La Cenicienta es uno de los personajes más trillados del mundo, existen muchas versiones con Cenicientas de diferentes razas, culturas, algunas modernas y otras clásicas. Todos crecimos con la versión de Disney y ya todos conocemos la historia, incluso varios conocen la historia original, por lo que, la única razón para traer una nueva versión es para montarse en el tren del progresismo y feminismo y otras cosas por allí.

Después de llorar un rato, aparece el Hade Madrine y le da un vestido, caballos y una carroza y Ella va al baile, descubre que el pobre era el príncipe y se enamoran, además de que Ella consigue una clienta.

From the beginning we are clear that it will be a very Disney musical, that is, bad. I either like musicals because of how well made they are or I hate them, and I hate this one. There are many things to criticize in this movie, so we will list them:
Todos los personajes son súper planos y solo sirven para representar un tema que está película quiere incluir, pero no profundiza, es decir, Ella es feminista, quiere su negocio y no quiere casarse, pero a cada rato provoca darle un golpe, en primer lugar, Camila Cabello actúa muy mal, es tierna, trata de ser graciosa y queda terrible y no hace nada por representar el feminismo de una buena manera. Hasta es egoísta en cierto punto porque pudo casarse con el príncipe y cambiar las reglas para favorecer a las mujeres, pero nah… y su voz, ella no canta mal, pero su voz no combina en nada con las demás voces a la hora del canto y eso suena raro, además, vi la versión en español y ella misma se dobla su voz al español y es… horrible.

La familia real son muy planos, tenemos al rey machista que solo sirve para ser machista y redimirse al final, la reina que solo sirve para estar allí y al final montarle una pelea al rey, Gwen solo está allí para dar algún que otro comentario inteligente de como gobernar y si, es muy fastidiosa con eso, sobretodo porque lo hace en los momentos menos oportunos, el príncipe es muy simple, no hace nada en favor de la película y su relación con Ella es demasiado superficial y a veces es algo bipolar.

Las hermanastras son un cero a la izquierda que solo están allí para decorar, en las demás versiones tampoco son muy importantes, pero cumplen el rol de arruinarle la vida a Cenicienta, pero acá casi y son amigas y la madrastra, no es cruel, es decir, sí que trata un poco mal a Ella y sus propias hijas, pero no es nada en comparación a otras versiones, lo bueno es que ella tiene algo de historia y un pasado que al final no importa.

Los ratones no son para nada graciosos y por cierto, James Corden es productor y uno de los ratones, es idea mía o ¿todas las películas en donde aparecen son malas? Y ahora lo que a todo el mundo impresiono, tenemos al Hade Madrine interpretado por Billy Porter, miren, es el mejor personaje de esta película; carismático, divertido y tiene buena voz, el problema es que es inclusión forzada y luego hablaremos de ello.

Música / Music:
Otro problema de esta película es la música y no es porque sea mala, es que solo una o dos de las canciones de esta película son originales, las demás son canciones ya establecidas y que no tienen nada que ver con la película y bueno, no es que esto sea malo, lo hemos visto antes y no queda mal, el problema es que las canciones parecen escogidas solo porque son famosas, porque en serio, las canciones no tienen nada que ver con la película. Por ejemplo: Rhythm Nation de Janet Jackson's trata de la desigualdad solo es utilizada para ver como el reino trabaja y baila, Material Girl de Madonna solo sirve para decirnos que la Madrastra es materialista y por eso, sus hijas también deben serlo.

Somebody to Love de Queen habla de que el mismísimo Freddy Mercury quiere a alguien que pueda amarlo a pesar de sus defectos y así superar la depresión, pero aquí solo sirve para ver como el príncipe quiere una novia, aquí pensé que el príncipe era bipolar porque antes de esta canción peleo con su padre porque no quería tener novia. Perfect de Ed Sheeran es hermosa y perfecta para dedicar a un ser amado y aquí la cantan Ella y el príncipe en su primera escena “romántica”, también tenemos otras canciones que no combinan con nada, en serio, lo vi con subtítulos y no tenían sentido en el contexto que era presentado.
Somebody to Love by Queen talks about how Freddy Mercury himself wants someone who can love him despite his flaws and thus overcome depression, but here it only serves to see how the prince wants a girlfriend, here I thought the prince was bipolar because before this song he fought with his father because he didn't want to have a girlfriend. Solo hay dos canciones que se notan que son originales porque tienen sentido en el contexto aunque son canciones muy repetitivas y muy básicas. También tenemos al mensajero del reino que cada vez que aparece debe rapear porque sí. La única canción buena es de Idina Menzel que es la madrastra que podemos escucharla casi al final y es muy bonito, la verdad, tiene trasfondo.

