Lee Daniels famous for his social dramas is going deep dive into the world of horror with his new picture, this movie is based on the story around the experience of a single mother struggling to save her children from both the devil and its demons, it is a story based on real events, it looks to be an interesting movie that combines family drama and elements of horror, considering it has a lot of popularity and increasing on sites like IMDB. The film has a powerful ensemble cast of Andra Day, Glenn Close and Mo Nique which increases the expectation from the movie. This movie is scheduled to be released in theaters before coming to the streaming service, it has already drawn the interest of horror enthusiasts and reviewers online. Due to its incorporation of true story components with horror elements, it is assumed that the film will bring novelty to the subject of possession. The Story Behind the Scares
The movie centers on Ebony Jackson portrayed by Andra Day who is a single mother who decides to move her family to a new home in Pennsylvania. The beginning of the movie presents a new start in life but it soon descends to horror as weird incidents begin to unfold in the house, the film is based on a true story of Latoya Ammons and her family from Indiana who said they were possessed by demons in 2011.As any other adaptation movie it has to distorts some of the facts but does not lose the main idea of the Ammons case based on the description of the film. In the real case there were allegations of children flying, noises and even physical assaults from the spirits, these events were also supported by local authorities and medical persons that made supernatural stories more believable. The film builds up the themes of faith, family and fight against evil forces which are not seen by the human eye.
Cast Brings the Story to Life
The cast of the film is hard to ignore with Andra Day at the head of it, who starred in the film “The United States vs. Billie Holiday” and won the Golden Globe, in which she plays the role of Ebony Jackson, a mother who is struggling to safe the souls of her children who will probably be the main output of feelings, tears and drama seen her own children fade away by demons. Glenn Close has been cast as the role of Alberta, Ebony’s mother, I have to mention it is always a pleasure to watch how she still relevant and such a good actress, with her most renounce work from 1987 Fatal Attraction. There is Mo Nique who will be working with Lee Daniels once again, they worked together on “Precious”, Mo Nique will be playing a social worker that is going to assist the family during this terrifying expirience. The cast features a number of young actors, some of whom have already made a name for themselves, such as Finn Wolfhard and Caleb McLaughlin from ‘Stranger Things’. Behind the camera we have Lee Daniels who has a history of making tough social dramas and now turns to horror. If there is one thing that Daniels has always been good at, it is in getting great performances and telling compelling stories and this should make this movie better than your average horror movie, Daniels made this film become a reality with David Coggeshall and Elijah Bynum on the script which should give the film different voices. The movie was filmed in Pittsburgh which was used to represent Pennsylvania where the events of the story take place, and the filming was completed in September 2022.

This film is slowly becoming an intense portrayal of faith and family battling the forces of the dark side. The core of the film is the challenge of faith, the description of the suffering of the victims of the random acts of cruelty. Ebony, the protagonist fights not only the supernatural but also her own fears and the fears of the society, the theme of faith under fire becomes a major element of the plot. The movie bases the horror on reality which makes it possible to touch a fundamental fear, meaning that such things can happen to anyone, which will only increase the effect and make it long lasting. The film also looks at the strength and the bond of a family going through a very difficult situation and the supernatural aspect increase the tension. Although the specifics about the special effects are still scarce, the participation of talented people in the production is a good indication that the supernatural elements can be realistic. Cinematography and sound are set to be used in creating the right atmosphere for this horror story to make sure that both the direct and indirect threats will be effective in a way that will scare the audience.
