Maybe I'm missing some movies at this top, but I'll settle for these, as they are the ones I've enjoyed the most. Their serious combination of categories and well-cast elements have made me appreciate every scene and situation. 2022 was a year of success in most genres of cinema, that's why I pay tribute to this year and the great films that it has left us because it has been an adventure of reflection, thrill, and fun. If you have any other movie you would like to add, I would love to see it in the comments.

Quizás me falten algunas películas en este top, pero me conformo con estas, pues son las que más he disfrutado. Su seria combinación de categorías y elementos bien plasmados, han hecho que gozara de cada escena y situación. El 2022 fue un año de éxitos en la mayoría de los géneros del cine, es por eso, que hago un homenaje a este año y a los grandes filmes que nos ha dejado, pues ha sido una aventura de reflexión, estremecimiento y diversión. Si tienes alguna otra película que quieras agregar, me gustaría verla en los comentarios.
1.- BODIES BODIES BODIES
A hilarious horror comedy with a shocking proposal and twist; that ends up giving you more laughs. I hated the characters, and in this case, it's a good thing; since the idea was to make them as obnoxious as possible.
I found Sarah DeLappe's script to be sublime and intelligent, with a pretty good shrewdness that leaves us all in suspense, and at the same time, gets laughs out of us. Making a horror slasher with teenagers is typical, but in this case, they knew how to bring things to the end originally and effectively.
The movie is about a group of teenagers who get together at the house of one of them to party, suddenly, in the middle of the fun they decide to play a game called 'Bodies Bodies Bodies Bodies', which is that one of them will pretend to be the murderer while the others hide, but things get terrifying when an actual corpse appears, from there, everything starts to get good.
This movie made me laugh, with a good dose of black humor, the kind I like. The performances of the characters were compelling and the plot was more than absurd and intoxicating.
1.- MUERTE MUERTE MUERTE
Una comedia de terror hilarante con una propuesta y un giro impactante; que termina dándote más risa. Odié a los personajes, y en este caso es algo bueno; ya que la idea era que fueran lo más detestables posibles.
El guion elaborado por Sarah DeLappe, me pareció sublime e inteligente, con una sagacidad bastante buena que nos deja a todos en el suspenso, y al mismo tiempo, nos saca risas. Realizar un slasher de terror con adolescentes es lo típico, pero en este caso, supieron llevar las cosas al final de manera original y efectiva.
La película trata sobre un grupo de adolescentes que se reúnen en la casa de uno de ellos a hacer fiesta, de repente, en medio de la diversión deciden jugar un juego llamado ‘Bodies Bodies Bodies’, que consiste en que uno de ellos fingirá ser el asesino mientras los otros se esconden, pero las cosas se ponen terroríficas cuando aparece un cadáver de verdad, a partir de ahí, todo empieza a ponerse bueno.
Esta película si me hizo reír, dotada de buena dosis de humor negro, como el que a mí me gusta. Las interpretaciones de los personajes estuvieron muy convincentes y la trama fue más que absurda y embriagadora.
2.- X
One of the best tributes to slashers I've seen in the past year. 'X' for me has become a cult film for lovers of this genre. Its photography with saturated colors and unforgettable characters for how cold, demented and sordid they are, has left me intrigued for the other films in the saga; like 'Pearl', for example.
Directed by Ti West and released by the film company A24 (the same company that released Bodies, Bodies, Bodies), this one has been a delight of gore, madness, and sex, where the story of both the protagonist and the antagonist are related, giving us an interesting plot, full of lots of blood and silly victims.
I think it was one of the best recommendations I could have been given, and I'm not much of a fan of such things, but on this occasion, I'm very glad I did. Highly recommended and with an actress (Mia Goth), perfect for the role.
2.- X
De los mejores homenajes a los slashers que he visto el año pasado. ‘X’ para mí se ha convertido en una película de culto para los amantes de este género. Su fotografía con colores saturados y personajes inolvidables por lo fríos, dementes y sórdidos que son, me ha dejado intrigado por las demás películas de la saga; como ‘Pearl’, por ejemplo.
Dirigida por Ti West y lanzada por la empresa cinematográfica A24 (La misma que lanzó Bodies, Bodies, Bodies cabe destacar), esta ha sido un deleite de contenido gore, locura y sexo, donde la historia tanto de la protagonista como de la antagonista se relacionan, dándonos una trama interesante, llena de mucha sangre y victimas tontas.
Creo que ha sido una de las mejores recomendaciones que han podido darme, y no soy mucho de hacer caso a esas cosas, pero en esta ocasión, me alegra mucho haberlo hecho. Muy recomendada y con una actriz (Mia Goth), perfecta para el papel.
3.- THE NORTHMAN
It took me a long time to see this film, if I waited a little longer, it might have been a year. The work of director Robert Eggers has always seemed good to me since I first saw 'The VVitch', another very dark film loaded with harrowing images with music that makes your heart race.
