I'm not a film critic and I'm not used to talking about movies; Yes, I can give a very personal opinion, but I don't dedicate my free time to that. I enjoy much more and I can give constructive or destructive criticism towards the music; Since I was a child I have kept my passion for reading that manages to catch my attention, be it history, science, sex, music, etc. If it catches me, I accept my defeat to the good reading that I enjoy and that's it; but in this very particular case, I am going to talk about a movie that I enjoyed a lot when I saw it for the first time in 1986. It was an important part, in which my passion for music grew enormously. The film is internationally called **"Trick Or Treat"** and released that same year.
Película que en su momento fue catalogada como película de terror; al menos aquí en Venezuela, su trama fue dirigida principalmente a la juventud de mediados de los 80, mostrando el estilo de vida, el mundo juvenil en pleno high school, la moda y los gustos musicales, pero en este caso es una autentica referencia hacia el Heavy Metal de los 80 y lo que influyo en dicha juventud de mediados y finales de los 80. La historia muestra sutilmente aquellos discos que ahora son muy respetados y aclamados por coleccionistas de discos de diferentes grupos, que ahora son clásicos dentro del género metalero en su tope de popularidad tanto en ventas de discos, continua transmisión en las radios mundiales y ventas de entradas en cada presentación.
La película tuvo tres títulos de presentación; la 1era con su título original “Trick or Treat” para todo los Estados Unidos y Canadá. La Historia hace bastante referencia a un joven solitario y marginado por ser roquero; en los 80 sin saberlo muchos jóvenes sufrieron ese trato que ahora y desde hace un tiempo, le dieron el nombre de bullyng, por eso el título de la película ya que el protagonista en el pasar de su tormento se ve tentado a ser un pacto/truco con el antihéroe o malo de la película.
Film that at the time was classified as a horror film; at least here in Venezuela, its plot was directed mainly at the youth of the mid-80s, showing the lifestyle, the youth world in full high school, fashion and musical tastes, but in this case it is an authentic reference to the Heavy Metal of the 80s and what influenced said youth of the mid and late 80s. The story subtly shows those records that are now highly respected and acclaimed by record collectors from different groups, which are now classics within the metal genre. at its peak of popularity both in record sales, continuous broadcast on world radio stations and ticket sales in each presentation.
The film had three presentation titles; the 1st with its original title **"Trick or Treak"**. for the entire United States and Canada. History makes quite a lot of reference to a lonely and marginalized young man for being a rocker; In the 80s many youngsters unknowingly suffered this treatment that now and for some time now, they gave it the name of **bullyng**, hence the title of the film since the protagonist in the course of his torment is tempted to be a pact / trick with the antihero or bad guy of the movie.
En Europa y algunas partes en Latinoamérica el 2da título empleado fue “Muerte a 33 r.p.m”; en mi caso estoy muy seguro que dicho título fue para darle más empuje a las ventas de los diferentes sistemas de sonidos que se podían conseguir con facilidad; cosa que ahora si se consiguen pero en otros países donde la música si es valorada, en este país, ya no hay público y mucho menos tiendas especializadas. Aunque investigando en las redes supe conocer de una tienda física en caracas llamada Adson C.A. Aprovecho el momento para indicarles la dirección física de dicha tienda; Centro de Arete los Galpones, Galpón 18, Los Chorros 1071, el Instagram es @absonca. Espero ir algún día y ver que se me pega, según lo publicado tienen cosas interesantes. Lo importante y es buena noticia que poco a poco vuelvan tiendas donde se puedan conseguir música y equipos de audio para los amantes de la buena era vintage.
El 3er y último título utilizado para dar a conocer la película y solo para Venezuela fue con el nombre de “Noche de Brujas”. En este caso supongo que tomaron dicho título por referencia a la película del director John Carpenter y cuyo protagonismo fue con la actriz Jamie lee Curtis de 1979 aunque la película se llama "Halloween" la historia transcurre en el día de las brujas y muertos; y esto, porque en los 80 las películas de terror tuvieron su buen punto de popularidad. En lo que a mí respecta, era un niño inocente de 11 años con mucha hambre de rock, esta película la conocí y la vi por 1era vez con dicho nombre y al verla me impacto no tanto la trama, sino el sistema de sonido y los vinilos que son también los protagonistas dentro de la historia.

Muchos años después leí que la película al salir fue directamente a los canales de televisión con continua transmisión, en los cines no duro mucho y no le fue muy bien, pero con los años se ha convertido en una película de culto y de gran referencia hacia el heavy metal ochentero. Estilo que tuvo mucha fama y eso lo refleja la película, donde los personajes muestran el estilo de vida a su temprana edad de la juventud en la forma de vestirse, maquilarse, hasta de caminar y hablar. Hay una escena memorable y es cuando el protagonista coloca el “Vinilo Protagonista” en la tornamesa y le da giros al plato de un lado a otro, me encanto todo ese momento de prender el sistema de sonido y como se movía el brazo de la aguja y el sonido que salía de los parlantes, así como el ecualizador hacia su trabajo, etc.
For me this film is one of my favorites with a very good visual dose of heavy metal, until now I have not seen another film with so much reference to this style of music that is so special to me; I'm sure there are, but this marked me very personally and I hope that the new films of this millennium capture the young audience of this generation as I did at the time.
Many years later I read that the movie when it came out went directly to television channels with continuous transmission, in theaters it did not last long and it did not do very well, but over the years it has become a cult film and a great reference towards eighties heavy metal. Style that was very famous and that is reflected in the film, where the characters show the lifestyle at an early age of youth in the way of dressing, putting on makeup, even walking and talking. There is a memorable scene and it is when the protagonist places the **"Protagonist Vinyl"** on the turntable and turns the plate from one side to the other, I loved that whole moment of turning on the sound system and how the sound system moved needle arm and the sound coming out of the speakers as well as the equalizer doing its job etc.
Vean la película si les place, a mí me encanta y me traslada a mi niñez, cuando puedo la vuelvo a ver y la disfruto mucho. Comparto el link de la película en una única reedición en formato DVD del año 2003, no sé si hay otra reedición mas actual. Cuando la vi de niño fue con doblaje o idioma latino, hay otra versión pero con voces españolas, pero igual se disfruta y se entiende.

Watch the movie if you like, I love it and it takes me back to my childhood, when I can I watch it again and I really enjoy it. I share the link of the film in a single reissue in DVD format from the year 2003, I don't know if there is another more current reissue. When I saw it as a child it was with dubbing or Latin language, there is another version but with Spanish voices, but it is still enjoyed and understood.
