La nueva película de la franquicia de Marvel parece tener los toques perfectos entre la acción, mitos, leyendas, algo de risas y claro, un poco de drama de ex-novia de vuelta con el vengador más fuerte de la galaxia cósmica. Thor: Love and Thunder es la cuarta entrega con el dios del trueno como protagonista, pero si no has visto lo demás del MCU, ¿cómo disfrutarla sin sentirte perdido?
Con este post trataré de brevemente introducirte a toda la acción que ha vivido Thor hasta este momento en el MCU y además te compartiré teorías y detalles recopilados de parte de todos los fans, para que aparte de verla con confianza sientas que puedas comprender a ese amigo obsesivo fan que suelta un “LO SABÍA” en medio de la sala de cine.
Resúmen de la cronología de Thor en el MCU
Thor es el dios del trueno, hijo de Odín y príncipe de Asgard. Posee tres películas con rol protagónico y apariciones principales dentro de otras entregas en la línea del MCU. Para ahorrar el tiempo contando resúmenes, dejaré la lista de películas con actos relevantes dentro de ellas para la cronología de Thor.
Thor: Presentación de Thor dentro del MCU, revelación de la envidia de Loki sobre su hermano, Thor conoce a Jane, Loki muere (de mentiras) descubrimiento de la humildad pro Thor, pre-historia a Los Vengadores.
Avengers: Thor lucha junto a Los Vengadores, el nuevo grupo formado con los superhumanos de la tierra, para derrotar a su hermano Loki quien quiere apoderarse de la tierra. Primera aparición de Thanos dentro de MCU.
Thor, un mundo oscuro: Thor ayuda a Jane, su novia, a protegerse de los elfos oscuros que buscan la gema del poder que reside en ella. Muerte de Freya, madre de Thor y muerte de Loki (de mentira parte dos).
Avengers, la era de Ultrón: Thor ayuda a defender el universo de Ultrón, un androide creado por Tony Stark y Bruce Banner. Thor confiensa que rompió con Jane.
Thor, Ragnarok: Muerte de Odín. Thor se reencuentra con Loki para luchar contra Hela, su hermana, quien quiere apoderarse de Asgard. Destrucción de Asgard. Se forma el Team Hulk, Valquiria, Thor y Loki.
Avengers, Infinity War: Muerte de Loki (de verdad). Thor conoce a los guardianes de la galaxia. Creación de rompe truenos. Perdida contra Thanos, que provoca el blip que borra a la mitad del universo.
Avengers, End Game: Depresión de Thor que provoca que engorde, batalla final contra Thanos, restauración del universo, Thor cede el trono a Valquiria y se va con los guardianes de la galaxia en busca de un nuevo propósito.
Loki: Después del error temporal que cometieron los vengadores en Infinity War, una variante de Loki logra escapar y termina involucrado con los agentes del tiempo.
What if?: Presentación hipotética de un Thor que no se crió con Loki y por ello tuvo una vida menos preocupada. Pelea contra la capitana Marvel donde pierde; vistazo a una vida con un Thor más fiestero.
A pesar de que Thor no aparece más que como una mención en la serie de Loki, es importante resaltar la posible conexión a futuro que puede tener si ambos tienen el tan esperado reencuentro entre hermanos que muchos queremos. Pero aparte de ello, esto podréa signficar que la trama que envuelve al dios del trueno ahora también estaría desarrollandose dentro de la futura guerra del multiverso y el tiempo que se está formando.
Trama
Luego de derrotar a Thanos, Thor cede su trono a Valquiria y se marcha junto a los Guardianes de la Galaxia, quien se encuentran buscando a Gamora, la hija de Thanos y miembro de los guardianes.
Con esto parte el trailer de la nueva película, donde observamos a un Thor que, gracias a los dioses, ha hecho ejercicio para recuperar su figura y ayuda a los Guardianes de la Galaxia en sus misiones mientras al parecer comienza a vivir una vida de retiro.
Claro, esto está lejos de pasar, ya que Gorr, el carnicero de los dioses, ha aparecido y planea cumplir con su deseo sádico de acabar a todos los dioses. Para defender nuevamente los cielos cósmicos, Thor deberá unirse a un nuevo grupo de aliados al que se anexará Jane Foster, su ex-novia a la cuál aún no supera y que ahora se ha convertido en la portadora de Mjolnir, y por lo tanto ha adquirido los poderes del dios del trueno.
Análisis ligero del trailer
En el trailer podemos ver varias cosas a resaltar:
Los guardianes de la galaxia: Sigue sin aparecer Gamora, por lo que puede que en algún punto de la trama, dejen a Thor atrás para continuar con su busqueda.
El atuendo de devastador de Thor: En una escena, Thor se quita una túnica para dejar al descubierto un atuendo inspirado en un comic, donde Thor es parte de los devastadores. Hay que recordar que Peter Quill, uno de los guaridanes de la galaxia, fue originalmente criado por devastadores.
Valquiria: Se encuentra debatiendo asuntos politicos, por lo que su rol como reina de Asgard es indiscutible.