As with 'The VVitch' and 'Lighthouse', the director employs that iconic technique of leaving us glued to the screen, eyes wide open, and watching every detail as it happens. The film is set in Scandinavian Europe, during the spread of Christianity. A man, seeking revenge on his uncle for taking his father's life and taking away his right to the throne, must now face the dangers of the truth until he achieves his goal.
Revenge stories are one of my favorites; especially if you add that different, original, and special touch. The photography, the plot, and the series of scenarios that show the compartments of madness, blood, and barbarity within the story, seemed to me something so extraordinary that I had to punish myself for not having seen this film full of insanity before.
3.- EL HOMBRE DEL NORTE
Tardé mucho para ver esta película, si esperaba un poco más, quizás hubiera pasado un año. El trabajo del director Robert Eggers, siempre me ha parecido bueno desde que vi por primera vez ‘The VVitch, otra película muy oscura cargada de imágenes estremecedoras con una música que acelera tu corazón.
Al igual que en ‘The VVitch’ y ‘Lighthouse’, el director emplea esa técnica tan icónica de dejarnos pegados a la pantalla, con los ojos bien abiertos y pendientes de cada detalle que sucede. La película está ambientada en la Europa Escandinava, durante la expansión del cristianismo. Un hombre, busca venganza de su tío por haberle arrebatado la vida a su padre y quitarle el derecho al trono, ahora deberá enfrentar los peligros de la verdad hasta cumplir con su objetivo.
Las historias de venganza son de mis preferidas; especialmente si se les agrega ese toque diferente, original y especial. La fotografía, la trama y la serie de escenarios que muestran los compartimentos de la locura, la sangre y la barbaridad dentro de la historia, me parecieron algo tan extraordinario que tuve que castigarme por no haber visto antes esta película llena de demencia.
4.- MEN
Directed by the creator of 'Ex Machina'; Alex Garland, here we have a rare piece with a background that invites multiple interpretations. It is not the best work of this director, but it seems to me that it is well-developed; its message is given to understand and ends up making us reflect based on what we have seen.
The story is about a woman named 'Harper', who after suffering a terrible trauma, decides to heal by moving away from the city and taking a break in the countryside. The place is beautiful, but, she soon realizes, that the men of the town have very strange behavior.
Many qualify this film as 'feminist' others interpret it as 'sexist', but for me, it is a well-structured allegory that teaches us that the only monster is guilt. It's a very strange film, just the way I like them, with frames that show disturbing images, which, although they may not be that strong, I think it's not important; for the story leaves you spellbound.
It is intriguing and I think more people should get to know the film, it also lends itself a lot to debate and that also fascinates me.
4.- HOMBRE
Dirigida por el creador de ‘Ex Machina’; Alex Garland, aquí tenemos una pieza rara con un trasfondo que invita a la múltiple interpretación. No es la mejor obra de este director, pero me parece que está bien desarrollada; su mensaje se da a entender y termina por hacernos reflexionar en base a lo que hemos visto.
La historia trata sobre una mujer llamada ‘Harper’, que después haber sufrido un terrible trauma, decide sanar alejándose de la ciudad y tomar un respiro en el campo. El lugar es hermoso, pero, pronto se da cuenta, que los hombres del pueblo tienen un comportamiento muy extraño.
Muchos califican esta película como ‘feminista’ otros la interpretan como ‘machista’, pero para mí, es una alegoría bien estructurada que nos enseña que el único monstruo es la culpa. Es un filme muy extraño, tal y como a mí me gustan, con cuadros que muestran imágenes perturbadoras, que, aunque puede que no sean tan fuertes, pienso que no es importante; pues la historia te deja embelesado.
Es intrigante y pienso que más personas deberían conocer una película, también se presta mucho para el debate y eso también me fascina.
5.- PEARL
Now we will talk about the prequel to 'X', where we will have our psychopathic sex maniac protagonist, but at a time when she was much younger. What I liked the most was Mia Goth's performance, to bring Pearl to life; which was created by both her director, Ti West, and her.
I loved the combination of madness and obsession that was brewing within the plot, as the main character was the element that elevated your interest very far. The impressive acting, the expressions of feelings, the path to dementia; everything goes in a shocking crescendo hand in hand with a well-constructed character.
Here who matters is Pearl, a farm girl who lives with her parents and dreams of being a star, but the obstacles to achieving her goal cause Pearl to unleash her true self; becoming a being manipulated by madness, sleaze, psychopathic and ruthless.
Truly, 'Pearl' is one of my favorite characters in the world of slashers; for all those elements that have been added, with a very well-done script that takes us into the disturbed mind of the protagonist and an iconic ending.
