Bird box - Don't Open Your Eyes!

Good evening, dear Hivers ๐ŸŒƒ

I hope you had a great Saturday.

The day is about to end and I would like to close today's posts with another movie I watched last week.

Bird Box

  • Directed by Susanne Bier
  • Produced by Dylan Clark, Chris Morgan, and Clayton Townsend
  • Based on Bird Box by Josh Malerman
  • Genre: Thriller - Science Fiction - Post Apocalyptic fiction

The film follows a woman, played by Sandra Bullock, as she tries to protect herself and two children from malevolent supernatural entities that make people who look at them go insane and kill themselves. Wikipedia

The film begins with a kind of monologue made by Sandra Bullock that makes you pay attention to every word she says and makes you feel part of the scene. They can't look or remove the blindfold for any reason, this message is more than clear, and there begins the suspense.

Why can't they take off the blindfold? These kids must be her children, I thought.

After this, the film starts to develop where we see that Sandra is an artist who tries to find herself far from everyday life and family or personal relationships. A song is played at high volume while the camera focuses on Sandra painting a picture and receiving a visit from her sister in her apartment.

They talk about Sandra's pregnancy, her parents, and the recent news about a virus or something that has begun to affect humanity. They plan to attend a prenatal consultation together that same day despite the threat of the mysterious thing since there were no registered cases in the country according to what they know.

Even though the theme of viruses wiping out humanity has become a trend, this movie managed to completely keep me focused on everything that was going on in it. What seems to be affecting humanity is a kind of demonic entity or monster that is not possible to see at any time clearly throughout the film. This makes it a different and interesting movie to watch. The choice of cold tones in most of its frames also makes the atmosphere of mystery and suspense an easy thing to maintain.

Although the reviews about the film are sometimes not the best, this year it has been announced that a sequel is already being worked on. In general terms, it is a film that I did enjoy watching, but I am not sure I want to know what happened next. It seems to me that it had a fair and necessary ending, but this is just a personal opinion.
