Hello! It is that festive time of year again. Where has the year gone?! Well, let's not dwell on the inevitable and rapid passing of time, and let's get cozy by the fireplace. Ready to read on? I doubt it. Here's what you should do first: get yourself a mug of hot chocolate. Dim the lights. Throw on your favourite festive jumper for that extra bit of warmth and comfort.
This year in the Movies & TV Shows community, we're going to keep things real simple. While there will be some additional rules that you will find below, the theme is to write about any Christmas film or television series. Now, some films even decades later continue to have heated debates regarding their eligibility as Christmas films, but don't worry, as long as the film takes place around Christmas or features Christmas themes, it's fine!
Going more into the specifics of the contest here are the rules. Be sure to read them and follow them, as they may void your post(s) from entering the contest! Some of these rules may seem a bit self-explanatory, but we'll mention them anyway, starting with some of the most obvious ones:
- No plagiarism.
- No AI images or text.
- Your post MUST contain at least 500 words in ONE language. Bilingual posts as always are accepted.
- Video submissions via 3speak are accepted if you'd prefer video over text.
- List posts on multiple movies or series are accepted.
- You MUST use the #xmas2023 tag in your post.
- Christmas special episodes or films are accepted.
- Christmas themed music video reviews are accepted.
- No cross-posting.
- You MUST post the link to your post(s) in the comments of this contest announcement.
- YOU MUST submit your post(s) by January 12, 2024.
If you break any of these rules, not only does it void your contribution in the contest, depending on the severity of the rules broken, you may receive downvotes to remove any potential rewards gained and be muted in the community.
You are allowed to post numerous entries in this contest during its runtime. We use a points-based calculating system based on numerous criteria when voting the winners per post; these points do not stack based on multiple posts. For more information on that criteria, read here:
- Comments on other posts.
- Upvotes on other posts.
- Post presentation and quality.
- Use of personal screenshots and imagery in the post(s) or videos.

It is worth noting that even if you feel you are not a strong writer, you can still contribute. Posts that we feel have some quality to them under our regular curation responsibilities will still be nominated for OCD curation each day. Video submissions via 3speak are accepted.
First place: 15 HBD.
Second place: 10 HBD.
Third place: 5 HBD.
