July Hive PUD and the Power of Three a year on

July PUD .jpg

I can't believe that it's six years ago this month that I registered my account on the legacy iteration of the Hive blockchain. To say it's been quite a ride would be an understatement. Have I learned lessons? Yes, many. One that will live with me forever, particularly after my experience of the last month is the power of this virtual community and how it comes together to support folk in their time of need. Just this month, I have been humbled and privileged to have been embraced by this care. I cannot begin to say both how much it has meant - the emotional and financial support, or how deeply grateful I am. To you all.

Thank you @lizelle and to everyone who reached out and supported this post who sent gifts to my wallet: they will help me to get through this month end and as I move into new and unwelcome chapter in my life.

Power of three

Despite all this, there is reason to celebrate: The first anniversary of the power of three (Silver Blogging Women) which began last July. This month sees all of us celebrate our blockchain birthdays and we all remain as committed to this initiative as a year ago (and in my case, three years ago...).

The beneficiaries of our delegations are selected from accounts that participate in #HivePud, and who Traci identifies with the help of, as she calls him, numbers man @abh12345.

When Traci is about to publish her final results post, she also sends me a list of accounts that meet the basic criteria of age and HP, and then I go through them to see if they meet the additional criteria (see below).

The July Hive Power Up Day is approaching

All that's a very long-winded way of saying that for July, our usual delegations continue. That means 300 HP each to redfish accounts that meet the basic Power Up Day Criteria as well as these additional criteria:

Eligible accounts must also be -

  • be less than 6 months old
  • have at least two qualifying posts since the previous power up day.
Posts that qualify must have 200 words or more and exclude posts for Power Up Day, as well as which are specific to Actifit and gaming.
  • a reputation of less than 61
  • not more than 500 HP in their accounts before they power up - both on the first of the month

As a reminder, the the second criterion is because Hive is a community -

Hive is a social blockchain: it's for socialising, ruminating and just generally hanging out.

And that's not all -

Every account that participates in Power Up Day, and does so regularly, stands a chance of receiving a delegation from @hivebuzz - in addition to a bee badge. Check this out for the full buzz.

Now, back to our contribution:

What happens if no accounts qualify?

Thanks for asking, and yes it does happen - it did last month - and could be a function of the poor performance of crypto, generally, and which has a knock effect on Hive. I don't make decisions on my own, so if, as has happened in the past, there are "slim pickings", the three of us put our heads together, working via Traci who is also with the @ocd and @lovesniper noob curation initiatives. What will also not change, and which began in June is working with @zakludick to identify deserving members of his growing activity group.

The three of us make a joint decision about the accounts that are ultimately supported.

Delegating is not enough (speaking for myself)

Remember that in addition to the delegations, I add these accounts to my fanbase so that they receive a daily 100% upvote (if my voting power is still more than 90%; if it's not, I do try to manually upvote (qualifying) posts.

That's my intention, but as I've mentioned, RL is getting the better of my virtual one at the moment. This is also why I ask @ginabot (she's functioning better - thanks @neander-squirrel) to notify me each time they post. If I have an opportunity, I do pop over and have a gander and, occasionally, either weigh in on whatever the post may be about, and/or reblog it.

Also, @bemier, and @les90 I will be cancelling delegations to you so that I can allocate the HP to three new redfish. So if your wallet suddenly shrinks by 100HP, that's why.

See you on Hive Power Up Day, 1 July 2023

PS Thank you for @doze for that lovely text divider. Do pop over and check out his posts for fabulous free-to-use Hive graphics and animations.

Until next time, be well

If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:

  • re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
  • and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
I blog to the Hive blockchain using a number of decentralised appplications.
  • From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.

  • lastly, graphics are created using partly my own photographs, images available freely available on @hive.blog and Canva.
