Much ado about nothing

After seeing some positive comments on twitter about this film, I decided to see it. Also the fact that it is Zoe Kravitz's directorial debut was a determining factor for me to have high expectations. I love directorial debuts, sometimes they can surprise me and sometimes disappoint me.
As I write this post, I have mixed feelings about the film. The premise of the fim seems good to me, the starting point seemed promising. Several sequences were interesting, but its tendency towards radical feminism and the final part is a total disaster.
There is a warning at the beginning of the film, warning us that there are things that can disturb us. It's a vile lie! I waited the whole film to see what would be very disturbing and I didn't find it. Some blood in the final part. That's all. The people who made this film really think that the viewers are very stupid and have a very short film culture. Maybe that's the target audience, as I've seen a lot of really disturbing films and this one actually got a few laughs out of me, so I'd consider it more of a comedy.

También el hecho de que sea el debut como directora de Zoe Kravitz fue un factor determinante para que tuviera altas expectativas. Me encantan los debuts como directores, a veces pueden sorprenderme y otras decepcionarme.
Mientras escribo este post, tengo sentimientos encontrados sobre la película. La premisa del fim me parece buena, el punto de partida me pareció prometedor. Varias secuencias fueron interesantes, pero su tendencia hacia el feminismo radical y la parte final es un desastre total.
Hay una advertencia al principio de la película, que nos avisa de que hay cosas que nos pueden perturbar. ¡Es una vil mentira! Esperé toda la película para ver eso que sería muy perturbador y no lo encontré. Algo de sangre en la parte final. Eso es todo. Realmente los que hicieron este film piensan que los espectadores son muy tontos y tienen una cultura de cine muy corta. Tal vez ese sea el público al que va dirigido, ya que he visto muchas películas realmente perturbadoras y esta en realidad me sacó algunas risas, por lo que la consideraría más una comedia.
What bothers me most about the film is its insistence on continuing the argument that all white, heterosexual men are evil, sadistic, torturers, abusers and all the evils of the world. They are all white men here. There are no African-American men who are part of the villain's club of friends. The only ones who are not white are asaitic men who work on the island, but they are also evil because they throw lurid looks at the women. That the world's baddest bad guys have these characteristics would not be a problem, were it not for the fact that it is now a constant in every film that wants to embrace the feminist, agenda-driven feminist agenda to lead us down that path.
All this reminds me of the protests of the alphabetic community in past decades. For example, when the film Basic Instin was released, these groups protested because the villain was bisexual. They said they were tired of the villains who made the horrendous Corsican films being of that tencdence. Well, now we are in a time when being heterosexual seems to be a crime. Through these kinds of films they want us to feel bad for being heterosexual, for liking people of the opposite sex and even to ask for forgiveness without having done anything wrong. They want to make you believe that you are disgusting for being heterosexual and that all women in the world are victims. As if many women don't also do horrible things.
Many are going to say that this is a reference to Epstein's Island or that there are references to the P Diddy case. They already are. All those know-it-all tik tokers and three-quarter youtubers are already generating content that only seeks to gain likes and views, putting on expert faces and voices (when they are not experts at all). Comparing the film to that disgusting rapper abuser. But beyond small coincidences, it has nothing to do with that case.
Lo que más me molesta de la película es su insistencia en continuar con el argumento de que todos los hombres blancos y heterosexuales son malvados, sádicos, torturadores, maltratadores y todos los males del mundo. Aquí todos son hombres blancos. No hay hombres afroamericanos que formen parte del club de amigos del villano. Los únicos que no son blancos, son asaiticos que trabajan en la isla, pero tambien son malos porque lanzan miradas escabrosas a las mujeres. Que los malos más malos del mundo tengan estas características no sería un problema, si no fuese que actualmente es una constante en cada película que quiere abrazar alegatos feministas, propios de la agenda establecida para guiarnos por ese camino.
Todo esto me recuerda a las protestas de la comunidad alfabética en décadas pasadas. Por ejemplo, cuando se estrenó la película Basic Instint, estos grupos protestaron porque el villano era bisexual. Decían que estaban cansados de que los villanos que hacían las horrendas corsas fueran de esa tencdencia. Pues bien, ahora estamos en una época en la que ser heterosexual parece ser un delito. A través de este tipo de películas quieren que nos sintamos mal por ser heterosexuales, por gustarnos las personas del sexo opuesto e incluso que pidamos perdón sin haber hecho nada malo. Quieren hacerte creer que eres un ser repugnante por ser heterosexual y que todas las mujeres del mundo son víctimas. Como si muchas mujeres no hicieran también cosas horribles.
Muchos van a decir que esto es una referencia a la isla de Epstein o que hay referencias al caso P Diddy. Ya lo están haciendo. Todos esos sabelotodos tik tokers y youtuber de tres cuartos, ya están generando contenidos que solo buscan ganar likes y visualizaciones, poniendo caras y voces de expertos ( cuando no lo son en absoluto). Comparando al film con ese asqueroso rapero abusador. Pero más allá de pequeñas coincidencias, no tiene nada que ver con ese caso.
It would have been brave for Kravitz to have made reference to all that. If there were several battering women and African-American villains. I wouldn't have given it an ending that I thought was nonsense. What the protagonist does at the end of the film and how the villain ends is laughable. I think it's the dream of radical feminists. Take the heterosexual millionaire man's money, live a life of luxury while keeping him as a fool at your mercy. Then the supposedly feminist message is diluted and respect is lost. In reality it is all a desire to have what the other has regardless of the lives of the victims.
The biggest nonsense is the atmosphere in which several deaths take place. This turns into a comedy. All men, much stronger than all these women put together. They are eliminated in the silliest possible way. Even an ex-marine is eliminated like a fool by women who don't even know how to fight. Comedy of the absurd. An island whose owner is the owner of a big tech company and has only one security, no advanced surveillance system and no state of the art technology to keep control. This doesn't make any sense to me.
At least it made me laugh several times, so it's not a bad film. It's just a film that I found uneven and didn't live up to my expectations. Zoe Kravist can go on believing she's the new champion of feminism and metoo. But if you really want to see a film about strong feminism and women getting revenge, there are better options than this.

