¿Y a ti qué te duele pelirroja?
Estoy segura que a cualquier cubano familiarizado con estos dibujos animados (creánme que son muchos) al hacerle esta pregunta contestará al instante: "a mí ná, estoy traduciendo". Esto me provoca mucha risa. La risa es cura para el alma y pasar un buen rato viendo dibujos animados graciosos siempre resulta una buena terapia, ¿verdad?
Me gustaría que mis amigos de Hive conozcan un poco acerca de estos clásicos cubanos que nos han acompañado desde pequeños y que no pocos momentos gratos nos han hecho pasar. Figúrense si es así, y no me dejarán mentir mis coterráneos, que aún siendo unos vejetes volvemos a ellos muchas veces o si vemos que los están poniendo en la TV, pues es muy posible que dejemos todo y nos sentemos a disfrutarlos.
Podemos a cada tanto acceder a estos recuerdos también a través de las redes sociales. No te voy a negar que muchas veces me pongo a mirar dibujos animados cuando me siento aburrida o estresada, o sea, es entretenimiento y a la vez me ayuda a liberar tensiones.
La saga de Elpidio Valdés surgió en los años 70 del pasado siglo y trata de un coronel mambí que lucha por liberarse del dominio español. Se ha presentado también en forma de cómics; recuerdo que tuve uno, y debe de estar en algún cajón, pero la verdad es que ahora mismo no lo encuentro.
Contamos con una gran cantidad de historias de este personaje y de otros graciosísimos que lo acompañan en cada entrega. Por otra parte, es notable la manera de hablar de cada uno, de acuerdo con su cualidad o rol, y muchas de las cosas que dicen, fundamentalmente las humorísticas, las tenemos incorporadas en nuestro repertorio de frases diarias.
Aunque la creatividad de su autor, el dibujante y cineasta cubano Juan Padrón, jugó un papel primordial en esto, también supongo que la fraseología surgió de nuestra cotidianidad, de esa manera que tenemos muchas veces de expresarnos los cubanos. Hay que tener un diccionario para entendernos. 😁
La historia de Una aventura de Elpidio Valdés (1974)
Todo comienza cuando un español le lee al General Resóplez un reporte de las bajas y le dice que ocho soldados cayeron de sus caballos borrachos. El General se altera y los manda a apresar por estar bebiendo en horas de servicio, pero resulta que los borrachos no eran los soldados, sino los caballos, porque Elpidio Valdés había echado ron en el pienso de alimentarlos. Y aquí comienza a desarrollarse la historia. Se supone que tenían al mambí cercado; sin embargo, no hay descanso para los españoles, llegan noticias de que Elpidio se robó el chorizo del almuerzo.
Fíjate en la ambientación desde que comienza, vas a notar las palmas reales de nuestros campos, y otros detalles como cuadros en las paredes que refieren costumbres, actividades y símbolos de España.
Este personaje que habla mucho y siempre está al lado de Resóplez es el Coronel Andaluz. Se caracteriza por tener buena disposición y mucha fe en que las acciones contra el mambí serán exitosas. Ya verás.
También encontrarás referencias cinematográficas, por supuesto, con mucho humor. De la misma manera es presentada la violencia, esto se trata de una guerra, pero no vamos a ver sangre ni nada por el estilo. Estas situaciones se resuelven de manera que nos provoque mucha risa.
Se hace mucho hincapié en la inventiva del Coronel mambí y sus artes de lucha. Hay un momento que dice: Vamos a fajarnos, caballeros, al machete y con la luz apagada.
La parte de la traductora es muy graciosa porque el caballo se resiste a revelar el paradero de su dueño, él es un mambí más y lo torturan… bueno ya viste el título de este post.
Cada cortometraje finaliza con la frase de “Eso habría que verlo”, porque el Andaluz siempre le garantiza a Resóplez que en la próxima aventura van a hacer picadillo al mambí… pero disfruta de este dibujo animado. Más abajo te dejaré referencias para puedas ver la cantidad de cortos y películas que se hicieron y además acceder a otros datos interesantes de la saga. Mi idea por el momento es despertarte la curiosidad.

The Story of An Adventure by Elpidio Valdés (1974)
It all begins when a Spaniard reads General Resóplez a casualty report and tells him that eight soldiers fell from their horses drunk. The General gets upset and sends them to be arrested for drinking during duty hours, but it turns out that the drunkards were not the soldiers, but the horses, because Elpidio Valdés had poured rum into the feed to feed them. And this is where the story begins to unfold. It is assumed that they had the mambí surrounded; however, there is no rest for the Spaniards, news arrives that Elpidio stole the chorizo (sausage) from lunch.
Look at the atmosphere from the beginning, you will notice the royal palms trees of our fields, and other details from Spain, such as paintings on the walls.
This character who talks a lot and is always by Resóplez's side is the Andalusian Colonel. He is characterized by having a good disposition and a lot of faith that the actions against the mambí will be successful. You'll see.
You'll also find cinematographic references, of course, with a lot of humor. The same way violence is presented, this is a war, but we're not going to see blood or anything like that. These situations are resolved in a way that causes us a lot of laughter.
Much emphasis is also placed on the inventiveness of the mambí Colonel and his fighting arts. There's a moment when he says, "Let's get going, gentlemen, with a machete and the lights off."
The translator's part is very funny because the horse refuses to reveal the whereabouts of its owner, he is just another mambí and they torture him... Well, you saw the title of this post.
Each short film ends with the phrase "That would have to be seen", because the Andalusian always guarantees Resóplez that in the next adventure they are going to make mincemeat of the mambí...
