Some time ago I heard and read about this series, so this weekend I decided to watch it, I understand that this series has a certain resemblance or relationship with another series, the famous Dark, the truth is that I have not seen it, maybe I should have seen it first, to get a better idea of what this one was about, but well, the truth is that it was better this way.
I have always liked the series full of suspense, mystery, crimes, hidden stories, those that catch you from the first moment, they keep you captivated, intrigued, wanting to know more, how this story will end, who is the culprit, what is the great mystery that encompasses this plot.
Well, to be honest, I thought that this is what this story was about, and I don't deny it at the beginning, it was like that, the first chapter made me curious, it intrigued me a little, and I said, I'm going to keep watching it to see how it goes.
But the truth is that as I watched each chapter, each scene, reminded me of another old series, called Westworld, I felt it had an air to that, as this series the events happened in the west, but had a super advanced technology, where they could control people.
Well, this series, called 1899, takes place on a steamboat, where several people from different continents travel, with the aim of reaching another country and start their lives anew, and although at first you see that it is a simple journey, staged in a past century, in the course of each episode, you will see that it is not so, and that it has a technology that does not exist even in this current era.
1899 begins this trip with this group of passengers, who depart from Europe with the intention of reaching North American lands, with that American dream of having another life and a better future; however, on their journey through those waters, they encounter another ship, which had been missing for some time, and this trip is frustrated and at the same time paralyzed, wanting to know what happened to the passengers of the other ship, and what mystery is hidden in its disappearance.
There is no doubt that the story is interesting, at the beginning, you see how each character has a different story to tell, a life with a murky past, full of pain, suffering and desire to flee, and what better way to do it than through this trip, in this huge ship.
Despite all this, as much as I looked for some sense, some relationship between the characters or the plot, it did not seem congruent, I think it lacked something else, I don't know, everything happened so weird, and in a way that seemed incomplete to me.
The mind is usually so powerful and absorbing, and at the same time so manipulable, the human brain is a mystery, this is something we see in this series, where it shows us that we can create our own reality or fantasy, with any method or even new technologies, that help you escape and wander in another world, with the purpose of not feeling the same pain, fears, or frustration that you had in your real life.
There are people who are in charge of studying the human brain, it is here where we see how the protagonist of this story, is someone who based her life on that, studying the brain, trying to understand it, but above all see how to alter it, exchanging the reality and the vision of the world to others.
Everything is an experiment, a simulation, is something that we can see in the course of the series, the surprising thing about all this, is how the characters are so involved in this world, they do not assimilate what is reality and what is not.
It has good performances, especially by the protagonists, as I mentioned one of them studied medicine, Emily Beecham (Maura), and next to her we have the one who personifies the Captain of the ship Andreas Pietschmann (Eyk), which also has a history, a past, like each of the crew members of this ship.
Another detail that I liked was the music, in each chapter sounded a different theme, with classic rock style, of those times, very good because when it sounded when it was already culminating, leaving you there in the intrigue for the next chapter. Of course, the costumes were also a great touch, with their dresses, their suits, very according to the time that the characters were living, I think these are one of the few things I liked about this series.
It has a good story, intriguing, with messages with double intention in my opinion, depending on the interpretation you give it, talking about certain theories, such as Plato's, because the series is based on showing us two worlds, two realities, without being able to know for sure which one is the real fantasy.
As I said, I have not seen Dark, however, I got to hear and read comments about it, where some said it was a fairly complex series, difficult to understand at first, and if it is similar to this, we should see how it develops in the other seasons, but this was certainly not the best start, which is more attractive to the viewer, it is not bad, but not the best, is my perception, I know that many were captivated, and found it interesting, but to me honestly not so much.
It is a series that encompasses a bit of mystery, some drama and suspense. Each chapter has a duration of almost an hour, I do not deny, it has its good moments, but I would not recommend it 100 percent as other series that I have shared with you, it is a little slow, there are not very exciting scenes, it is a different style from what is being seen these days.
Not all of us have the same opinions, that's the good thing about being so different, maybe for some it was one of the best series, because of the complexity of the story, that unreal world, without sense, where even if you want to understand, to find that sense, you don't get it, you are left there wandering with that plot, maybe they didn't tell the story well, as I said I felt it lacked something, but well, this was what they got, and that's where it was.
I liked the series. No, really, it was eight wasted episodes for me.
I would recommend it. Well, if you like this kind of story, without sense and without a good plot, you can watch it, but I wouldn't recommend it, to be honest.
You'll see the next season. I think this season was enough for me not to want to continue watching it.

Hace un tiempo que escuche y leí sobre esta serie, por lo que este fin de semana me decidí a verla, tengo entendido que dicha serie tiene un cierto parecido o relación con otra serie, la famosa Dark, la verdad esa no la he visto, quizás debí verla primero, para poder tener una mejor idea de que se trataba esta, pero bueno, la verdad esto fue mejor así.
Siempre me han gustado las series llena de suspenso, misterio, crímenes, historias ocultas, esas que te atrapan desde el primer instante, te mantienen allí cautivado, intrigado, queriendo saber más, de cómo va a terminar esta historia, quien es el culpable, cuál es el gran misterio que engloba esta trama.
Bueno, para serles sincera, pensé que de esto se trataba esta historia, y no les niego al principio, fue así, el primer capítulo me dio curiosidad, me intrigo un poco, y dije, voy a seguir viéndolo a ver qué tal.
