Ver series es mi pasatiempo favorito, tengo muchas que veo actualmente: Skins, BoJack Horseman y Stranger Things que vi sus dos primeros episodios. Como tengo muchas series que me gustan, está vez hablare de dos: The Act y Neon Genesis Evangelion.

La terrorífica historia de Gypsy y Dee Dee Blanchard, seguro muchos ya conocen la historia, esta serie la conocí cuando investigue sobre este caso, me llaman mucho la atención las series sobre asesinos y casos misteriosos, por lo que, este me llamó mucho la atención y estuve días buscando la serie para descargar.
Me costó un poco, pero por fin pude verla y wau, me gustó muchísimo la verdad. Serie original de Hulu estrenada en 2019 y basado en el caso de Gypsy, una chica que durante 24 años estuvo sometida a diverso maltratos de parte de su madre Dee Dee y que para salir de esta situación, junto a su novio, planea asesinar a su propia madre. Este es uno de esos casos en donde nada es lo que parece, Dee Dee a ojos de todo el mundo, era la madre perfecta, aquella que hizo de todo por cuidar a su hija Gypsy la cual tenía muchas complicaciones de salud, entre ellas: leucemia, distrofia muscular, retraso mental, epilepsia, apnea del sueño, alergias y muchas cosas más.
La situación de la niña hacía que muchas organizaciones las apoyaran, sobre todo con el huracán Katrina que destruyó su casa en Luisiana en 2005. Sin embargo, las cosas no eran como las hacía ver Dee Dee y Gypsy. Nadie lo sabía, pero Dee Dee tenía el “síndrome de Münchhausen” el cual es una enfermedad mental considera también como abuso infantil, en donde generalmente la madre inventa una enfermedad o causa síntomas a su propio hijo para hacerlo pasar por un enfermo y recibir apoyo económico y de otras personas y en efecto, lo logró.
The terrifying story of Gypsy and Dee Dee Blanchard, sure many already know the story, I met this series when I investigated this case, I am very interested in series about murderers and mysterious cases, so this one caught my attention and I spent days looking for the series to download.
It took me a while, but I finally got to see it and wow, I really liked it. Original Hulu series released in 2019 and based on the case of Gypsy, a girl who for 24 years was subjected to various mistreatment from her mother Dee Dee and that to get out of this situation, along with her boyfriend, plans to murder her own mother. This is one of those cases where nothing is what it seems, Dee Dee in the eyes of everyone, was the perfect mother, the one who did everything to take care of her daughter Gypsy who had many health complications, including: leukemia, muscular dystrophy, mental retardation, epilepsy, sleep apnea, allergies and much more.
The girl's situation made many organizations support them, especially with Hurricane Katrina that destroyed her home in Louisiana in 2005. However, things were not as Dee Dee and Gypsy made them out to be. No one knew it, but Dee Dee had "Münchhausen syndrome" which is a mental illness also considered as child abuse, where generally the mother invents an illness or causes symptoms in her own child to make him look sick and receive financial support and other people, and in effect, she did it.
Sin embargo, Gypsy era una víctima de lo sucedido y en esta serie podemos ver las torturas físicas y psicológicas que eran infligidas por su madre y como al descubrir que ella no estaba realmente enferma, decide huir de su madre sin éxito, pero luego decide asesinarla con su novio virtual: Nick Godejohn.
La serie no es para todo el mundo, es un poco fuerte sobre todo teniendo en cuenta que está basada en hechos reales. Como una persona que le encanta este tipo de casos, este me sorprendió muchísimo porque no es un caso como te lo esperarías, la serie comienza con el asesinato de Dee Dee, pero durante los próximos 8 episodios podemos ver lo que nos lleva al acto, haciendo un recorrido durante varios años y varios sucesos.
La serie es de antología, es decir, no hay una continuación de la historia en otra temporada, por lo que, la serie es conclusiva, aunque tengo entendido que en el futuro puede haber más temporadas con más casos, aunque hasta ahora no he sabido más nada de ello.
However, Gypsy was a victim of what happened and in this series we can see the physical and psychological tortures that were inflicted by her mother and how upon discovering that she was not really sick, she decides to run away from her mother unsuccessfully, but then decides to murder her with her virtual boyfriend: Nick Godejohn.
The series is not for everyone, it's a bit strong especially considering it's based on true events. As a person who loves this kind of cases, this one surprised me a lot because it is not a case as you would expect it, the series starts with the murder of Dee Dee, but during the next 8 episodes we can see what leads us to the act, making a journey over several years and several events.
The series is an anthology series, that is, there is no continuation of the story in another season, so, the series is conclusive, although I understand that in the future there may be more seasons with more cases, although so far I have not heard more about it.
Yo me vi la serie sabiendo la historia, pero para alguien que no conozca nada de la historia, puede sorprenderles mucho la serie porque al principio parece que la serie va por un camino y luego se dirige a otro y luego a otro, lo que la hace difícil de predecir el final. Es una serie rápida, entretenida e intensa y esto gracias a lo bien dirigida que está, los efectos de cámara y paletas de colores usada en muchas ocasiones con el fin de generar terror o cierta sensación de incomodidad. También tenemos las actuaciones que destacó a los tres elementos más importantes de la historia:
I watched the series knowing the story, but for someone who knows nothing of the story, the series may surprise them a lot because at the beginning it seems that the series goes one way and then goes another and then another, which makes it difficult to predict the ending. It is a fast paced, entertaining and intense series and this thanks to how well directed it is, the camera effects and color palettes used on many occasions in order to generate terror or a certain sense of discomfort. Dee Dee interpretada por Patricia Arquette, ganadora de un Óscar y otros premios más, su trabajo en la serie está excelente, puedes llegar a sentir odio y a veces hasta empatía por su personaje, siento que lo hace muy bien a pesar de que es un papel muy complejo.

