"I don't go where the puck has been, I go to where it's going..."
That's apparently a famous quote from all time hockey great Wayne Gretzky. The idea that it strikes with successful entrepreneurs is...Go to where the industry is headed, don't go to where it's been...
Or another way to think about it...Be ready for change and embrace it!
A quick story about how I came to the blockchain....
After being having a business ruined and having to start from scratch, @blainjones and I knew that we had to come up with a better way to send and receive payments for our online products. And because we knew about crypto and the blockchain, this place seemed like the perfect fit.
Everything we started learning about Hive just made sense. On top f having no fees and quick 3 second transactions, the community was alive with development and growth potential.
This was home....
Slowly, we learned more. Built more. Grew more. And almost 5 years later, it's become everything we thought it would be and so much more.
What's funny is that all those years ago we were SCREAMING for people in our industry to learn about this stuff. But we were fought with 'crypto is a scam', 'you guys are crazy', and 'go stub your toe Jongo!!!!'
Safe to say, our vision for embracing and adopting the blockchain in all aspects of our business wasn't a popular choice among a lot of online entrepreneurs. Back then, everything seemed to be a get rich quick scheme in crypto...Bitconnect anyone??
Yet we kept building and here we are....
Nostradamus? Prophets?
Not at all...Just a couple of guys that WENT to where the puck was headed!
Sure it was a tough go. Blain had to learn basically everything about the code behind this stuff and is still learning. I had to figure out account keys for goodness sake lol But seriously, it was a journey. Lots of ups and plenty of downs.
But we, as entrepreneurs, focused on where the puck was going!
Here's the lesson I hope so many people can take from this...
You aren't going to know it all when you join! And there is going to be a sharp learning curve. But if everything is pointing to 'the future' and you believe in your heart of hearts that this technology and community is setting up for something massive....
Jump in and embrace the change!
