Yup, happy friday indeed. :( 4 minutes was all it took to LOSE my money today!

But,

despite this little setback, the week was good.. At least the pain was over before I knew it and my stop order DID work just right, even in this lowest I've ever seen VIX environment. Let's take a closer look..

Not the lowest in history, but very very close and looking like it's headed even LOWER! Oh my. Looks like some interesting trading is coming..

I was curious to learn more about the VIX so I did a quick search..

I knew the FEAR INDEX part, but it went on to say this..

I didn't know how it was a LEADING indy.. Anyway, to me it just means the market is in a paranoid, abnormal, JUMPY condition.. and that means it can act strangely at any moment, and I need to watch things closely.

Let me go ahead and show u what I saw this morning..

First off.. I noted the LOW vix..

but like it explained in the invesopedia article, the VIX is a leading indy, so what is going on right now in the market can be different that what it says.. the VIX is dropping, but take a look at how the market behaved in recent past and now..

Here it is on the 15m..

Price looked like it was steadily moving UP.. IT LOOKED THAT WAY..

So, I got in. (should've waited 10 minutes)

Price fell fast and hard right after I entered at a delta 13 strike. Look where it was when I got a snap of it just after my trade filled..

and just 2 minutes later..

Then, not even 1 minute later, DONG! stop city.

Here' what my bad luck trade looked like..

Take at look at what happened RIGHT after I got stopped out..

I never been so unlucky before. Only 10 minutes would've turned this into an easy win. I guess that's the nature of the beast.. the market is like playing with fire.. U can only hope to contain the chaos for a time.. :P

OK, time to take a look at the results..

Here are my trades since my last loss..

  1. th 5/18 2 pcs 110 (the real money reslut)
  2. f 5/1903 pcs 150 260 (this is just my simply running total)
  3. th 5/253 pcs 120 380
  4. f 5/26 3 pcs 120 500
  5. w 5/313 pcs 135 635
  6. f 6/2 3 pcs -160 465

5 wins and this loss.. i'll take it. :)

Using a 2X stop keeps it basically close to a 1 for 1 win:loss ratio, so any loss I suffer just wipes out the previous trade. There are, of course, trade fees and other such fees that make it more of a battle.

My overall trade record so far this year: 42 wins/51 trades taken

Not to shabby if I do say so myself. 😊😉
