I was really looking forward to seeing Longlegs after reading so many positive reviews. My expectations were met and it enters the top of this year's horror films. The viewer just has to accept the codes of the characters in this story set during Clinton's time as President of the United States, something that becomes clear in a couple of scenes.
I don't agree with the comparisons made by some professional critics, saying that it has a Silence of the Lambs feel to it. That film is a masterpiece and LongLegs falls far short of it. It is a good film, but it should not be exaggerated by equating it with that other masterpiece of the seventh art, nor with Twin Peaks. Perhaps Osgood Perkins used some of these productions as a source of inspiration or reference, nothing more.
I think many horror viewers may be a little disappointed with this film. Its style could fit into the conceptual horror genre. I have noticed this in several recent horror productions and the results seem to please some viewers, but not all. If you are looking for a horror film more focused on jump-scares, then you should look for other options.

The investigation is very shoddy and all the weight falls on new agent Lee Harker, who seems to be a person with Asperger's syndrome, both in the way she behaves and in her keen intelligence in finding killers and cracking codes.

La investigación es muy chapucera y todo el peso recae en la nueva agente Lee Harker, que parece ser una persona con síndrome de Asperger, por su forma de comportarse, así como por su aguda inteligencia para encontrar asesinos y descifrar códigos.

Nicolas Cage is physically unrecognisable with the facial prosthetics and make-up used to create an unsettling character. Cage's usual histrionics were necessary to make a memorable counter-figure. He may even be a little ridiculous in some scenes, but it works perfectly for the character he was assigned.
Osgood Perkins reasserts himself as a builder of unsettling atmospheres. Longlegs is a good film that I hope you like as much as I do.