5.- PEARL
Ahora hablaremos de la precuela de ‘X’, donde tendremos a nuestra psicópata protagonista maniática sexual, pero en una época donde fue mucho más joven. Lo que más me gustó fue la interpretación de Mia Goth, para darle vida a Pearl; el cual fue creado tanto por su director, Ti West, como por ella.
Me encantó la combinación de locura y obsesión que se iba gestando dentro de la trama, pues el personaje principal era el elemento que elevaba tu interés muy lejos. La impresionante actuación, las expresiones de sentimientos, el camino a la demencia; todo va en impactante crescendo de la mano de un personaje bien construido.
Aquí quien importa es Pearl, una chica de granja que vive con sus padres y que sueña con ser una estrella, pero los obstáculos para lograr su objetivo hacen que Pearl libere su verdadero yo; convirtiéndose en un ser manipulado por la locura, sórdido, psicópata y despiadado.
De verdad que ‘Pearl’ es uno de mis personajes favoritos del mundo de los slashers; por todos esos elementos que le han agregado, con un guion muy bien hecho que nos adentra en la mente perturbada de la protagonista y un final icónico.
6.- GUILLERMO DEL TORO'S PINOCCHIO
Many of us grew up watching the animated Pinocchio movie from the 1940s, and since then, there have been different versions and sequels of Carlo Collodi's original work, but this version by Guillermo del Toro, has moved me; not only for its unique style but for the messages it expresses.
Set in Mussolini's fascist Italy, during World War II, Pinocchio; a wooden boy is favored with the gift of life to bring joy to a poor carpenter. He is a very active, curious, and charming child, but he must learn quickly about life and how to live it.
The art and the cast that give voice to this series of stop-motion animated characters were what caught my attention the most; among the highlights, we have Ewan McGregor, Ron Perlman, Tilda Swinton, Cate Blanchett, and Christoph Waltz. Del Toro's style always seemed charming to me; that way of expressing fantasy, with intriguing symbologies and particular aesthetics.
The truth is that I liked this version of the story better, I haven't seen the Disney remake with Tom Hanks, which was released first last year, but I don't need to because of its bad reviews. I hope Guillermo del Toro does very well at the Golden Globes.
6.- PINOCHO DE GUILLERMO DEL TORO
Muchos de nosotros crecimos viendo la película animada de Pinocchio de los años 40, y desde entonces, han aparecido diferentes versiones y secuelas de la obra original de Carlo Collodi, pero esta versión de Guillermo del Toro, de verdad que me ha conmovido; no solo por su estilo único, sino por los mensajes que expresa.
Ambientada en la Italia fascista de Mussolini, durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, Pinocchio; un niño de madera, es favorecido con el don de la vida para darle alegría a un pobre carpintero. Es un niño muy entusiasta, curioso y encantador, pero deberá aprender rápido sobre lo que es la vida y como vivirla.
El arte y el elenco que otorgan la voz a esta serie de personajes animados en Stop-motion, fue lo que más me llamó la atención; entre los más destacados tenemos a Ewan McGregor, Ron Perlman, Tilda Swinton, Cate Blanchett y Christoph Waltz. El estilo de Del Toro siempre me pareció encantador; esa manera de expresar la fantasía, con simbologías intrigantes y estética particular.
La verdad es que esta versión de la historia me gustó más, no he visto el remake de Disney con Tom Hanks, la cual se estrenó primero el año pasado, pero no hace falta por sus malas críticas. Espero que a Guillermo del Toro le vaya muy bien en los Globos de Oro.
Conclusions
I have analyzed this top a lot, and I can say, I have been satisfied, but I feel that I have a lot more to see because I know that there is a world of moving movies that came out last year. Some of them I have on the list and haven't bothered to look for them yet, but, anyway, I know I will see them someday.
Of all the ones I saw last year, these were the ones that moved me the most, their stories, their art, their style, their scripts, and their acting performances, placed an indelible mark on me that will be hard to remove. I'm on the lookout for more films and recommendations, so I'm open to suggestions. If you haven't seen any of these films, I highly recommend them and hope you enjoy them.
Conclusiones
He analizado mucho este top, y puedo decir, que he quedado satisfecho, pero siento que me falta mucho más por ver, porque sé que hay un mundo de películas conmovedoras que salieron el año pasado. Algunas las tengo en la lista y todavía no me he molestado en buscarlas, pero, en fin, sé que algún día las veré.
De todas las que vi el año pasado estas fueron las que más me conmovieron, sus historias, su arte, su estilo, sus guiones, sus interpretaciones actorales, colocaron en mí una marca imborrable que será difícil de sacar. Estoy en la búsqueda de más filmes y recomendaciones, así que estoy abierto a recibir sugerencias. Si no han visto alguna de estas películas, se las recomiendo mucho y espero que puedan disfrutarlas.