Jane Foster: Ex-novia de Thor, terminaron porque era complicado, pero Thor aún no la supera si consideramos el hecho de que sigue contando los días en que llevan separados.
Zeus: Zeus dentro del MCU sigue siendo el DIos del Olimpo, y por lo tanto es un tipo influyente, Thor se acercará a él en busca de aliados para defenderse de Gorr. Aunque entre secuencias entre diferentes trailers, podría sospecharse que en realidad es un personaje relief y no formará más que parte del relleno sobre como Thor busco ayuda y al parecer no fue tan fácil conseguirla.
Gorr: Era un creyente de los dioses hasta que presenció como su familia murió uno a uno, convirtiendolo en un ser lleno de vengaza que jura acabar con todos los dioses. A pesar de ser un tipo normal, según los comics el logra obtener una espada especial que le ayuda a mantenerse inmortal y básicament le da los poderes relacionados a Venom, el simbionte.
Las 2 cabras: El barco tironeado por las dos cabras, en realidad existen tanto en la mitología nórdica real como en los comics de MCU. Son en realidad dos bestias gigantes con el poder de volar a grandes velocidades a través de los mundos. De hecho, eran el transporte de Thor dentro de la mitología y se dice que al ser regenerativas, Thor las comia en medio de sus viajes para luego de sus huesos volverlas a renacer. Practicamente eran comida y transporte.
Teorías
Aunque no se tenían demasiadas teorías al respecto, para Thor no se tenía previsto tanta cosa más allá del hecho de que estaría muy involucrado con Los Guardianes de la galaxia y que la trama que se viene construyendo con Jane su exnovia llegaría finalmente a una conclusión.
Una de las teorías que muchos fan esperamos es la aparición de Loki, el hermano de Thor, quién como ya sabemos ha muerto oficialmente pero una de sus variantes temporales aún sigue causando caos en el universo. Aunque no es una opción muy probable a suceder, debido a que lo último que se supo de Loki fue su súbita aparición dentro de un nuevo universo donde Kang es el presidente de la TVA, por lo que su primer objetivo será viajar entre universos para encontrarse con el Mobius que conoce y Sylvie.
Por último otra de las teorías que se tiene prevista es que Valquiria mantendrá una relación con alguna mujer dentro de esta entrega y que está se convertiría en la nueva reina de Asgard (sería realmente reina concubina). Luego de ver algunas cosas entre trailer y tráiler, personalmente tengo la ligera sospecha de que en realidad Jane y Valquiria pueden mantener una relación entre ellas. Aunque de todas maneras estaba verificando entre los materiales de los cómics y hasta el momento no encontré ninguna información sobre eso.
Además entre las teorías confirmadas también se llegó a conocer que Jane tendrá efectivamente cáncer, cómo se había reflejado previamente dentro de los cómics, ésta podría ser la causa principal sobre ella portando el martillo de Thor y obteniendo los poderes del Dios del Trueno. Además, entre algunas cosas y diálogos que se dejan de ver dentro de los trailers, se cree que Jane fué afectada por el blip causado por Thanos y es por ello que ya no tiene una percepción clara del tiempo que ha pasado desde su ruptura con Thor.
Como último detalle, esta es la primera película del MCU basada en un personaje protagónico en tener una cuarta entrega (Spiderman no cuenta porque hay un máximo tres con un mismo protagonista).
Y listo finalmente estás preparado para ver Thor: Love and Thunder como si fuera un auténtico fanático que se sabe todos los detalles y todas las minorías del asunto. The new film in the Marvel franchise seems to have the perfect touches between action, myths, legends, some laughs and of course, some ex-girlfriend drama back with the strongest avenger in the cosmic galaxy. Thor: Love and Thunder is the fourth film with the god of thunder as the main character, but if you haven't seen the rest of the MCU, how do you enjoy it without feeling lost?
With this post I will try to shortly introduce you to all the action Thor has experienced so far in the MCU and I will also share theories and details gathered from all the fans, so that apart from watching it with confidence you will feel like you can understand that obsessive fan friend who blurts out "I KNEW IT" in the middle of the movie theater.
Summary of Thor's chronology in the MCU.
Thor is the god of thunder, son of Odin and prince of Asgard. He has three films with starring roles and main appearances within other films in the MCU timeline. To save time counting summaries, I will leave the list of movies with relevant acts within them for Thor's chronology.
Thor: Thor's introduction to the MCU, revelation of Loki's envy of his brother, Thor meets Jane, Loki dies (for lies), discovery of Thor's humility, pre-history to The Avengers.
Avengers: Thor fights alongside The Avengers, the new group formed with the superhumans of the earth, to defeat his brother Loki who wants to take over the earth. First appearance of Thanos in the MCU.
Thor, a dark world: Thor helps Jane, his girlfriend, to protect herself from the dark elves who seek the gem of power that resides in her. Death of Freya, Thor's mother, and death of Loki (for lies part two).
Avengers, Age of Ultron: Thor helps defend the universe from Ultron, an android created by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner. Thor confesses that he broke up with Jane.