Habría sido valiente que Kravitz hubiera hecho referencia a todo eso. Si hubiese varias mujeres maltratadoras y villanos afroamericanos. No le habría dado un final que me pareciera un disparate. Lo que hace la protagonista al final de la película y cómo acaba el villano es de risa. Creo que es el sueño de las feministas radicales. Quitarle el dinero al hombre millonario heterosexual, vivir una vida de lujo mientras lo mantienes como un tonto a tu merced. Entonces el mensaje supuestamente feminista se diluye y se pierde el respeto. En realidad todo es un deseo de tener lo que tienen el otro sin importar la vida de las víctimas.
El mayor despropósito es el ambiente en el que se producen varias muertes. Esto se transforma en una comedia. Todos hombres, mucho más fuertes que todas estas mujeres juntas. Son eliminados de la forma más tonta posible. Incluso un ex marine es eliminado como un tonto por mujeres que ni siquiera saben luchar. Comedia del absurdo. Una isla cuyo propietario es el dueño de una gran empresa tecnológica y que sólo tiene una seguridad, ningún sistema de vigilancia avanzado ni tecnología punta para mantener el control. Esto no tiene ningún sentido para mí.
Al menos me hizo reír varias veces, así que no es una mala película. Simplemente es una película que me ha parecido irregular y que no ha cumplido mis expectativas. Zoe Kravist puede seguir creyendo que es la nueva campeona del feminismo y del metoo. Pero si de verdad quieres ver una película sobre feminismo fuerte y mujeres que se vengan, hay mejores opciones que esta.
