Clash Of Streamers | How To Increase Crypto Adoption

While the Mobile Blockchain NFT Play2Earn Game Clash Of Streamers has been released on mobile for a year, there has literally been zero adoption by the actual Crypto Space. This is a breakdown of what is going wrong and how I believe it possibly could be improved...

I have been in crypto for over 5 years now and followed the entire Journey of Splinterlands which went from being a small project with a limited loyal fanbase of Steemit users to becoming one of the more successful (and best) Play2Earn Games. I also followed Clash Of Streamers and the development since the start seeing how it is doing reasonably well on mobile while struggling to get any exposure in Crypto.

Where Clash Of Streamers is Now

The game itself is in a good state with more big updates being worked out that should make it more interesting on the Play2Earn side of things with the Crypto Land. New players almost exclusively come from Facebook Advertisement which right now is somewhat on hold until everything is optimized more to get better returns. The game has a player base for as far as I know of around 100k active users (probably many of those are alt accounts) and there are sub 50k active daily users. New players tend to spend money in the app store while nearly all older players have switched to making purchases using PRPS in the G4G Store which gives a massive Discount since the price of PRPS is trading well below the Value it counts for. (5.6$ worth of PRPS counts for 13$ Purchase in the Game)

The game is fully funded and was made by volunteers and there are very little overhead costs which puts them in a very healthy situation. They can use more funding but at the same time want to keep 100% control of things and don't want to sell part of the company. Everyone indirectly can invest in the game by buying PRPS which based on the sell-wall price pays 4% yearly dividends in the form of DUBI which they provide a buy wall for. At the current PRPS price, the return is around +7.1% yearly.

There are some content creators on Youtube and I also have been covering it since the start on my blog but nobody really has a crypto following and I have never seen the game mentioned anywhere in the actual crypto space aside from a tweet from @polygonStudios which dates back to march.

PRPS & DUBI

PRPS & DUBI are the main crypto coins that are integrated in the game. While a good case can be made that they offer a crazy good Risk/Reward Ratio, the group of actual buyers is rather limited.

Bigger Investors that buy: In order to buy with confidence, you pretty much need to have full trust in Athene and understand how he thinks and goes about things. This group of people is limited to those that are interested in his Real Talk Podcasts and the ones that have extensively played the game and put the time in understanding how the entire crypto integration works.

Smaller Players that buy: Players that do in-game purchases that are also into crypto are also buying PRPS to get a lot more value for their dollar. Since the mobile terms & conditions don't allow any links to purchases outside of the game, not everyone is aware of this.

Potential Buyers on the Sideline: Since the tokenomics are designed around making a sustainable economy along with the fact that is impossible for there to be a speculative bubble around the coins. 95% of retail who buy crypto, like playing the casino hoping for a 100x have no interest whatsoever. Bigger investors are unable to get a share of the actual company and the time it would require them to get to a point where they are confident to buy PRPS is crazy high. The main Dev Athene is also a very controversial person kind of similar to Richard Heart so any research would instantly get them to a hit piece containing a lot of information put out of context.

So if you are Poor, PRPS unlikely will make you rich and if you have a lot of money you can do really well with PRPS but you are required to put 100% trust into Athene as the project is fully centralized an you have to rely just on promises.

People that are Selling: Right now, there are more sellers than buyers given the fact that the price of PRPS on the Liquidity pool is 5.6$. This group likely consists of bigger holders that manage to get in at lower price levels and are now taking profit or need the money. Since the liquidity pool is so low, not much is needed to push the price up or down. On Dubiex there are 25k$ worth of sell orders below 8$. The game right now also allows players the earn and cash out and it is way too free2play friendly to those that know what they are doing. I'm not sure about the actual numbers but most likely there are frequent cashouts from players that aim to make a quick buck on multiple accounts.

So unless you are fully in the loop, PRPS is the last thing anyone would ever buy right now while there is some selling pressure.

Ways For Clash Of Streamers & PRPS To Get Crypto Adoption

I would argue that right now, little to nothing is being done to get any actual crypto adoption and it mostly comes down to frustration on the game not getting any attention in the crypto space. All while complaining about how all other crypto (games) are a scam and how all of the crypto scene is full of paid shills.

1. Improving Website & Social Media
Right now, pretty much all communication goes through the daily streams on Twitch () which fully is aimed toward people that already are playing the game with many already owning PRPS. When going to the site it looks outdated with no news updates and a whitepaper that still states that PRPS is an ERC-20 Token on Ethereum. All Social Media is also very automated. There is also a big disconnect between Clash Of Streamers, the PRPS/DUBI Coins, Gamingforgood Store, and the daily streams which is really confusing to crypto investors that try to look into the project.

2. Tapping into Different Crypto Tribes / Accepting more Crypto Payments.
In the Crypto space, each project kind of has its own community with the ones that are part of this tribe being emotionally attached to the coin they hold and want to see go up in price through adoption. The G4G Sore right now only accepts payments in PRPS or DUBI on the Polygon Chain. To get better crypto adoption allow many different coins on many different chains with the team using those coins to buy PRPS from the market and Burn it. Start by adding Bitcoin and add new coins along the way maybe doing a weekly poll having different crypto communities vote on which one gets implemented next. Each time a new payment option is added communicate it to the different crypto tribes on Twitter / Reddit / their discord / ...

Splinterlands does this in an excellent way where they work with a credit system that players can use to do in-game purchases. 1000 Credits are pegged to 1$ and they can be purchased with all kinds of different crypto coins at the current price they are trading at.

