeno 1000 pacchi di carte Chaos Legion.
Se il costo dei token Voucher sarà superiore alla metà del costo di un pacco di carte (2$) parteciperò alla prevendita solo se la carta dell'airdrop sarà davvero utile in battaglia altrimenti come nel primo caso venderò tutti i miei token VOUCHER e rinvierò l'acquisto dei pacchi di carte CHAOS LEGION.
Ci sono anche altri elementi da considerare per decidere se comprare o non comprare durante la prevendita:
I pacchi di carte comprati durante la prevendita saranno da subito conteggiati nel calcolo del punteggio dell'airdrop dei token SPS?
Il titolo ricevuto da chi compra 1000 pacchi di carte sarà da subito conteggiato nel calcolo del punteggio dell'airdrop dei token SPS?
Penso che le risposte a queste domande le avremo presto perchè la prevendità dei pacchi di carte Chaos Legion è ormai vicina.