Gypsy interpretada por Joey King lo hace muy bien, es primera vez que la veo haciendo un buen papel (olvida a Netflix, amiga) y se luce, representa muy bien el temor y odio que siente este personaje por su mamá, pero también es muy tierna y en general es un 10 para mí (y se ganó el Emmy, por cierto).
Gypsy played by Joey King does very well, it's the first time I see her playing a good role (forget Netflix, girlfriend) and she shines, she represents very well the fear and hate this character feels for her mom, but she is also very tender and overall a 10 for me (and she won the Emmy, by the way).
Nick interpretado por Calum Worthy que solamente lo he visto en Austin & Ally y no esperaba mucho de él, pero aquí lo hace sorprendente, parece una persona tierna y amigable en su lado bueno, pero bastante cruel en su lado malvado, para mí lo hizo muy bien.
Nick played by Calum Worthy who I've only seen him in Austin & Ally and didn't expect much from him, but here he does amazing, he seems like a tender and friendly person on his good side, but quite cruel on his evil side, for me he did very well.
Entiendo que para muchos la serie fue bastante traumática, aunque para mí no lo era tanto quizás porque me gusta lo gore aunque está serie no tenemos mucho gore, así que, si te esperas ver el asesinato de Dee Dee, pues no lo hay. Pero no lo siento como algo malo, la serie no se va a lo gore (aunque podía hacerlo), sino que a estudiar la psicología de los personajes y su degradación moral y como llegan hasta el punto de quiebre en donde no existe la empatía. Tampoco hay drama, si que a veces nos da rabia, eso sí hay bastante.
La historia está muy apegada a la realidad, hay cosas que si son ficción, pero que no cambia en nada la historia, por lo que, podemos esperar una serie que en el 90% de lo sucedido es real, además que he visto algunos videos de Gypsy y Dee Dee en algunos eventos de calidad en la realidad y al compararlos con lo que se ve en la serie, son muy parecidas, el ambiente está muy bien lograda.
Me recuerda en algunos momentos a Misery por lo que, si les gustó el libro o la película, de seguro les gustará está serie porque en ciertos puntos se parecen aunque claro, una historia es real y otra es ficción. Como recomendación, les diré que mejor se vean la serie en su formato original para que se pueda apreciar sus actuaciones y si quieren, en HBO está un documental llamado Mommy Dead and Dearest en donde podemos ver un poco más del caso, muy recomendable también.
I understand that for many the series was quite traumatic, although for me it was not so much, maybe because I like gore, although this series does not have much gore, so if you expect to see the murder of Dee Dee, well, there is none. But I don't feel it's a bad thing, the series doesn't go for gore (although it could), but to study the psychology of the characters and their moral degradation and how they reach the breaking point where there is no empathy. There is no drama either, although it does make us angry at times, but there is plenty of it.
The story is very close to reality, there are things that are fiction, but that does not change the story, so we can expect a series that 90% of what happened is real, plus I've seen some videos of Gypsy and Dee Dee in some quality events in reality and when compared to what you see in the series, they are very similar, the atmosphere is very well achieved.
It reminds me in some moments of Misery so, if you liked the book or the movie, you will surely like this series because in certain points they are similar although of course, one story is real and the other is fiction. As a recommendation, I will tell you that you better watch the series in its original format so you can appreciate their performances and if you want, on HBO there is a documentary called Mommy Dead and Dearest where we can see a little more of the case, also highly recommended.
Ahora nos vamos a un terreno más complicado, está serie la ví por recomendación de un amigo, a mí me gustan mucho las series que son extrañas, difíciles de comprender, que se requiere de mucho análisis y prestar mucha atención, llena de detalles y mucho simbolismo. Por lo que, si te gustan enredarte todo, te recomiendo verte Evangelion.
También conocido como EVA, es un anime estrenado en 1995 compuesto por 26 episodios de 22 minutos cada uno. Basado en un manga hecho por Hideaki Anno que también hizo la serie y como dato curioso, escribió la historia como una forma se sobrellevar su depresión y si, en esta serie hay depresión a niveles altos, por lo que está serie te bajará un poco la estabilidad mental.
La serie se encuentra en Netflix a igual que algunas películas. Sin embargo, si hay películas que tendrás que descargar y actualmente hay 6 películas y bueno, la serie es confusa, por lo que deberán investigar e orden cronológico para entenderla y aun así les aseguro que será difícil entenderla, pero es muy recomendada.