Thor, Ragnarok: Death of Odin. Thor reunites with Loki to fight Hela, their sister, who wants to take over Asgard. Destruction of Asgard. Team Hulk, Valkyrie, Thor and Loki are formed.
Avengers, Infinity War: Death of Loki (for real). Thor meets the Guardians of the Galaxy. Creation of thunderbreaker. Loss to Thanos, who causes the blip that wipes out half the universe.
Avengers, End Game: Thor's depression that causes him to gain weight, final battle against Thanos, restoration of the universe, Thor cedes the throne to Valkyrie and leaves with the Guardians of the Galaxy in search of a new purpose.
Loki: After the temporal mistake made by the Avengers in Infinity War, a variant of Loki manages to escape and ends up involved with the agents of time.
What if?: Hypothetical presentation of a Thor who did not grow up with Loki and therefore had a less troubled life. Fight against Captain Marvel where he loses; glimpse of a life with a more partying Thor.
Even though Thor doesn't appear as more than a mention in Loki's series, it's important to highlight the possible future connection he may have if the two have the long-awaited brotherly reunion that many of us want. But aside from that, this could mean that the plot involving the god of thunder would now also be developing within the future multiverse war and the time that is forming.
Plot
After defeating Thanos, Thor gives up his throne to Valkyrie and leaves with the Guardians of the Galaxy, who are looking for Gamora, Thanos' daughter and member of the Guardians.
With this starts the trailer of the new movie, where we observe a Thor who, thanks to the gods, has worked out to regain his figure and helps the Guardians of the Galaxy in their missions while apparently begins to live a life of retirement.
Of course, this is far from over, as Gorr, the Butcher of the Gods, has appeared and plans to fulfill his sadistic desire to wipe out all the gods. To defend the cosmic heavens once again, Thor must join a new group of allies, which will be joined by Jane Foster, his ex-girlfriend whom he has not yet overcome and who has now become the bearer of Mjolnir, and thus has acquired the powers of the god of thunder.
A light analysis of the trailer
In the trailer we can see several things to highlight:
The Guardians of the Galaxy: Gamora still doesn't appear, so it may be that at some point in the plot, they leave Thor behind to continue their quest.
Thor's devastator outfit: In one scene, Thor removes a tunic to reveal an outfit inspired by a comic book, where Thor is part of the devastators. It should be recalled that Peter Quill, one of the galaxy's guardians, was originally raised by Devastators.
Valkyrie: She is debating political issues, so her role as queen of Asgard is undisputed.
Jane Foster: Thor's ex-girlfriend, they broke up because it was complicated, but Thor still isn't over her considering the fact that he's still counting the days they've been apart.
Zeus: Zeus within the MCU is still the God of Olympus, and therefore is an influential guy, Thor will approach him in search of allies to defend against Gorr. Although between sequences between different trailers, it could be suspected that he is actually a relief character and will not be more than part of the filler about how Thor sought help and apparently it was not so easy to get it.
Gorr: He was a believer of the gods until he witnessed how his family died one by one, turning him into a being full of vengeance who swears to kill all the gods. Despite being a normal guy, according to the comics he manages to obtain a special sword that helps him stay immortal and basically gives him the powers related to Venom, the symbiote.
The 2 goats: The ship pulled by the two goats actually exist in both real Norse mythology and the MCU comics. They are actually two giant beasts with the power to fly at great speeds across worlds. In fact, they were Thor's transportation within the mythology and it is said that being regenerative, Thor would eat them in the midst of his travels and then from their bones they would be reborn. They were practically food and transportation.
Theories.
Although there were not many theories about it, Thor was not expected to be so much beyond the fact that he would be very involved with the Guardians of the Galaxy and that the plot that has been building with Jane, his ex-girlfriend, would finally come to a conclusion.
One of the theories that many fans are waiting for is the appearance of Loki, Thor's brother, who as we already know is officially dead but one of his temporal variants is still causing chaos in the universe. Although it's not a very likely option to happen, because the last we heard of Loki was his sudden appearance in a new universe where Kang is the president of the TVA, so his first goal will be to travel between universes to meet the Mobius he knows and Sylvie.
Finally another of the theories is that Valkyrie will have a relationship with a woman in this film and that she would become the new queen of Asgard (she would really be a concubine queen). After seeing a few things between trailers, I personally have a sneaking suspicion that Jane and Valkyrie may actually have a relationship with each other. Although anyway I was checking among the comics materials and so far I didn't find any information about that.
Also among the confirmed theories also came to know that Jane will indeed have cancer, how it had been previously reflected within the comics, this could be the main cause about her carrying Thor's hammer and getting the powers of the God of Thunder. Also, among some of the things and dialogue left unseen within the trailers, it is believed that Jane was affected by the blip caused by Thanos and that is why she no longer has a clear perception of the time that has passed since her breakup with Thor.
As a last detail, this is the first MCU film based on a character as a protagonist to have a fourth film (Spider-Man doesn't count because there are a maximum of three with the same protagonist).
And ready you are finally ready to watch Thor: Love and Thunder as if you were an authentic fan who knows all the details and all the minorities of the whole thing.
