Undoubtedly, we are very accustomed to the big productions of cinema and TV, and many times we overlook that free site called YouTube. Where, among a lot of content sometimes of dubious quality, we find visual gems that are at least entertaining.
This is the case of the proposal I bring to you: a short film called "Other Side of The Box". It is on the ALTER channel on YouTube and has around 17 million views. It was written and directed by the user Mr. Phillips. Without scares or surprises with loud noises, the short evokes an atmosphere that goes from cozy to charged and sinister. Leaving us waiting for an outcome and playing with possibilities, it plays with mystery and the unknown.
Ben and Rachel, on a common night while preparing their dinner, hear a knock on the door and, to their surprise, it is Shaun, Rachel's ex-boyfriend and Ben's acquaintance. After letting him in, he hands Ben a mysterious box with a note, asking him not to read the note until he opens the box. When Ben opens the box, he is confused to notice that the box seems to have no bottom, a moment Shaun takes advantage of to leave. Rachel, unaware of the situation, takes the note and begins to read it. The note only explained that they could not take their eyes off the box to stay safe. When they turn to look at the box, they see a horrible human figure staring at them. Now they are condemned to look at the box without knowing what will happen if they stop looking.

No famous actors, no ridiculously prepared sets, everything is common and familiar. The simplicity, along with a very good choice of soundtrack, makes it a hidden gem. It gives us one of the best lines I've heard in recent horror movies: "No Ben, I gave it to you." Undoubtedly, another proof that true horror is not found in jumping at an unexpected scare with bloody images, but in the harrowing silence and the unknown.

Sin dudas, estamos muy acostumbrados a las grandes producciones de cine y TV, y muchas veces pasamos por alto ese sitio gratis que se llama YouTube. Donde, entre mucho contenido a veces de dudosa calidad, encontramos joyas visuales cuanto menos entretenidas.
Este es el caso de la propuesta que les traigo a continuación: un corto llamado "Other Side of The Box". Se encuentra en el canal ALTER de YouTube y tiene alrededor de 17 millones de visitas. Fue escrito y dirigido por el usuario Mr. Phillips. Sin sustos o sorpresas con ruidos fuertes, el corto evoca una atmósfera que pasa de acogedora a cargada y siniestra. Dejándonos a la espera de un desenlace y jugando con las posibilidades, juega con el misterio y lo desconocido.

La simpleza, junto a una muy buena elección de banda sonora, lo convierten en una pequeña joya oculta. Señalar que nos da una de las mejores líneas que he escuchado en las películas de terror recientes: "No Ben, te la di a ti". Sin dudas, otra prueba más de que el verdadero terror no se encuentra en saltar por un susto desprevenidos con imágenes sangrientas, sino en lo desgarrador del silencio y lo desconocido.