Shinji llega a Tokyo por orden de su padre el cual es jefe de la organización deberá destruir a estos Ángeles junto a Rei, Asuka y Nagisa posteriormente. Esta es la historia que podemos ver en el anime, la cual parece muy sencilla, pero cuando lleguen al final de la serie y comiencen las películas, la historia se comienza a poner confusa y muy extraña e deprimente, muy deprimente.
La serie no se trata de un grupo de jóvenes salvando al mundo, la serie se va al plano simbólico y psicológico en donde nos muestra como las relaciones humanas pueden destruir o sanar la mente de las personas, todo esto metiéndonos en el mar de la simbología no solo religiosa que hay muchísimas y de seguro captaran algunas de ellas, pero también tenemos simbolismos psicológicos y más cosas, en serio, cuando vía se serie y luego vi una explicación de los simbolismos, hay muchísimas cosas que no entendí y hizo que cambiará mi forma de ver la serie, por lo que, es una de esas que debes ver unas dos o tres veces para entenderlo.

Evangelion fue sin dudas un ante y después para el género mecha, llegando a deconstruirlo y hasta el día de hoy, seguimos tratando de averiguar de qué trata Evangelion, pero para mí se trata de las relaciones, no solo amorosas, sino familiares y de amistad que puede salvarnos o hundirnos en la miseria.
La serie es impredecible, al principio la historia toma un rumbo lineal y muy sencillo, pero poco a poco podemos ver lo oscuro y extraño que se torna y da para analizarlo muchísimo porque existen muchos detalles que sería genial de analizarlo (quizás algún día analice Evangelion, aunque será difícil).

Un punto positivo de Evangelion son los personajes y sus desarrollos, al principio parecen personajes muy cliché: un niño miedoso, una chica audaz y energética, un chico amable, pero extraño y una chica al parecer sin sentimientos, pero que la serie no tiene problemas de mostrar su lado oscura, la serie los destruye y los hace caer al fondo, todo para tener un buen desarrollo de personajes y hasta cierto punto puedes empatizar con todos hasta con los villanos, eso sí, al principio pueden caerte mal los personajes, pero solo es cuestión de esperar a conocerlos mejor para comprenderlos completamente y esto se logra por lo bien escrita que está la serie y por lo bien construido que están los personajes.
No hablare sobre ellos o más sobre la historia que abarca la serie porque arruinaría un poco la misma, por lo que, recomiendo verla sin saber lo que te esperaras. Lo que si te digo es que Evangelion demuestra que la animación no es solo para niños, que series y películas animadas pueden tratar temas adultos y psicológicos.
A positive point of Evangelion are the characters and their development, at the beginning they seem very cliché characters: a fearful boy, a bold and energetic girl, a kind but strange boy and a girl apparently without feelings, but that the series has no problem to show their dark side, the series destroys them and makes them fall to the bottom, all to have a good character development and to some extent you can empathize with everyone even with the villains, yes, at first you may dislike the characters, but it is only a matter of waiting to know them better to understand them completely and this is achieved by how well written the series is and how well built the characters are.
I won't talk about them or more about the story that the series covers because it would ruin the series a bit, so, I recommend watching it without knowing what to expect. What I will tell you is that Evangelion shows that animation is not only for children, that animated series and movies can deal with adult and psychological themes.
