While the social media is blasted by influencers, why not to have a classification of them also here on the Hive blockchain? Well, I have taken the initiative to make one and have already published a report for the month of August 2024 . As with any new initiative, things aren't oiled right from the beginning, but through readers feedback I think that the new report for September 2024 will provide tweaked data which should reflect better what an Influencer should be. So, let's see how things were progressed on a monthly basis.
Influencers tiers
On the Hive blockchain, I have envisioned the following influencer tiers:
- Nano-influencers - 100 to 1,000 followers
- Micro-influencers - 1,001 to 5,000 followers
- Mid-tier influencers - 5,001 to 10,000 followers
- Macro-influencers - 10,001 to 50,000 followers
- Mega influencers - 50,001 or more followers
Influencers algorithm updates
Based on the readers feedback, I have updated the range for Nano-influencers in the sense not to start from 0. Now the low level to become a Nano-influencers stands at minimum 100 followers. This probably is not much and I will see if it needs any future tweaking, but in the same time I think it is a good level to leave some place for encouragement to climb up.

Influencers updates
Slow moves of Influencers status when it comes to move from one tier to the other. As expected the lowest level has the more dynamic with +233, while the other tiers simply climbed with +1 on each tier. As people are getting big numbers of followers, as expected is it harder to attract much more from the current user base. There is a sweet spot if we can grow as many Micro-influencers as possible as I think that having between 1,000 and 5,000 followers is quite impressive on this ecosystem.
Approaching the social media from the Hive blockchain through the eyes of Influencers is intended to bring a new case and motivation for people to gather more followers and enrich the public for each of one. This can create more engagement and thus making this ecosystem more valuable. With energy flowing from one account to the other, visibility will increase and more users onboarding. That's my view on boosting the Influencers angle and hopefully this monthly reporting will provide some motivations for some of us to simply want more, and especially more followers.
