Una película que tarde mucho en ver porque no me llamaba la atención, verán, para mí, era ya suficiente con la trilogía de Toy Story, por ende también tarde tiempo en veme la 4, pero ya de eso se habla después. Lightyear sería el regreso al cine de Disney y sería el primer spin-off de la franquicia. Tenía todo para ser una gran película. Sin embargo, siento que su potencial fue desperdiciado.
A movie that took me a long time to see because it didn't catch my attention, you see, for me, the Toy Story trilogy was enough, so it took me a long time to see the 4th one, but we will talk about that later. Lightyear would be Disney's return to the movies and it would be the first spin-off of the franchise. It had everything to be a great movie. However, I feel its potential was wasted.

Lo primero que nos preguntamos es que tan progresiva es la película, por si, muchísimas personas le prestaron más atención a un beso lésbico que a la película como tal. Es cierto que no es la primera pareja homosexual que hay en una película de Disney, pero si es primera vez que se muestra al detalle, tienen más tiempo en pantalla y uno de los personajes, es importante para la trama de la película. El beso en concreto, fue razón para prohibir la película en varios países, entre ellos China que es uno de los mercados más importantes de Disney, lo que se traduce a una gran pérdida de dinero.
The first thing we wonder is how progressive the movie is, in case, many, many people paid more attention to a lesbian kiss than to the movie as such. It is true that it is not the first homosexual couple in a Disney movie, but it is the first time it is shown in detail, they have more screen time and one of the characters is important for the plot of the movie. The kiss in particular, was reason to ban the film in several countries, including China which is one of Disney's most important markets, which translates to a big loss of money.

En fin, ¿La inclusión que podemos ver en la película es forzada? Opino que no, solo es una representación, eso sí, es doble moral, porque se ha sabido que Disney elimina o limita escenas o personajes LGBT, todo por la ley Don’t Say Gay en Florida que aparentemente Disney está de acuerdo, aunque promueva lo contrario.

Aun así, considero que es esta ocasión, es representación, que, puede que con lo que diga antes, muchos consideren que es forzada. Sin embargo, debemos admitir que esto no arruina la película. Lo que sí me parece un poco forzado, es que Buzz sea el típico hombre un poco machista que necesita ser deconstruido gracias a una mujer para poder vencer el villano. Eso sí, creo que es la película que contribuye más a la aceptación.
Even so, I consider that in this occasion, it is representation, which, with what I said before, many may consider that it is forced. However, we must admit that this does not ruin the movie. What I do find a bit forced, is that Buzz is the typical macho man who needs to be deconstructed thanks to a woman in order to defeat the villain. Mind you, I think this is the film that contributes the most to acceptance.

Para saber que está mal en esta película hay que preguntarnos si era necesaria y la respuesta es no, es obvio que el plan era capitalizar con el nombre de Toy Story, el problema es que, ya es demasiado, es como en Toy Story 4, está bien, pero no como una continuación porque arruina el final de Toy Story 3.

Otros de los problemas, es que no estamos antes el mismo Buzz, lo cual tiene sentido, porque Lightyear es una película que vio Andy y que tuvo Merchandising, pero el Buzz de esta película aunque si parezca idéntico al Buzz juguete, hay muchos cambios y eso se debe a que es el Buzz de Chris Evans y todos esperábamos a Buzz de Tim Allen que fue el encargado de darle la voz al personaje desde la primera película. Aunque Disney se encargó de resolver este problema, a mí me sigue dando conflicto por no ser la misma voz, peor bueno.

Además de eso, tenemos la falla argumental respecto a Emperador Zurg que en la segunda película de Toy Story, nos revelan que él es el padre de Buzz y entiendo que esto fue hecho por meme, pero que ignoraran eso e hicieran que Zurg es Buzz viejito, fue algo que a muchos les molesto, aunque yo creo en la teoría que podría explicar esto, siento que el problema es que la película no se centra en explicar estos detalles, lo que crea muchas lagunas argumentales, hasta que propio director tuvo que responder muchas preguntas en Twitter, como es que los humanos pudieron rápidamente construir una vida en ese planeta si no había recursos.
On top of that, we have the plot flaw regarding Emperor Zurg that in the second Toy Story movie, they reveal to us that he is Buzz's father and I understand that this was done for meme, but that they ignored that and made Zurg to be old Buzz, was something that many were upset about, although I believe in the theory that could explain this, I feel the problem is that the movie doesn't focus on explaining these details, which creates a lot of plot holes, even the director himself had to answer a lot of questions on Twitter, how is it that humans could quickly build a life on that planet if there were no resources.

No puedo decir mucho de los personajes porque la gran mayoría me parecieron muy básicos, los únicos que me parecieron promedio fueron Alisha, Izzy y Buzz. Alisha me cayó bien, pero no aparece mucho tiempo, mientras que Izzy y Buzz no me sorprendieron en nada, he visto esta historia varias veces que ya me era muy predecible lo que pasaría. Pero el mejor es el gatito Sox, literal, si ese gato no hubiera historia, además que es agradable, aunque es bastante convenientes que él tenga la solución a todo, pero me sigue cayendo bien.
I can't say much about the characters because I found the vast majority of them very basic, the only ones I found average were Alisha, Izzy and Buzz. I liked Alisha, but she doesn't appear for long, while Izzy and Buzz didn't surprise me at all, I've seen this story so many times that it was already very predictable what would happen. But the best is the kitty Sox, literally, if that cat there would be no story, plus he is nice, although it is quite convenient that he has the solution to everything, but I still like him.

Lo que si me pareció muy bueno es el apartado gráfico, cada vez Pixar adopta gráficos más realistas, sobre todo en los escenarios que se ven muy bonitos, como por ejemplo, las escenas en el espacio que se ve hermoso; la trama en general, no es para nada nuevo, pero si puede gustarle a los niños. Por otro lado, esta película se suma al hablar de temas serios como es la culpa en este caso, pero no rompe el molde como otras películas como Intensamente, Red, Soul, Up, entre otros y tampoco en la parte emocional como ya es costumbre de Pixar.
What I found very good is the graphics, every time Pixar adopts more realistic graphics, especially in the scenarios that look very nice, for example, the scenes in space that looks beautiful; the plot in general, is nothing new, but if you can like the children. On the other hand, this film adds to talk about serious issues such as guilt in this case, but does not break the mold as other films like Intensamente, Red, Soul, Up, among others and neither in the emotional part as is customary Pixar.

Con todo esto explicado, llegamos a la conclusión y siento honesta, la película no es mala, es entretenida sobre todo para los niños, pero ni de cerca le llega a los talones a las demás películas de la saga. Por lo que, para los adultos que crecimos con las demás películas, está seguramente no será para tanto. Personalmente, considero que debes verla sin esperarte la gran cosa, porque seguramente saldrás decepcionado.
With all this explained, we come to the conclusion and I feel honest, the film is not bad, it is entertaining especially for children, but not even close to the heels of the other films in the saga. So, for adults who grew up with the other movies, this one will surely not be that great. Personally, I think you should see it without expecting a big deal, because you will surely be disappointed.