Ambientación / Ambience:
Está película no sabe en donde está ubicado, así de sencillo. Camila Cabello dobla su voz al español y tiene un acento cubano marcado y se supone que estamos en lo que creo que es Inglaterra. La vestimenta de los personajes parecen sacados de diferentes épocas, mientras que los pobres usan ropa de época, Ella usa lo equivalente a ropa interior y nadie dice nada, la realeza usa ropa muy moderna y en el baile, los vestidos ninguno era de época, incluso hay una chica rapada por allí. Las canciones no son de época y los vestido que hace Ella tampoco.
This movie doesn't know where it's set, plain and simple. Camila Cabello dubs her voice into Spanish and has a thick Cuban accent and we are supposed to be in what I think is England. Se supone que estamos en una época en donde las mujeres no pueden tener su propio negocio a pesar que desde la antigüedad existen trabajos únicamente para mujeres y no me refiero solamente a la prostitución, también tenemos la confección de vestidos que exactamente lo que quiere Ella, por lo que, no tiene sentido que Ella no pueda confeccionar sus vestidos a pesar de que es un trabajo para mujeres. Ella se monta en la estatua del antiguo Rey y al parecer eso no es un insulto.

Si la película es de época, lo mínimo que pido es que tenga coherencia con la época y está película lo hace cuando le interesa, si fuera una historia más moderna, tendría sentido, pero no, está película parece ubicada en un espacio-tiempo que no conocemos.

Feminismo y Progresista / Feminism and Progressive:
Algo que me molesta mucho en películas es cuando a la fuerza quieren ser progresistas, esto lo logran metiendo a colación ciertos temas como el feminismo, el machismo y otros temas más, pero que al final no hacen nada con eso, es decir, hacen al rey machista y se burlan de que el reino es machista, pero de la noche a la mañana todo cambia y ya se acabó el machismo, Ella quiere ser una feminista empoderada queriendo poner su propio negocio, la madrastra antes era empoderada, pero tuvo que arrodillarse ante un hombre y al final se vuelve empoderada. Es como si está película quisiera meter el poder femenino, lo hacen con tener a mujeres empoderadas que logran sus metas y acaban con el machismo ya que el Rey cambio.
Me molesta que metan estás ideas y luego no las desarrollen como si tuvieran miedo de hacerlo, ni Ella ni Gwen hacen algo que realmente podamos decir que son mujeres empoderadas, solo logran sus sueños y ya, ni una charla del empoderamiento, ni una escena en donde vemos a estas chicas luchar por salir adelante, nada, al final las cosas se salen bien por conveniencia de la historia y eso sin contar que Ella quería un trabajo aceptado por la sociedad en aquella época, si quisiera ser albañil lo entendería, pero no, no funciona.

It bothers me that they put these ideas and then do not develop them as if they were afraid to do it, neither Ella nor Gwen do something that we can really say that they are empowered women, they just achieve their dreams and that's it, not a talk of empowerment, not a scene where we see these girls struggle to get ahead, nothing, in the end things go well for convenience of the story and that without counting that Ella wanted a job accepted by society at that time, if she wanted to be a bricklayer I would understand it, but no, it does not work.

También tenemos a personajes que representan la minoría en la sociedad actual que es lo único progresista que tienen, incluso tenemos a la Hade Madrina que como dije, es inclusión forzada porque no había necesidad de hacerle ese cambio, solo está allí para representar la comunidad LGBT, pero no aporta nada. Me molesta en especial cuando incluyen personajes gays porque si, pudieron haber hecho algo interesante con su personaje y con el Rey y príncipe y los las mujeres de esta película, pero nah, mejor no meterse con estos temas que no nos interesa desarrollar y dejar un mensaje.

Si van a colocar un personaje gay, que tenga un propósito además de ser el personaje gay, si van a hablar del feminismo, que tenga un propósito y un mensaje, igual con el machismo. No incluyan esto solo porque sí, háganlo de buena manera, no me molesta que la película critique de una manera muy superficial esto temas, pero al menos desarróllenlo bien y que los personajes hagan realmente algo por ser progresivo.
Incluso, las películas anteriores de la Cenicienta eran más progresista y tenía mejores mensajes, a pesar de que no tenían mucha diversidad, pero acá quisieron darle diversidad a cambio de una buena historia y buenos mensajes. Lo siento, pero las películas “feministas” de la actualidad son muy malas y está es una de ellas.
If you are going to put a gay character, let it have a purpose besides being a gay character, if you are going to talk about feminism, let it have a purpose and a message, the same with machismo. Don't include this just for the sake of it, do it in a good way, I don't mind if the movie criticizes in a very superficial way these issues, but at least develop it well and have the characters actually do something to be progressive.
Even, the previous Cinderella movies were more progressive and had better messages, even though they didn't have much diversity, but here they wanted to give diversity in exchange for a good story and good messages. I'm sorry, but "feminist" movies nowadays are very bad and this is one of them.
