I saw this series at the beginning of the year, but had not had time to comment on it. I recently saw a commercial promoting it and I think it's time to recommend it. It's only six episodes, a short season, like most British series, with an explosive plot (literally).

I've always had admiration for the members of the military who focus on the sniper areas and those in the bomb disposal division. Although they are totally different, as the former I think do more solo work and those who make up a bomb disposal unit must have more teamwork. I think those who are dedicated to that, must have a degree of insanity.
I never enlisted in the military myself so I don't know many things about that world, most of the references I have are from conversations with old friends who enlisted when they were young in my country, but none of them were in a bomb disposal unit. So my opinion is just that of a civilian who does not know in depth what it is like there, but I do like to research and study human behavior.
What makes them go into bomb disposal? I don't think it's the money, because I think there are better paying jobs. It's fascinating to try to get inside the minds of the people who are in charge of defusing explosive devices. It's something they have to love. Being exposed to the danger that any mistake could end their lives must give them a kind of pleasure.
When the human being is in an extreme situation of danger, the brain begins to secrete Norepinephrine at an incredible speed, in this way our survival instinct becomes stronger and I think it must sharpen other of our senses, so that we maintain the concentration and agility necessary to act in these certain circumstances.
Some time ago, I do not remember if it was in another publication or in a comment, I explained a situation of danger that I lived, where I thought that they were going to kill me and I remember that after the danger passed, I felt a very strange sensation of pleasure. I think that's what those who join a bomb disposal team must feel.
They must first feel a great deal of tension as they study the type of explosive and how they must use their knowledge gained in training to neutralize these devices designed to cause terror and as much damage as possible. Managing to defuse or destroy them, without anyone getting hurt and after their own lives have been in danger, must give them a certain pleasure that can become addictive.
So I think there is a psychopathic side to all this, but I still respect them, because they are people who risk their lives to keep the lives of others safe. The amount of stress for sure is great and many may suffer some problems that affect their daily lives, because just like us, they have families, they are fathers, mothers, husbands, children.
All this introduction is because this series will make us feel a lot of emotions in each episode where everything can fly into a thousand pieces.

Cuando el ser humano se encuentra en una situación extrema de peligro, el cerebro comienza a segregar Norepinefrina a una velocidad increíble, de esta manera nuestro instinto de supervivencia se hace más fuerte y creo que debe agudizar otros de nuestros sentidos, para que mantengamos la concentración y agilidad necesaria para actuar en estas determinadas circunstancias.
Hace tiempo, no recuerdo si fue en otra publicación o en un comentario, expliqué una situación de peligro que viví, donde pensé que me iban a matar y recuerdo que después de que pasó el peligro, sentí una sensación de placer muy extraña. Creo que eso es lo que deben sentir los que se incorporan a un equipo de desactivación de bombas.
Primero deben sentir una gran tensión al estudiar el tipo de explosivo y cómo deben utilizar sus conocimientos adquiridos en el entrenamiento para neutralizar estos artefactos diseñados para causar terror y el mayor daño posible. Conseguir desactivarlos o destruirlos, sin que nadie salga herido y después de que sus propias vidas hayan estado en peligro, debe proporcionarles un cierto placer que puede llegar a ser adictivo.
Así que creo que hay un lado psicopático en todo esto, pero sigo respetándolos, porque son personas que arriesgan su vida para mantener la de los demás a salvo. La cantidad de estrés seguro que es grande y muchos pueden sufrir algunos problemas que afectan a su vida diaria, porque al igual que nosotros, tienen familia, son padres, madres, maridos, hijos.
Toda esta introducción es porque esta serie nos hará sentir muchas emociones en cada episodio donde todo puede volar en mil pedazos.
What is the plot?
Lana Washington is an ex-military woman who now works in the London Police Bomb Disposal Unit. She maintains a good relationship with her partner Nutkins and is romantically involved with Inspector Thom. A bomb threat at the home of a member of a radical right-wing extremist group must be dealt with by the unit, in conjunction with the other security forces who are activated at any terrorist threat, but everything takes an unexpected turn with devastating consequences for Lana, who must hunt down the people behind an escalation of terrorist attacks that will make her doubt everyone, even her own team. As her life falls apart, she finds support from an old friend named Karl. Who is behind the attacks? Is it a conspiracy? What is the scope of the conspiracy? How much pain will Lana have to endure? Can the enemy be closer than she thinks?