3. Total Supply & Token Burn Reports.

If Anything, crypto investors love token burn mechanics and regular reports on how many tokens have been burned especially if there is a chart showing an increase in burned tokens over time. Binance and their BNB token is a good example of this.

PRPS has a great mechanic where the price of the coin goes up as new PRPS is minted based on the batches and the levels while tokens that get burned increase the sustainability of the entire project. The exact info and numbers on this right now is hard to find. Only prps.moe has some info on it.

4. Coinmarketcap Listing / Exposure

Pretty much all Play2earn Games that have a coin have the name of the game attached to it and they are listed on Coinmarketcap. They also list in the Gaming / Play2Earn category on Coinmarketcap or Coingeicko which makes it easy for people that are into crypto to find them. Clash Of Streamers with PRPS & DUBI is totally disconnected from this giving zero exposure this way in the crypto space. I would say pretty much everyone that is somewhat into crypto and play2earn gaming has heard of a rather unkonwn game/coin like MyNeighborAlice just because of Coinmarketcap. I would say less than 1% of those people know about Clash Of Streamers because it is just completely hidden.

Being listed on sites like Dappradar, Dapp.com, stateofthedapps.com also helps even though CoS likely doesn't qualify as a Decentralized App. I know it is listed on playtoearn.net but it seems outdated as it also shows Ethereum still as the network instead of Polygon.

4. Youtube interviews / Exposure

The entire Crypto Space pretty much takes place on Twitter/Youtube/Coinmarketcap. Yet the first search result when someone looks for Clash Of Streamers on YouTube is the KiraTV hit piece on the game. While I'm sure it will get some people to download the game, it does a lot more bad than good. Nearly everyone I tried telling about the game who quickly looked into it came back with extreme skepticism because videos like that is the first thing they stumbled upon which makes it hard to recommend the game.

While it's likely true that the only way to get on bigger crypto YouTube channels is to pay, there are so many smaller channels that are growing that would be willing to have a closer look into the game especially as the game itself can help them more follower with the community & skins system.

Especially with the userbase & earnings numbers that Clash Of Streamers is able to put up right now combined with the fact that there is a small community to mobilize to potentially spread the word on Twitter replying to posts like @brycent_ or other Play2Earn content creators. Mapping all of these out and trying to connect with them could already do a lot in terms of crypto exposure. Right now I would say either these creators never heard of the game or think it's a scam.

5. Social Media Content Incentives
Something Splinterlands does really well is to give incentives to the community to share Splinterlands content all over Social Media which helps to give the game exposure and with search engine Optimization. The way they do this is by rewarding players with upvotes on the Hive Blockchain which the game runs on with different weekly challenges (Link Social Media Challenge.) Looking at the #ClashofStreamers hashtag on Twitter, the only real activity comes from inside the team. Maybe have some kind of in-game mechanic that directly allows sharing stuff on social media with rewards linked to it for those that do might help to get up the activity.

6. Crypto Fame & Connections
Nearly all of the bigger crypto projects have a main dev that also somewhat is known in the crypto community. Ethereum has Vitalik, Cardano has Charles Hoskinson, Terra Luna has (had) Do Kwon, HEX has Richard Heart, Celsius has Alex Mashinsky, Binance has CZ, FTX has Sam Bankman Fried, Polkadot has Gavin Wood, Litecoin has Charlie Lee, Chainlink has Sergey Nazarov, Splinterlands has Aggroed. Pretty much nobody in the crypto space knows Athene as the main dev of Clash Of Streamers and the only way to get this is to actually start doing some crypto interviews and such.

I know they reached out to some crypto guys like Sam Bankman Fried & Richard Hearth but never got a reply as these people likely get tons of messages while none ever heard of Athene or Clash Of Streamers most likely. Getting connections in the Crypto Space first is vital to open some doors.

7. NFT Generative Profile Picture Collection Integration
Even though I personally am not into them, NFT PFP Projects are a big thing and many people like them. Right now everyone in the game can add their own custom selfies or streamer skins which can be exported as NFTs. I'm sure not everyone is willing to put selfies and the game or take the time to properly add their own images into it. Having Generative Profile Picture NFT skins in the game that can be minted at a certain cost and used as streamer skins might be something many players could be interested in. Another option is to integrate some of the existing profile picture projects in the game with those that own them allowed to use them in their game and for their community.

It's also possible to attach certain benefits to owners of these NFTs or an incentive to collect certain types and such to complete a collection tapping into that aspect. Personally, I think this would be quite nice to have as a feature and it can also act as a fundraizer to push more advertisements.

Conclusion

Both Clash of Streamers and PRPS/DUBI along with the entire dev team feel totally disconnected from the Crypto Space which makes it so that nearly nobody that is in crypto has ever heard of it a year after the release. This has nothing to do with the actual game or the fact that the entire crypto space is full of paid shills and Ponzi schemes while valid projects don't get their place. Instead, it has everything to do with the lack of knowledge of the actual crypto space from the team as they only really focus on regular advertisement. There are so many things that can be done to gradually improve on this even though it will take some time. I'm quite sure things will work out even without having any exposure in the crypto space right now as the game itself connects well with casual mobile gamers which is the biggest target audience in the world. Still it would be nice to see some actual progress on the crypto adoption side. The difference bewteen Splinterlands which has more crypto savy devs and Clash Of Streamers in this regard is Night and Day.