Pero la verdad, es que a medida que veía cada capítulo, cada escena, me recordaba a otra antigua serie, llamada Westworld, sentí que tenía un aire a esa, ya que esta serie los hechos sucedían en el oeste, pero contaban con una tecnología superavanzada, donde podían controlar a las personas.
Pues bien, esta serie, llamada 1899, se desarrolla en un barco de vapor, donde viajan varias personas de distintos continentes, con el objetivo de llegar a otro país y empezar de nuevo sus vidas, y aunque al principio ves que es un simple viaje, escenificada en un siglo pasado, en el transcurrir de cada episodio, verás que no es así, y que cuenta con una tecnología que no existe ni en esta época actual.
1899 comienza este viaje con este grupo de pasajeros, que parten desde Europa con la intención de llegar a tierras norteamericanas, con ese sueño americano, de tener otra vida, y un mejor futuro; sin embargo, en ese recorrido por esas aguas, se encuentran con otro barco, el cual tenía un tiempo desaparecido, lo que este viaje se ve frustrado y a la vez paralizado, al querer saber qué paso con los pasajeros del otro barco, y que misterio oculta en su desaparición.
No cabe duda que la historia es interesante, al principio, ves cómo cada personaje tiene una historia diferente que contar, una vida con un pasado turbio, lleno de dolor, sufrimiento y deseos de salir huyendo, y que mejor forma de hacerlo que a través de este viaje, en este enorme barco.
A pesar de todo esto, por más que le buscaba algún sentido, alguna relación, entre los personajes o la trama, no me pareció congruente, creo que le faltó algo más, no sé, todo sucedía tan raro, y de una forma a mi parecer incompleta.
La mente suele ser tan poderosa y absorbente, y a su vez tan manipulable, el cerebro humano es todo un misterio, esto es algo que vemos en esta serie, donde nos muestra que podemos crear nuestra propia realidad o fantasía, con cualquier método o incluso nuevas tecnologías, que te ayudan a escapar y divagar en otro mundo, con el propósito de que no sientas el mismo dolor, miedos, o frustración que tenías en tu vida real.
Existen personas que se encargan de estudiar el cerebro humano, es aquí donde vemos como la protagonista de esta historia, sea alguien que baso su vida en eso, estudiando el cerebro, intentando entenderlo, pero sobre todo ver como alterarlo, intercambiando la realidad y la visión del mundo ante los demás.
Todo es un experimento, una simulación, es algo que podemos ver en el transcurrir de la serie, lo sorprendente de todo esto, es como los personajes están tan metidos en este mundo, que no asimilan que es realidad y que no.
Cuenta con buenas actuaciones, especialmente por los protagonistas, que como les mencione una de ellas estudio medicina, Emily Beecham (Maura), y junto a ella tenemos al que personifica al Capitán del barco Andreas Pietschmann (Eyk), el cual también tiene una historia, un pasado, como cada uno de los tripulantes de este barco.
Un detalle que si me gusto fue la música, en cada capítulo sonaba un tema distinto, con estilo de rock clásico, de aquellas épocas, muy bueno porque cuando sonaba cuando ya estaba culminando, dejándote allí en la intriga para el próximo capítulo. Claro, la vestimenta también fue un gran toque, con sus vestidos, sus trajes, muy acorde a la época que según estaban viviendo los personajes, creo que estas son una de las pocas cosas que me gusto de esta serie.
Tiene una buena historia, intrigante, con mensajes con doble intención a mi parecer, según la interpretación que le des, hablando sobre ciertas teorías, como la de Platón, debido a que la serie se basa en mostrarnos dos mundos, dos realidades, sin poder saber a ciencia cierta cuál es la real fantasía.
Como les dije, yo no he visto Dark, sin embargo, llegue a escuchar y leer comentarios de la misma, donde algunos decían que era una serie bastante compleja, difícil de entender al principio, y si es parecida a esta, habría que ver como se desenvuelve en las demás temporadas, pero esta sin duda no fue el mejor inicio, que sea más atractiva para el televidente, no es mala, pero tampoco de las mejores, es mi percepción, sé que a muchos les cautivo, y les pareció interesante, pero a mí sinceramente no tanto.
Es una serie que abarca un poco de misterio, algo de drama y suspenso. Cada capítulo tiene una duración de casi una hora, no les niego, tiene sus buenos momentos, pero no la recomendaría al 100 por ciento como otras series que les he compartido, es un poco lenta, no hay escenas muy emocionantes, es un estilo diferente de lo que es estado viendo estos días.
No todos tenemos las mismas opiniones, es lo bueno de ser tan diferentes, quizás para algunos fue una de las mejores series, por lo complejo de la historia, ese mundo irreal, sin sentido, donde por más que quieras entender, encontrarle ese sentido, no lo hayas, quedas allí divagando con esa trama, quizás no contaron bien la historia, como dije sentí que le falto algo, pero bueno, esto fue lo que sacaron, y allí quedo.
Me gusto la serie. No, la verdad, fueron ocho capítulos perdidos para mí
La recomendaría. Bueno, si te gusta este tipo de historia, sin sentido y sin una buena trama, la puedes ver, pero no la recomendaría, la verdad.
Verás la próxima temporada. Creo que ya con esta temporada fue suficiente, para no querer seguir viéndola.