Pilot episode
A beauty. The pilot episode is the perfect example of how to start a story and grab the viewer immediately. When that first episode ends, we are in shock and e hooks you.
An excellent and clear presentation of the characters, in a few minutes we know who is who and the kind of relationship they have. Right away we empathize with the characters, they are sympathetic and then they consolidate the bonds to put two of them in that situation of danger I was talking about at the beginning.
It is a teamwork that they must do meticulously, any mistake can cost the death not only of their partner, but also the lives of other people. The director makes us sweat in every tense scene, to then give us a brief calm, make us feel good and give the final twist that will make us jump out of our seat.
It will be impossible for you not to look for the second episode and see how they develop the story, which is short, six episodes, but in each of them a cliffhanger that leaves us wanting to see more.
The Enemy Within
For the past few years stories about terrorism have focused on the enemy within. It's something that is happening in real life, we no longer only have to fear for attacks from foreign organizations, now we also have to deal with internal enemies who organize to instill terror.
Not only have I seen it recently in this series, but also in other productions, such as the second season of La Unidad, a Spanish series about an anti-terrorist group, focused part of its season on seeing an enemy among its own allies. Similarly, the espionage series Slow Horses, like this series, set in London, the enemy was an extreme right-wing group.
These productions only show in fictional form a sad reality suffered by today's society.
Familiar faces
There are several characters whose actors I already knew from other works. Especially the protagonist, played by actress Vicky McClure and the character of Karl played by Warren Brown. Where have I seen them? From another great series that is a hit, called Line of Duty, which I also recommend watching. But it is no coincidence that these actors are present in the series, because the creator is a filmmaker who has been apprenticed to Jed Mercurio, the creator of Line of Duty and one of the kings of English television today, because every project he is involved in becomes a sure hit and the trailer touts him as one of the producers.
He has been a good disciple and has learned from one of the best, that's why I have found many similarities at a narrative level with that other production, the influence he has is noticeable. Although it lacks to improve some small details of rhythm between each episode, because there was one that seemed to me that had some unnecessary scenes that only lengthened the episode until reaching the cliffhanger.
Second season?
I don't know if the series will have a second season, I haven't searched for news in Google either, you can search and tell me in the comments if there is any official news or announcement about the making of a second season.
The season had a closed ending, but I see a lot of potential to keep digging into the life of this feisty woman who leads the bomb squad. Her character has to go through a lot of intense things and it can be shown how all the events that happened will affect her in the future of her profession. I hope they renew it and we see another batch of episodes.
Trigger Point is a great choice for fans of stories with police investigations, terrorism and explosions. That's what the series has, incredible explosions and puts us in the shoes of Lana and her bomb squad, making us feel the danger and the tension that any slightest mistake will be paid dearly.

Episodio piloto
Una belleza. El episodio piloto es el ejemplo perfecto de cómo empezar una historia y atrapar al espectador inmediatamente. Cuando ese primer episodio termina, estamos en shock y e te engancha.
Una excelente y clara presentación de los personajes, en pocos minutos sabemos quién es quién y el tipo de relación que tienen. Enseguida empatizamos con los personajes, son simpáticos y luego consolidan los lazos para poner a dos de ellos en esa situación de peligro de la que les hablaba al principio.
Es un trabajo en equipo que deben hacer meticulosamente, cualquier error puede costar la muerte no sólo de su compañero, sino también la vida de otras personas. El director nos hace sudar en cada escena de tensión, para luego darnos una breve calma, hacernos sentir bien y dar el giro final que nos hará saltar del asiento. Second season?
Será imposible que no busques el segundo episodio y veas cómo desarrollan la historia, que es corta, seis episodios, pero en cada uno de ellos un cliffhanger que nos deja con ganas de ver más.
El enemigo interior
Durante los últimos años las historias sobre el terrorismo se han centrado en el enemigo interior. Es algo que está ocurriendo en la vida real, ya no sólo tenemos que temer por los ataques de organizaciones extranjeras, ahora también tenemos que enfrentarnos a enemigos internos que se organizan para infundir terror.
No sólo lo he visto recientemente en esta serie, sino también en otras producciones, como la segunda temporada de La Unidad, una serie española sobre un grupo antiterrorista, centró parte de su temporada en ver un enemigo entre sus propios aliados. Igualmente, la serie de espionaje Slow Horses, al igual que esta serie, ambientada en Londres, el enemigo era un grupo de extrema derecha.
Estas producciones sólo muestran en forma de ficción una triste realidad que sufre la sociedad actual.
Rostros conocidos
Hay varios personajes cuyos actores ya conocía de otras obras. Especialmente la protagonista, interpretada por la actriz Vicky McClure y el personaje de Karl interpretado por Warren Brown. ¿Dónde los he visto? De otra gran serie que es un éxito, llamada Line of Duty, que también recomiendo ver. Pero no es casualidad que estos actores estén presentes en la serie, porque el creador es un cineasta que ha sido aprendiz de Jed Mercurio, el creador de Line of Duty y uno de los reyes de la televisión inglesa actual, porque cada proyecto en el que está involucrado se convierte en un éxito seguro y el trailer lo promociona como uno de los productores.
Ha sido un buen discípulo y ha aprendido de uno de los mejores, por eso he encontrado muchas similitudes a nivel narrativo con esa otra producción, se nota la influencia que tiene. Aunque le falta mejorar algunos pequeños detalles de ritmo entre cada episodio, porque hubo uno que me pareció que tenía algunas escenas innecesarias que sólo alargaban el episodio hasta llegar al cliffhanger.
¿Segunda temporada?
No sé si la serie tendrá una segunda temporada, tampoco he buscado noticias en Google, podéis buscar y decirme en los comentarios si hay alguna noticia o anuncio oficial sobre la realización de una segunda temporada.
La temporada tuvo un final cerrado, pero veo mucho potencial para seguir indagando en la vida de esta mujer luchadora que lidera el escuadrón de bombas. Su personaje tiene que pasar por muchas cosas intensas y se puede mostrar como todos los sucesos ocurridos la afectarán en el futuro de su profesión. Espero que la renueven y veamos otra tanda de episodios.
Trigger Point es una gran opción para los fans de las historias con investigaciones policiales, terrorismo y explosiones. Eso es lo que tiene la serie, explosiones increíbles y nos pone en la piel de Lana y su equipo de artificieros, haciéndonos sentir el peligro y la tensión de que cualquier mínimo error se pagará muy caro.
