Introduction
Some months back, I brought you information about the very first AI beauty pageant organized in partnership with Fanvue. The project is called The World AI Creator Awards (WAICA). The aim of this project was and still is to reward the most AI specialists that would create the most beautiful woman using AI. The idea is drawn from the Miss World contests that is held to honor and reward the most beautiful woman in person.
WAICA is not just about physical beauty of an AI creation. Other things was to be taken into consideration before determining the winners of this competitition. Here is what the organizers said about it when launching it:
The first instalment of the WAICAs is Miss AI - where traditional beauty pageantry is crossing the world of AI creators. Contestants will be judged on their beauty, tech, and clout for the chance to earn the Miss AI crown. source
Meet the 2024 winner - Kenza Layli
The winner of Miss AI 2024 is Kenza Layli. Many creators participated in this very first edition of the event - more than 1000 participants. At the end of the contest, the judges shortlisted the last 10 persons that contested for the top 3 positions. The eventual winner of 1st position is Kenza Layli, an AI featured by a creator from Morroco. You can see the lead image which is her winning entry for the contest. Check it below:
The runner up position was taken up by a creator from France. The name of the AI is Lalina. She won the 2nd position. You can see her winning entry below:
The final position which is the 3rd position was taken up by a creator from Portugal. The name of her AI is Olivia C. You can see the winning entry below.
How judges determined the final winners
Before the contest began some of the attributes that winners were required to have includes consistency of physical appearance. How beautiful the AI creation was and how features remained constant across all the images were considered. Besides just the physical appearance and clothing, judges also checked how the participants would change the world using AI technology. All these put together helped form a perspective of who the eventual winners are.
For the top winning position entered by Meriam Bessa from Morroco, the judges were impressed by the consistent beauty of her entry. The hand and other features of Layli all looked same across her many images. The same was true of her clothing. But even more important was her mission of changing the world through AI. Layli wants to promote a world where children are empowered more and have equal opportunities to pursue their dreams. Layli promised to continue pushing these values through her AI platform.

The prizes
The organizers of Miss AI 2024 reserved a total of $20k for the top 3 winners of this contest. As you can see below in the contest announcement statement on their website:
The top three winning Miss AI contestants will be awarded prizes totalling over $20k, including a $5k cash prize to the winner, plus AI mentorship programmes, PR services and more courtesy of WAICA partner, Fanvue. source
The prizes will go a long way in helping the winners to advance their mission of changing the world through AI. We will continue to follow the projects owned by the winners to see how far they are able to go in advancing their mission.
Miss AI and similar projects are important
The AI industry continues to grow and innovate. AI is finding application in almost every industry and field of human endeavor. Projects like Miss AI is helping to create more awareness for AI and let the world see that AI is useful to us. There are still more potential for AI application to real life problems. The more awareness is created for it, the more people come to realize the solutions that this technology is bringing.
Apart from creating awareness, it is also a way to encourage and reward creators in the industry. AI technology requires significant investment in resources - both time, energy and money. Contests like this will move AI creators to put in their best in everything they create, knowing that the best wins in the industry. Besides, they are rest assured that their creations are appreciated by everyone. Such rewards is a show of appreciation for hard work and it would simply propel them to keep on working harder and creating solutions to worlds problems through AI.
