The Marksman o El Protector, es una película dirigida por el americano Robert Lorenz (quien colaboró con Clint Eastwood para American Sniper en el 2014) y estrenada en enero del 2021. En este film Liam Neesom, actor con un currículo increíble, interpreta a Jim Hanson, un marine retirado que vive en un rancho en la frontrera entre México y Estados Unidos. Las deudas y el dolor de la pérdida de una persona cercana lo hacen una persona solitaria cuya única compañía es su perro, pero su vida dará un giro inesperado.
The Marksman or El Protector, is a film directed by the american Robert Lorenz (who collaborated with Clint Eastwood for American Sniper in 2014) and released in January 2021. In this film Liam Neesom, an actor with an incredible curriculum, plays Jim Hanson, a retired Marine who lives on a ranch on the frontier between Mexico and the United States. Debts and the pain of the loss of a close person make him a lonely person whose only company is his dog, but his life will take an unexpected turn.

Un día cualquiera para Jim, buscando la manera de obtener dinero para no perder su rancho, observa a dos extraños queriendo cruzar la cerca que divide a los dos países, una mujer y un niño. De aquí en adelante, la vida de Jim dio un giro de 180 grados y su tranquilidad se vería irrumpida por estos extraños.
On a normal day for Jim, looking for a way to get money so he does not lose his house, he observes two strangers wanting to cross the fence that divides the two countries, a woman and a child. From now on, Jim's life took a 180 degree turn and his peace of mind would be disrupted by these strangers.

🗣 Opiniones/Opinions 🗣
Ok, ahora entramos a lo sencillo del post: sin pena diré que la película es mala, sinceramente. Si bien tiene unas muy buenas tomas, lo cual le hace honor a algunos paisajes desérticos pero atractivos de la frontera entre USA y México, no es suficiente como para salvar a la película de una mala crítica. La historia se la pueden imaginar leyendo cualquier sinopsis en internet que tenga cierto contenido spoiler, porque tiene cero innovación. Más de lo mismo en un género que a pasos agigantados se está volviendo monótono y aburrido.
Ok, now we get to the simplicity of the post: without regret I will say that the movie is bad, honestly. While it does have some very good shots, which does honor to some attractive but desert landscapes on the US-Mexico border, it is not enough to save the film from a bad review. You can imagine the story by reading any synopsis on the internet that has some spoiler content, because it has zero innovation. More of the same in a genre that is becoming monotonous and boring by leaps and bounds.

El género de la película es acción, y yo me pregunto ¿acción dónde?. La película son 107 minutos de nada. No hay ni una pelea, persecución, rivalidad o salto entretenida. Creo que no hubo suficiente presupuesto para contratar más personal y hacer peleas cuerpo a cuerpo, gastar más balas o al menos explosiones gigantescas. Neesom ya se ve viejito, no tiene el mismo vigor que tuvo en la trilogía Búsqueda Implacable o cualquier otra película suya donde derrochaba un físico y resistencia digna de una película de acción con peleas de puño muy buenas.
The genre of the film is action, and I wonder, where's the action? The movie is 107 minutes of nothing. There is not a single fight, chase, rivalry or entertaining jump. I think there was not enough budget to hire more personnel and do hand-to-hand fights, spend more bullets or at least gigantic explosions. Neesom already looks old, he does not have the same vigor that he had in the trilogy Taken or any other movie of his where he hsd a physique and resistance worthy of an action movie with very good fist fights.

En resumen de mi opinión personal: la película en general es mala. No vale la pena verla, no es entretenida y sentirás que perdiste tu tiempo. Si no tienes más nada que ver, bueno, no queda de otra; pero si tienes opciones, pasa esta y todo estará bien. Sin más que decir o algo que hablar a favor de esta película, vamos directo con la puntuación.
In summary of my personal opinion: the film in general is bad. It is not worth watching, it is not entertaining and you will feel like you wasted your time. If you have nothing else to do with it, well, there is no other choice; But if you have options, pass this one and everything will be fine. Without more to say or something to say in favor of this film, we go straight with the score.
