Hello everyone! I hope you are doing great today. This time I want to talk to you about a very well known series, it's from a few years ago... but surely you have heard of it, or have seen it. It is one of the classic sitcoms that brightened the childhood or adolescence of many people... it is Modern Family. This series is one of those that stick in your memory, and are easy to remember... not only for its humor, but for the way it makes you feel part of the family, accompanying them for so many seasons. For those who haven't seen it... the series follows the lives of three families that are interconnected, and despite their differences, they share some everyday moments that are full of humor...

The first thing that catches the attention of this series, is its mockumentary format, where the characters speak directly to the camera, breaking the fourth wall, something that was very fashionable in the series a few years ago, surely you recognize this format from the series The Office. This is a technique that is used to great advantage here, as it gives a touch of realism and helps us connect a little more with these interesting characters. For example, one of the best and most endearing characters is Phil Dunphy, he mostly stars in very funny scenes and seeing his answers in the mini interviews are always great to give the ultimate hook. The series does a good job of showing varied personalities in the characters, then proceeding to an evolution. Each member of the three families, which generally become one big family, has their own unique characteristics, which combine brilliantly to make you laugh and sometimes reflect.

En esta ocasión quiere hablarles de una serie muy conocida, es de hace ya algunos años.. pero seguramente han oído hablar de ella, o la han visto. Es una de las clásicas sitcom que alegraron las infancias u adolescencias de muchas personas.. se trata de Modern Family. Está serie es una de esas que se quedan grabadas en tu memoria, y que son fáciles de recordar.. no solo por su humor, sino que por la manera en la que te hace sentir parte de la familia, acompañándolos durante tantas temporadas. Para el que no la haya visto.. la serie sigue la vida de tres familias que están interconectadas, y que a pesar de las diferencias, comparten algunos momentos cotidianos que están llenos de humor..

Lo primero que llama la atención de esta serie, es su formato de falso documental, donde los personajes hablan directamente a la cámara, rompiendo la cuarta pared, algo que estuvo muy de moda en las series hace algunos años, seguramente reconocen este formato de la serie The Office. Esta es una técnica que aquí se aprovecha bastante, ya que le da un toque de realismo y nos ayuda a conectar un poco más con estos interesantes personajes. Por ejemplo, uno de los mejores personajes y de los más entrañables, es Phil Dunphy, la mayor parte protagoniza escenas muy graciosas y ver sus respuestas en las mini entrevistas siempre están geniales para dar el último gancho. La serie hace un trabajo bueno al mostrar personalidades variadas en los personajes, para posteriormente proseguir a una evolución. Cada miembro de las tres familias, que generalmente se vuelven una sola gran familia.. tiene sus características únicas, que combinan genialmente haciéndote reír y a veces reflexionar.

The diversity of characters is another strong point of this sitcom. Jay, the older father of the family, is a somewhat tough businessman, who ends up marrying a young and beautiful woman named Gloria, and ends up living with her son, Many. Gloria is a character that I love, she is one of my favorites too, she has a strong Colombian accent and has a lot of passion for life, she brings a unique energy to the series, she gives rise to many funny situations. Many, Gloria's son, is a mature and very sophisticated young man, which makes for some funny scenes as he relates to this new family for him, as it is clearly something different.

Then we have Mitchell and Cameron, a gay couple who adopt a little Vietnamese girl named Lily...their relationship is portrayed realistically and lovingly, addressing issues such as parenthood, and clearly prejudice in a captivating way, and clearly funny as well. Little by little you get to know more of this great family, there is a lot of chemistry between all these people, they portray what a real family is like, the highs and the lows.

La diversidad de personajes es otro punto fuerte de esta sitcom. Jay, el padre mayor de la familia, es un hombre de negocios algo rudo, que terminan casándose con una joven y hermosa mujer llamada Gloria, y termina viviendo también con el hijo de esta, Many. Gloria es un personaje que me encanta, es de mis favoritos también, tiene un fuerte acento colombiano y tiene mucha pasión por la vida, aporta una energía única a la serie, da pie a muchas situaciones graciosas. Many, el hijo de Gloria, es un jovencito maduro y muy sofisticado, lo cual el cual genera escenas graciosas al relacionarse con esta nueva familia para el, ya que claramente es algo diferente.

Luego tenemos a Mitchell y a Cameron, una pareja gay que adopta a una pequeña niña vietnamita llamada Lily.. su relación es retratada de manera realista y con cariño, abordando temas como la paternidad, y claramente los prejuicios de una manera cautivadora, y claramente graciosa también. Poco a poco vas conociendo más de esta gran familia, hay mucha química entre todas estás personas, retratan como es una familia de verdad, los altos y los bajos.

Among the things that are most interesting about this series, is how it manages to keep you entertained with the subplots, and how it manages to combine the details to make you laugh. Like most sitcoms, this series explores episodic plots, there is no main plot... but this, beyond boring, makes you more and more surprised by the things that happen in this family... without the need to fall into too absurd situations, we can see how these characters mix and try to solve or do something specific and how things stop being simple, giving way to comedy.

