AlRawabi School for Girls is not just a movie

Hello members of Movies & Tv shows community, first time here.

Do you watch a movie and you just don't want it to end? Not just because it is entertaining or has a great cast and crew members or great cinematography but because it passes a great message to you. You get overly emotional sometimes not because it's a sad movie but because you can relate with the characters. You keep wondering if the director looked into your life and came up with the movie.

This is the exact way I felt when I watched the AlRawabi School for Girls.

The movie has two seasons, the first season was produced in 2021 and season 2 was released in 2024 with each season having 6 episodes and a wonderful plot.

The story centers around a young girl Mariam, who lived a very decent life but things changed when she got into the bad books of the queen bees of the school; Layan Murad Fathi, Ruqayya, and Rania. In AlRawabi girls bullying was a common thing and Mariam got her daily dose from the trio.

Being the constant laughing stock of the whole school courtesy of the trio who used the internet as a powerful tool to humiliate Mariam on a daily basis was such a bad experience.

Things gets worse when Mariam is beaten mercilessly by the trio. This near-death experience does not spare Mariam from the hands of the trio as they turn the tables around thereby tainting Mariam’s reputation.

After suffering countless times in the hands of these bullies via the internet and real life Mariam takes revenge on the trio which ends in the most shocking way.

Mariam wasn’t alone on her plan as her friends, Dina and Noaf helped her greatly as they all shared a common enemies.

The movie centers around bullying and the effect of social media on young people.

In the movie we could see girls who were ready to go to any length to fit in, we could see girls being swayed by the influence of social media, we could also see misfits being bullied constantly.

There are just too many lessons embedded in the movie that can change the lives of many young people.

Today, young people are easily swayed by what they see on social media not thinking about what goes on behind the scenes. Like they say everything is rosy on camera. I go on TikTok and I see the comments sections of these influencers and all I can see are people feeling sorry for their lives, people blaming their boyfriends or partners for not having the picture-perfect life like these influencers and it's crazy, it’s crazy because these messages conveyed by social media do not leave us the same as in one way or another we are being affected.

In the movie we could see some of these high school girls who were destroyed as a result of this "internet fame", some of them lost it, and some friendships were destroyed as a result.

I love the fact that the movie did not just show only the glamorous sides of these so-called internet sensationals as they also showed us how they dealt with their various demons at home making us the viewers understand that they are just mere humans and not as perfect as we think.

This movie changed my life greatly as I got to also understand that in my own little way, I am unique and the more I get to know and understand this the better for me. I have also learnt not to compare myself with people as that is the foundation of self-hate and low self-esteem.

I got to understand that seeking people’s validation will only ruin you.

This movie is not just for girls or youths but the whole family as it has a message for everyone.
