Creo que hice uno de mis mejores descubrimientos en mucho tiempo, todo por querer ver una típica película slasher, vi la película y pensé que sería lo de siempre, el típico asesino persiguiendo y matando gente durante Halloween, con los típicos clichés de que el asesino es una máquina de matar indestructible y que al final siempre sobrevive la chica pero vaya que estaba equivocado, se supone que en la descripción de la película técnicamente mencionan el punto en específico que me sorprendió pero como yo la leí por la mitad no estaba al tanto de ello. Un slasher con viajes en el tiempo, creo que las posibilidades son infinitas, el concepto en cierta forma me recordó al anime llamado Erased (la trama es demasiado similar si me preguntas) y a otra película llamada Happy Death Day (la protagonista está encerrada en un bucle donde la persigue un asesino), aunque acá como tal sí tenemos una máquina del tiempo, lo que hace recordar entonces a clásicos como Back to the Future y el tipo de asesino te recuerda a Scream (en la película hacen mención de ambas así que la inspiración es adrede). Una mezcla muy curiosa que sinceramente resulta muy interesante y atrapante debido a la propuesta que quiere plantear, ciencia ficción con horror. La película en cuestión se llama Totally Killer, así que hablemos un poco más de ella.
I think I made one of my best discoveries in a long time, all because I wanted to see a typical slasher movie, I saw the movie and thought it would be the same old thing, the typical killer chasing and killing people during Halloween, with the typical clichés that the killer is an indestructible killing machine and that at the end the girl always survives but boy was I wrong, they are supposed to mention the specific point that surprised me in the movie description but as I read it halfway I was not aware of it. A slasher with time travel, I think the possibilities are endless, the concept in a way reminded me of the anime called Erased (the plot is too similar if you ask me) and another movie called Happy Death Day (the protagonist is trapped in a loop where a killer pursues her), although here we do have a time machine, which then makes you think of classics like Back to the Future and the type of killer reminds you of Scream (the movie mentions both so the inspiration is on purpose). A very curious mix that is actually very interesting and captivating due to the proposal it wants to make, science fiction with horror. The movie in question is called Totally Killer, so let's talk a little more about it.

35 años han pasado desde el último asesinato del asesino de los dulces dieciséis, quién se le conoce en la pequeña pueblo por acabar con sus víctimas dándoles 16 puñaladas, sus tres víctimas fueron las amigas de la mamá de nuestra protagonista Jamie durante su etapa de preparatoria, por lo que ahora regresará para completar su trabajo. Jamie al verse atacada por el asesino, se adentrará en una máquina del tiempo fabricada por su mejor amiga que aparentemente no funcionaba y de alguna u otra forma terminará en los años 80, tiempo antes de que los asesinatos hayan sido cometidos, por lo que se encargará de descubrir quien es el asesino, salvar a su mamá y a sus amigas. Obviamente para cumplir su objetivo necesitará ayuda de su propia madre y sus no tan inteligentes amigos, además de la mamá de su mejor amiga, quien debe reparar la máquina del tiempo para que Jamie pueda volver a su época una vez atrapado el asesino. Lo interesante más que nada es ver las interacciones de Jamie con el entorno de los ochenta y cómo se lleva con su madre y padre de dicha época, además de intentar adivinar quién es el asesino, cosa que se hacía usualmente con las películas de Scream según los acontecimientos, pistas y cómo transcurría la trama.
35 years have passed since the last murder of the sixteen sweet killer, who is known in the small town for finishing off his victims by giving them 16 stabs, his three victims were the friends of the protagonist Jamie's mother during her high school years, so now he will return to complete his work. Jamie, seeing herself attacked by the killer, will enter a time machine built by her best friend that apparently did not work and somehow she will end up in the 80s, time before the murders were committed, so she will be in charge of discovering who the killer is, saving her mother and her friends. Obviously, to fulfill her goal, she will need help from her own mother and her not-so-intelligent friends, as well as the mother of her best friend, who must repair the time machine so that Jamie can return to her time once the killer is caught. The interesting thing is to see Jamie's interactions with the environment of the eighties and how she gets along with her mother and father of that time, in addition to trying to guess who the killer is, something that was usually done with the Scream movies according to the events, clues and how the plot unfolded.