I also feel that sometimes they touch on serious topics, without losing sight of the humor, things like competitiveness between family members, parental challenges, and the complexities of interpersonal relationships, Modern Family shows this without losing the main focus which is to make you laugh, it's great to see family dynamics that can be very similar to our own, that makes one identify.... Making a satire and at the same time a reflection of a more modern family.

Entre las cosas que son más interesantes de esta serie, es como logra mantenerte entretenido con las tramas secundarias, y como logra que los detalles combinen para causarte gracia. Cómo la mayoría de las sitcom, en esta serie se exploran tramas episódicas, no hay como una trama principal.. pero esto, más allá de aburrir, hace que te sorprenderás cada vez más por las cosas que pasan esta familia.. sin necesidad de caer en situaciones demasiado absurdas, podemos ver cómo se mezclan estos personajes y tratar de resolver o hacer algo en específico y como las cosas dejan de ser simples, dándole paso a la comedia.

También siento que algunas veces tocan temas serios, sin perder de vista el humor, cosas como la competitividad entre los miembros de la familia, desafíos parentales, y las complejidades de las relaciones interpersonales, Modern Family muestra esto sin perder el enfoque principal que es hacerte reír, es genial ver dinámicas familiares que pueden ser muy parecidas a las de nosotros mismos, eso hace que uno se identifique.. Haciendo una sátira y al mismo tiempo un reflejo a una familia realmente más moderna.

And that is exactly what made it so popular at the time, it is not about a traditional nuclear family, but a much more extended family, with second marriages, children of different ages and origins, a gay couple raising a young daughter... it shows us that not because a family is different, it stops being a family, in a way it is good to reflect and see how what really matters within a family is love and affection. They give us an inclusive and diverse representation, very refreshing at the time and also now, I think it was very necessary in its premiere. In terms of production... this series is well made, it has its own style, although it has the element of fake documentary, it doesn't feel like a blatant copy of another series, but it has that something distinctive.

I think the performances are good, from Jay, Sofia Vergara as Gloria.. Ty Burrel as Phil are really funny in their roles.... The younger actors are evolving a lot as the seasons go by, they do amazing too, it's nice to see how they are growing little by little, since we are talking about 11 seasons... I really liked this series, I remember watching it when I was younger and thank goodness, I decided to watch it all the way through a few years ago, I think it was worth it! It doesn't feel like just a random sitcom, it's a series that captures the complexities and humor of a family today, a less typical family than usual...

Sure if you give it a chance, you'll end up laughing a lot, as always it has its good episodes and its bad episodes, it's not like absolutely all of them are super funny, but they do serve to have a good time. I give it a rating of 8/10. I hope you can give it a chance if you haven't, and if like me, you had only seen some episodes on TV without order, I encourage you to watch it in order and complete, it is an excellent plan to distract yourself and laugh a while. Y es justamente eso lo que la hizo en su momento tan popular, no se trata de una familia nuclear tradicional, sino de una familia mucho más extendida, con segundos matrimonios, hijos de diferentes edades y origines, una pareja gay criando a una pequeña hija.. nos muestra que no porque una familia sea diferente, deja de ser una familia, de cierta manera es bueno reflexionar y ver cómo lo que realmente importa dentro de un núcleo familiar es el amor y el cariño. Nos dan una representación inclusiva y diversa, muy refrescante en su momento y ahora mismo también, considero que en su estreno fue muy necesaria. En cuanto a producción.. esta serie está bien hecha, tiene un estilo propio, aunque tima el elemento de falso documental, no se siente cómo una copia descarada de otra serie, sino que tiene ese algo distintivo.

Las actuaciones me parecen buenas, Desde Jay, Sofía Vergara como Gloria.. Ty Burrel cómo Phil son realmente graciosos en sus roles.. Los actores más jóvenes van evolucionando mucho conforme pasan las temporadas, lo hacen increíble también, es lindo ver cómo van creciendo poco a poco, ya que estamos hablando de 11 temporadas.. Está serie me gustó mucho, recuerdo verla más joven y menos mal, decidí verla completa hace unos años, creo que valió mucho la pena! No sé siente como una simple comedia random, es una serie que captura las complejidades y el humor de una familia hoy en día, una familia menos típica de lo común..

Seguro si le dan una oportunidad, terminarán riéndose mucho, como siempre tiene sus episodios buenos y sus episodios malos, no es como que absolutamente todos sean supergraciosos, pero sí sirven para pasar un buen rato. Le doy una calificación de 8/10. Espero puedan darle una oportunidad si no lo han hecho, y si como yo, solo habían visto algunos episodios sueltos en la televisión sin orden, los animo a verla en orden y completa, es un excelente plan para distraerse y reírse un rato.
