I would have never imagined how entertaining it was to watch this 2003 movie with my father, at the beginning of the new year. It is Open Range or Pact of Justice, as it is known in Latin America; a film that takes place in the tranquility of the American Wild West and that little by little, leads us to the inevitable and that was something common in those times, the confrontations at gunpoint. However, Kevin Costner, director and protagonist of this old style adventure, shows us much more than just shootings and fights, he shows us the value of friendship, loyalty and the word of a man.
Jamás hubiese imaginado lo entretenido que resultó ver esta película del año 2003 con mi padre, en pleno inicio de año nuevo. Se trata de Open Range o Pacto de Justicia, como se le conoce en Hispanoamérica; una cinta que transcurre en la tranquilidad del lejano oeste norteamericano y que de a poco, nos va llevando hacia lo inevitable y que era algo común por aquellos tiempos, los enfrentamientos a punta de pistola. Sin embargo Kevin Costner, director y protagonista de esta aventura al viejo estilo, nos muestra mucho más que solo disparos y peleas, nos muestra el valor de la amistad, lealtad y la palabra de hombre.

To be honest, the story grabbed us because of its resemblance to my father's past; although the film is about to be 20 years old, I have only seen it a couple of times. I think it should have been shown more on TV, but every time I can I enjoy it without hesitation; the action episodes are perhaps a little late, but they are really worth the wait. The scenes where they exchange gunfire are thrilling and have an unparalleled sense of realism. Charlie demonstrates his skills with a pistol and rifle, which reminds him of a past that is never revealed and intrigues the viewer.