Lo interesante de la obra es que es simplemente surrealista, yo siempre me cuestiono la lógica de los viajes en el tiempo pero acá no es necesario, que una adolescente pueda crear una máquina del tiempo no tiene sentido alguno, tanto es así que juegan con rebatir las reglas de los viajes en el tiempo de Back to the Future con más reglas sin sentido que aceptas sin más porque encajan buenamente en la historia. La película no se enfoca nada más en el horror, tenemos diversos momentos llenos de humor, ver interactuar a alguien de la Generación Z con el entorno de los ochenta es muy divertido, cosas que nos parecen normales en anteriores épocas definitivamente no lo eran, hasta llevan a este punto fuera del humor, por ejemplo en un punto de la historia se obtiene el ADN del asesino pero como no existe la forma de analizar eso lo toman como una broma o un chiste. Quizás el punto que debieron cuidar más un poco es el desarollo de algunos personajes los cuales por el poco tiempo que tienen en pantalla quedan en el olvido y quedamos con más incógnitas que con respuestas, además de que pudieron haber dado un poco más de pistas para que nosotros mismos pudiésemos adivinar quién es el asesino, aunque puede que no quisiesen enfocarse en eso y por eso la hicieron de la forma en que la hicieron.
The interesting thing about the work is that it is simply surrealistic, I always question the logic of time travel but here it is not necessary, that a teenager can create a time machine makes no sense at all, so much so that they play with rebutting the rules of time travel from Back to the Future with more senseless rules that you accept without more because they fit well into the story. The movie is not focused solely on horror, we have various moments full of humor, seeing someone from Generation Z interact with the environment of the eighties is very funny, things that seem normal to us in previous times definitely were not, they even take this point out of humor, for example at one point in the story the murderer's DNA is obtained but since there is no way to analyze that, they take it as a joke or a joke. Perhaps the point that they should have taken better care of a little is the development of some characters which, due to the little time they have on screen, are forgotten and we are left with more questions than answers, in addition to that they could have given us a little more clues so that we could guess who the murderer is, although they may not have wanted to focus on that and that's why they did it the way they did it.

Lo único verdaderamente reprochable de la cinta es en algunos efectos especiales, relacionados con los viajes en el tiempo, los demás están muy bien, los asesinatos y la sangre que estos desprenden están bien conseguidos y más teniendo en cuenta aún los sangrientos que son, habiendo degollaciones y puñaladas en la cabeza, aunque lo que más prevalece son las luchas cuerpo a cuerpo y las 16 puñaladas características de este asesino en serie. Aunque lo que me encanta más es que esta película en específico sabe diferenciarse de las demás, llegando a crear su propia identidad, no sientes que estás viendo los mismos slashers de siempre, estamos ante algo nuevo que no se había visto, obviamente usando recursos que ya habían sido escritos pero dándoles un nuevo rumbo. La atmósfera de los ochenta está muy bien recreada, se siente ese amor y se ve trasladado a la ambientación, obviamente esto afectando a los personajes que se encuentran en dicho ambiente, adecuándose a las actitudes de la época. Quiero creer de sobremanera que está película fue ideada para rendir homenaje a Back to the Future y a Scream porque lo hace de forma espléndida. Quizás no se vuelva una película de culto o algo por el estilo pero es entretenida de principio a fin, fácilmente recomendable para todo el mundo, hasta para las personas asustadizas, no han screamers por ningún lado y lo que veremos más es sangre.
The only truly reproachable thing about the movie is in some of the special effects, related to time travel, the others are very well done, the murders and the blood they shed are well achieved and even more considering how bloody they are, with decapitations and stabs to the head, although what prevails the most are the hand-to-hand fights and the 16 characteristic stabs of this serial killer. Although what I love the most is that this movie in particular knows how to differentiate itself from the others, managing to create its own identity, you don't feel like you're watching the same slashers over and over again, we are facing something new that had not been seen before, obviously using resources that had already been written but giving them a new direction. The atmosphere of the eighties is very well recreated, that love is felt and it is transferred to the setting, obviously affecting the characters who are in that environment, adapting to the attitudes of the time. I really want to believe that this movie was designed to pay tribute to Back to the Future and Scream because it does so splendidly. Perhaps it will not become a cult movie or something like that but it is entertaining from beginning to end, easily recommendable for everyone, even for the faint-hearted, there are no screamers anywhere and what we will see more is blood.
