Eth DeFi......doesn't our precious HiVE have most of these features already longtime?

The title says it all in this one if you ask me. Ethereum has been booming over the last couple of weeks because DeFi (decentralized finance) is the latest new hype in crypto space which is getting everybody all pumped up and ready to put their millions in. But all those things people are sike about, arent't these already long time here in HiVE? But then way cheaper and faster?

You know Coinbase right? They have these nice videos of introducing crypto coins to you with getting a buck here and there along with it. Apart from getting a buck, I find the quality of these videos really good if you want to explain something to a new person who is unfamiliar with blockchain technology. Well this time Kyber was in the picture. I am not super familiar with all of these new coins as well, so I actually watch these movies to maybe learn a thing or two in there.

What to me was the most interesting was that a lot of the features about Kyber (and with that so Ethereum) are also to be found in the HiVe blockchain. But one of the things I hate most about Ethereum is that it is slow (and surely will get slower along the line if it can keep this popularity streak going) and the gas fees are ridiculous at the moment. Well at least they were about a month back, when I needed to pay around $3.50 dollar for opening a cardpack in Gods Unchained. Stupid.
So what was it that is alike?

  • So with Kyber you will be able to use your staked Ethereum to vote for DAO proposals. Hear anything familiar in there? On HiVE we also have a DAO proposal selection for funding of projects. The bigger your stake, the bigger your vote. Also with the witnesses voting, (the witnesses keep the blockchain running and is like your parliament you can vote for who 'run' the country) is the same thing, the bigger your stake....the stronger your vote counts.

  • Kyber makes it possible to use different currencies in a transaction without the use of an exchange. Here the buyer and seller can choose in which currency this can be done. Now here is a bit of a difference I find. We do already see that HiVE is integrated in so many other different chains. For example Splinterlands can be used with TRX and ETH to pay out your DEC. In Rising Star Game you can buy you cards with nearly every coin which is on the HiVE-engine to puchase you cards. I figure these are the same kind of thing, especially with Splinterlands. Buyer and seller get their coins in which currency that they want.

So I am not an expert in all of this, but I just find it funny that these things which are used as promotion are already on HiVE but here they are cheaper and faster. Lets think about that for a second what kind of option this can give us, when others find out about this. Use your mind and do your own research
