Deadpool & Wolverine: Going to break records?

"Deadpool & Wolverine" movie seems poised to become the blockbuster hit that the struggling Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) desperately needs. After a series of expensive failures both in theaters and on streaming platforms, Kevin Feige and Disney have turned to a film designed to appeal to a broad audience, and it appears their safe bet is going to pay off handsomely.

This movie is packed with fan service and various gimmicks aimed at attracting different types of viewers. Fans of Ryan Reynolds' comedic style will get plenty of it here, and those who crave R-rated superhero movies will find that this film goes all out to earn its rating. The biggest draw, however, is likely the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, a role for which he was likely paid a hefty sum. But this is just one example of how the movie caters to fans' desires.

While I understand why people are excited about these aspects, they don’t particularly appeal to me. Reynolds’ humor can be overwhelming, and a little of it is enough for me. I’ve never rooted for a film to have a specific rating; it should simply fit the story. However, many fans have embraced the Deadpool series largely because of its R rating. As for Wolverine, Jackman’s character had a perfect send-off in 2017’s "Logan." But now, the MCU has used the multiverse as a convenient, though somewhat cheap, way to bring him back—mainly to sell more tickets.
